August 2013 - appreciating the little things in life (at Tadoussac, Quebec)
more from the shores of the st. lawrence river (at St. Lawrence River)
Aug 2013 - The cottage we went up to every summer from the time I was about 4 until 14. It was my aunt & uncles, but for a week every summer, it became the coolest place on earth for a kid. Searching the tidal pools for crabs and sea urchins, building forts on the beach, and roasting marshmallows over campfires. It was always the highlight of the summer, and I feel super fortunate for having the chance to travel to Quebec every summer as a kid. I never had the Disneyland experience growing up, but I also never really felt the urge to. To me, these trips always felt more authentic than going to some 5 star Caribbean resort, blocked off from all the locals. (Not too mention way more awesome weather for taking photos) (at La Métis-sur-mer)
August 2013 - more foggy days in Quebec (at Quebec)
2013 - Shot from a moving car somewhere in the middle of Quebec It’s funny how with photography, the gloomiest days are often the best (at Rimouski, Quebec)
Aaaaaaand we’re back. After spending the better part of the last 5 months not doing much photography, I’m trying to make more time for it. I’ve recently connected with the @laurierphotographyclub, and I’m super excited for the rest of the semester. I also recently watched a video by @petermckinnon about his journey through photography, or at least how his photography progressed over the years. I thought the idea sounded cool, so over the next little bit, I’m gonna take you through my history with photography, from 2013 (when I got my first DSLR) until now. This first shot was in August of 2013. I used to love taking pictures of squirrels, as they were a friendly and abundant creature in Canada. This particular red squirrel I met on the shores of the St. Lawrence River, in Quebec. He was fearless, letting me get up close to photograph him (at St. Lawrence River)
Climbing to the top of Queenslands highest mountain was probably one of the most difficult hikes I've ever done. After starting off in the pitch black at 5:30am, we climbed for the next four hours over 5000ft to the peak. From nearly stumbling on a 10ft snake in the complete dark, to fighting off leeches on your ankles every couple hundred metres, to hopping rocks as the wind whipped around us, the hike was one of the most exhilarating experiences I've ever had. If I ever did this again, I'd probably pack more food than 6 granola bars. And I'd make sure to put my passport in a waterproof bag, because apparently it actually rains in the "rain"-forest. Anyways, the cost of replacing my passport was worth the experience. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Shot info: Nikon D800 with Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 16mm, 1/200, f/2.8, ISO 400 (at Mount Bartle Frere)

As I'm sitting in the airport waiting to board a flight to San Francisco, it's finally sinking in that I'm about to leave Australia. It's a mixed bag of emotions I'm feeling right now. On the one hand, I'm excited to get back to Canada with friends and family, and get started back at school. But these past few months have been spectacular, and I've been able to see some truly incredible things. Sometimes I was able to capture the moment with a camera, but I found myself often just living in the moment, rather than living it through a camera lens. After getting a taste of Australia, I doubt this will be the last time I'll be down in this part of the world. Already planning the next adventure to New Zealand (whenever I can save the money for it, that is) Until next time Australia, it's been real 🤙 (at Atherton Tablelands)
makin friends with the locals (at Great Ocean Road)
risked some speeding tickets to make it here in time for the sunset, totally worth it. I haven't been posting much because I've been too busy climbing things and sleeping in cars and airports to have time to edit my photos. I figure once I'm back in Canada, I'll have more than enough time to edit my photos properly. But tonight's view I felt I needed to share, one of the coolest places I've been to for sure. Going to pass out early tonight so I can hopefully catch the sunrise here again tomorrow morning I'm also gonna try something new, putting my camera info in my post. I like it when other photographers do it, so I figured might as well start doing it myself. ____________________________________________ Shot Info: Nikon D800 w/ 50mm AF-S 1.8 ISO 200, 50mm, f/8 for 156 seconds (at 12 Apostles)
continuing on with the theme of bright colours, here's a look into the backyard. going to miss looking at it every morning (at Point Piper, New South Wales, Australia)
Last week of work down here starts tomorrow, then it's two weeks of adventuring before I get back to Canada. As much as I've loved my time down in aus, I've also missed all the people back in Canada. Can't wait to see all you guys again and share all my stories, and catch up with all of you (at Royal National Park)
dark, dawn and dusk in the blue mountains (at Blue Mountains National Park)
now I'm 20 and should start doing adult things like taxes and retirement plans or I could just keep climbing mountains (at Three Sisters)
Another weekly recap of what I've been up to while I'm down here in Australia. This week was all about rugby and lightshows Music Link: https://soundcloud.co...
been exactly 11 months since I took a similar shot in iceland, I should really learn how to not focus my camera on my feet (at Watsons Bay)
