Ahhh thank you so much!! 💕sO the lack of season 5 aftermath is possibly one of my biggest issues with Ninjago because like…there was no way. There was no way Lloyd just walked all that off, Morro had him pretty much the whole season and we saw what five minutes did to Ronin. I think it took a fair amount of time for him to bounce back, and it likely left long-lasting effects, but because this is season 5 angst u get a fic explaining my thoughts instead :’’D

(Also answering this in it’s own post because guess who spiraled out of control again! It’s s5 angst u guys i’m weak)

The aftermath of the battle is, as it usually goes, incredibly underwhelming. And by that, Cole means incredibly slow, because the Preeminent ripped the motor off their steamboat, and even with Nya pitching in every now and then, their pace across the seawater is glacial. By the time the nearest Ninjago shore comes into view, everyone on the boat’s on their last legs of sanity — some for…slightly different reasons than others.

The thing about being stuck on a crammed steamboat for hours on end, is that you can’t really hide. There’s only so far you can get, unless you take a dip in the ocean, which is a hard pass for Cole — not that he was trying to hide, anyways.

No, the only one who looks like they’re actually considering jumping off the side of the boat is Lloyd, and that’s because instead of vanishing off to who-knows-where to have his inevitable breakdown, he’s stuck smack in the middle of his very protective family, who get an up close and personal view of the exact moment the color starts to leech from his face.

I've been wanting to ask you this for a while, how do you think Kai and Nya handled that they couldn't just go and rescue Lloyd in s5? Also I'm in love with your writing! You write these three beautifully! Have a nice day!

Oh, thank you so much!! :D and aHA you have hit on my weakness, I have two answers for you:

Short answer: I think they handled it terribly, we actually get to see Kai having a nightmare and for Ninjago that’s a lot! Very Concerned Siblings.

Long answer: I rewatched this scene and realized something about Nya so. Fic, aha. 

Kai doesn’t even think of running.

He knows he’s out of his depth, he knows he hardly stands a chance without his powers, he knows he doesn’t know who he’s even up against—

But it doesn’t occur to him to flee. Not as Sensei calls the retreat, not as his brothers break for the ship and leave him alone, not as Nya screams for him to run. He doesn’t listen to her, because he can’t. Kai can’t run, because if he runs, he’s leaving Lloyd.

what stays and what fades away

Here I am yet again with season finale aftermath fic, because it’s my favorite thing to write about and we, um….could’ve used some more of it, after that one.

Anyways full disclosure this is straight-up angst that takes a hard left turn into sap somewhere along the way, and I’m posting with less edits than I want but it is laTE so! Here is my take on some Zangst ™️

His hands will not stop shaking.

It’s an odd thing, a subtle, rattling kind of tremor that starts in his fingers and spreads up his arms, until he’s forced to cross his arms tightly for fear of it spreading further. It lives there, trembling in his hands the entire trek back across the snowy wilderness, through every one of his family’s stories, and only worsens as they reach the village.

Zane doesn’t understand it. He’s not supposed to shake like this.

But he doesn’t understand how the villagers can look on him in kindness, either, so his vision might simply still be frosted over.

Listen….I am a simple fic writer….those episode summaries hinted at stuff….the stuff hinted at angst….I came for it…

This is based ENTIRELY off of the episode summary leaks for the last few episodes of s11, so if you haven’t seen those beware!! BIG SPOILERS!!

(I have no idea how it’s going to go down but it’s heavily suggested that this confrontation is going to exist, so here’s my take since we apparently have to wait forEVER for the real thing)

Lloyd isn’t sure what hurts worse — the face under the helmet, or Akita’s teeth in his arm.

“Let me at him,” she growls, sharp teeth glinting in the eerie light of the ice palace. “Let me kill him—“

“No, Akita, don’t,” Lloyd begs, his eyes smarting through the pain of where she’d bitten him. His fault, he’d stepped in front of her, but he couldn’t just let her—

“He killed my brother!” Akita roars, writhing against his hold as she strains toward the throne. Vex watches in amusement now, instead of the wide-eyed terror he’d worn mere seconds ago.
