The problem with nostalgia is that it wraps me up in a warm, clean, blanket on the days where I am lying in bed for hours. It whispers in my ear memories I don’t seem to remember being so beautiful, but it convinces me it was the best time of my life. It grabs me by the hand and walks me down a path of moments, and it’s like a stabbing yearning in my chest. My heart strings are being pulled like an arrow, but the worst part is there isn’t anything I can do about it. I can’t bring myself back to these places, to that time. I can never make everything right, not like how it used to be. No matter how much I remember, and love the past, it’s long gone. Flown away like the people I onced loved. So I kiss nostalgia on the cheek, and let it fade off into the distance. Until the next time I’m feeling lonely, my friend.
