interaction 001
By the look on his manager’s face everyone could tell how antsy Davis was getting, how ready he was to not be doing what he did day in and day out for the next twenty four hours and instead to be home, with her. Davis was beyond happy with his life. He was thankful for his success, for his dedicated fans that grew by the day as more and more people heard his song, the amazing support he had back home and on the road but all of the success in the world didn’t change the fact that he missed home and the simple things in life like holding your girl’s hand as you walk down the street or staying in with a movie and a pizza– he just couldn’t wait to be home.
Before he knew it he was being rushed through the airport, the latest studio session running a little long and almost causing him to miss his flight. That definitely wasn’t in the plan and he’d made it a personal mission to keep that from happening. The longer he was in LA the longer he was away from Odessa, the longer he had to go without her in his arms and her smile lighting up the room. He clearly had it bad. Odessa was home, she was the person who’s sat with him as he got stuck on lyrics, the inspiration for most of his songs, the one who kept him focused. The second the wheels touched down and they were able to use their phones again he sent off a round of texts, one to his mom, one to his sister and the other to her. “Hope you’re ready to be re-swept off your feet. We’re going fancy tonight. Miss you, can’t wait to see you. I’m definitely not counting down the minutes….”
Time seemed to move at twice the speed when he was looking forward to something. The second he got home he’d unpacked, taken a quick shower and changed as he fielded calls from his family and questions about when they’d see him. “Tomorrow I swear, I just got in mom. I’m all yours tomorrow but tonight well, I have a very pretty girl waiting on me.”
Before he could even make his way up her pathway she was outside taking his breath away. It’d been a while since he’d last seen her in person, yes Skype and Facetime helped but it was nothing compared to having her right there, in front of him and in the flesh. “Eh, I think you coulda done with a little more bling,” he smirked as he put a pep in his step and took longer strides towards her. “Just kidding you look beautiful, I thought we’d agreed on the cheesy running into each other’s arms thing, just me?” He teased as he wrapped his arms around her and buried his face in her hair. “I missed you.”
Before he’d gone off to LA, Odessa and Davis had been inseparable. From the moment they met, it was a whirlwind, it was a magnetic pull. Before they even started dated, they went everywhere together, talked every day, after they became official it took a whole other notch. Odessa hadn’t known what it was like to be apart from him until he left, it had been years of constantly smelling his body wash and running her fingers through his soft hair. It felt like since he had gotten on that plane and found success that the girl had been holding her breath, like she’d wound herself up tight and refused to take in a lick of air because he was that important to her. He was like a piece of her, as important as her arm or her leg.
Seeing him outside of a screen, hearing him without the muffled sound of a phone call, it was almost earth shaking. She hardly heard what he was saying as he wound her up in his arms, her body almost turning into a wave and completely crashing into him, wanting to sink into him. She reached up and touched his chest, all the way up until her arms wrapped up around his neck, she couldn’t believe he was actually here. It was almost like she was scared her was going to disappear, like he was just a trick of the mind, like she would be apart from him again at any second. She took lungfuls in of his scent, feeling electric and alive as she looked up at him through her thick lashes.
“God, I’ve missed you too.” She let out in a rushed whisper, not wanting to be too loud, not wanting to lose this moment. “I’ve missed you so much, I think if I had to wait any longer I would have gone mad. Completely crazy.” She spoke with a nervous laugh as she gazed at him, wishing he’d never have to leave again.
