Politics is very good therapy for the mentally deranged. Through it an incredibly self-centred ego maniac can satisfy their identity problems by having positions that allow them feel empathetic. An anxious man can feel safe within ideological rules. A depressed man can find friends more easily with shared identity through internet ghettos for extreme politics with a secret language and in those same spaces women who need attention for validation can adopt those positions to get it. Even people with no real mental problems get to use it as a confidence boost by comparing themselves to people who believe the stupid things

It does everything for everyone except affect how a government is run or overturned which is a separate thing and not very important
