You did such an awesome job keeping her iconic look while making her into a fashion doll style! I love the plaid pants on her, that’s a great look that really echoes the original blue dress.
These dolls are GAY and there is NOTHING you can do about it!
I bought both of these girls the same day and I always knew they looked right together but it took me months longer to finish Noelle (right) than Evelyn (left). Evelyn is a Disney Descendants Evie base, Noelle is a Mattel She-Ra base.
Since I couldn’t work on face ups today (MSC does NOT like the rain) I decided to finish all the accessories for my fairy character instead! Her name is Angelique and I’m very proud of her. She’s definitely the most accessory-heavy doll I’ve done so far.
It’s raining today so I can’t do face ups :/ This spooky young lady really needs a face! Guess I’ll have to work on one of the fifteen half finished accessories or outfits I have lying around instead...
I wanted to make a bigger wardrobe for my MH/EAH base girls so I decided to test out some of the patterns from Moonlight Jewel’s books! They came out SO CUTE I am OBSESSED. Her patterns are a little intricate and hard to follow but I think the results are worth it.

I love a good before and after! Valencia started out as an EAH K.A. Cupid. I don’t love the really wide EAH head molds, and I’m especially bitter about the EAH K.A. Cupid mold as opposed to the MH one (they did her so dirty!), but I will admit they give you a lot of room to experiment with eye and face affects and I’m very pleased with how she turned out. Progress, process, and detail photos under the cut!
Unfortunately, it was not only frizzy but also full of some kind of grease, most likely excess glue. I ended up brushing it out, using cornstarch as “dry shampoo”, and washing it out with human conditioner. It worked pretty well! Her hair is still a little stiff, but not noticeably.
Even after fixing her hair and taking off her factory paint, I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do with her. Since I was keeping the pink hair, I wanted to keep the “cupid” theme, and my initial idea was to do a lovecore look inspired by Valentines day candy. But then I went to Daiso! And what do you know, they have really cute fabrics. I picked up some adorable patterned felt and was inspired to make this hoodie.
I loved it so much that I immediately wanted to base the whole look around it. Luckily, the other fabrics I picked up lent themselves to the pink and yellow color family. I decided to go for a sportswear look to follow the hoodie, starting with tiny athletic socks and tiny basketball shorts!
I realize now that I didn’t take any progress photo of her tops that go under the hoodie (two tops! three with hoodie!). Most likely because it was so frustrating. She’s wearing a sports bra under a little mesh top. The mesh was incredibly difficult to work with, all the seams show on the material and it snags on everything. It took several drafts, but I got it eventually. Lots of work for something that barely shows in photos.
I ended up making her whole look before starting her faceup. I’m glad I did, because it changed her vibe so much. That being said, I ended up sticking a little closer to the lovecore theme with her face. I wanted to use the whole EAH mold, so I went with tons of cute freckles, and a red/pink/white/purple palette.
Her eyes are SO big that I felt like I could do a little bit of marbling! I was experimenting with using gauche instead of acrylic paints, which I think work better for that. I also had these little hearts that I was dying to try as eye shines. Her expression wound up very dreamy.
The bag I used to mask her hair ended up making her bangs stick up in a weird way...I tried to style them back down and ended up frying them a bit. Not super happy about that, but it was definitely a learning experience.
I sent some progress pics to a friend and he said she looked like the kind of girl who goes to the basketball court but ends up just sitting in the bleachers listening to tunes, so I wanted to make some accessories to match that vibe. I started with EXTREMELY TINY STRAWBERRY MILK!
This was my first time making accessories like this and I was SO pleased with this little carton of milk. I also made headphones out of her original head band, I covered the top with air dry clay, and made the ear cover parts out of polymer clay, all painted with acrylic paint. I also made her a tiny iphone out of polymer clay, painted with acrylic paint.
All in all, Valencia ended up very different from my other dolls! The dreamy face, sportswear style, and chilled out vibe were a big departure from my first few, especially with all the accessories. I love her very much.

First post is also my avatar! This is Miss Chelsea, her face up is my first experiment with more dramatic makeup looks and her hair is my first (and only so far) yarn reroot. Progress photos under the cut!
Chelsea started life as a Hasbro Mulan doll from the local thrift store. Scatterbrain that I am, I usually forget to take starting point photos for dolls, so this is the earliest photo I have of her:
I was trying a technique I learned from Hextian’a channel on YouTube, where you root the yarn, then brush it out when it’s in the head. It definitely is neater than re-rooting doll hair, but it turns out the hasbro doll heads are made of harder rubber than most. Doing this broke like three needles! Luckily, I was doing a ponytail hair style, so I didn’t have re-root the whole head. If I do another hasbro doll head, I won’t be re-rooting.
Once I did her re-root, it was time for the faceup. The wrap I did on her hair turned it a little crazy. I knew I wanted black lipstick, but I had to completely clean her face with acetone and re-start the lips multiple times before I got it right. It turns out that trying to do black lipstick with soft pastels will just make a mess!
She also had a total case of crazy eyes. I enlarged her pupils, used Saran Wrap to set down her hair, and redid her lipstick using just acrylic paint, made her eyeliner and shadow way more dramatic, upped the blushing on her face, added some sparkle, and in the end I am super happy with her! Now she just needs a body...
