evans eyebrow raised a little curiously at that. "is your mom still here? just cause you said you've been stuck here alone since." the moment the question came out of his mouth he winced, realizing maybe she didn't want to talk about it. "sorry."

odette paused and shook her head "no, the first night we got here we got into an argument and she didn't listen to people warning her about what was out there. she went for a walk and the next morning i found her body" she carried a lot of guilt for years over her moms death, that maybe if they hadn't had that argument she would still be around. "it's okay, i've had plenty of time to come to terms with it all"

"oh wow," evan said, his eyebrows raising slightly in surprise, "so you've been stuck here this whole time? that's... a long time i couldn't even imagine being in a place like this for that long. how did you get stuck here then?"

[odette-abbott]

"yeah, suck here alone since then." she confirmed "my parents divorced and my mom was dragging me across country to move to a new state for a fresh start. we got stuck here after a storm hit and the rest is history as they say"

"Alright, let's go for the two player mortal kombat. I want to see your fighting skills," he said with another bright smile. It was easy for him to relax and make others feel comfortable. His easy-going nature was a vibe of positivity he tried to give to others. As he approached one of the machines he turned back to look at Odette. "Have you played before?"

"a heads up, they will be terrible" she laughed. she'd never played much video games in her life but she was happy to spend time with wes and learn. "not really. i know of the game but i can't say i've had any real hours of game time in my life. do you play the game often?"

evan rubbed the back of his neck, "my friends and i were on a road trip and we uh, we crashed on the way into town and well we couldnt really leave anyway." he remembered the last time they even saw each other was shortly after his attack where he ended things. "so you've been just stuck here for years then?"

she felt for him. so many people had a similar story of travelling and ending up being stuck in town. "i'm sorry you and your friends got stuck here. it takes some adjusting" they'd both changed over the years since they split up but he still felt familiar. "yeah, i've been stuck here since twenty-twelve."

The excitement of playing games in an arcade, it was his inner kid coming to play. Plus, they all just needed a day to unwind. "What's your interest? pac man, space invaders, or mortal kombat? or good racing game?" he asked as he led her towards the area where they can choose where to start.

wes had the ability to find a way to always keep her mind from worrying. he was a gentle reminder to let the tension out her shoulders and to take a breath of air. "i don't know where to start. what about a two player one?" she suggested looking over the games "what one do you think?"

He knew the town was probably on edge after everything that had happened at the lake. With all the chaos and tension in the air, a little sunshine, a bit of positivity, was needed. His thoughts turned to Odette; he liked checking in on her at the commune. So, he left a note asking her to meet him at the arcade, hoping she'd be up for some games. When he spotted her walking in, he smiled. "I'm glad you came," he said warmly. "How about a day of fun?" he asked, gesturing towards the arcade.

returning to her room after her shift at country roads, she had found the note left for her. she smiled at the paper while she read the words and soon left the commune to go meet wes where he had asked. walking into the arcade, she looked around and gave him a wave when they spotted one another. "thanks for inviting me" she smiled "a day of fun sounds incredible. lead the way."

if he was honest, evan was a little shocked to hear his name when it came to someone who wasn't already his friend so he turned around to see who it was with a smile. however that dropped when he realized who it was. "odette.." he hadn't seen her since well, since his attack where he broke things off with her. "i.. don't really want to say it's good to see you cause of the obvious but," evan blinked a few times to make sure he wasn't seeing things wrong, "what are you doing here?"

she hadn't seen him in years. the last time they had saw one another, she had her heart broken and he was the last person she'd ever have expected to show up in town "i...how...how did you end up here?" she asked, confused how this came to be "my mom and i were moving after my parents divorce and we got stuck here years ago. we've all been here the whole time"

seeing someone from home was not what she had expected to see at the event. at first she genuinely believed it to be some other trick this town was playing on her but the closer she got the more she realised that he was real.

That was good, he was glad to hear that she was good. smiling "I've been good as well. " he was mostly the type of person to stay indoors. He figured the lake event would be fun. "I uh, don't know what plans you have later in the week. I hear there might be another event. Are you free to go?"

"i'm glad you've been good. i always worry about you and the others" since her introduction to the portals, she hadn't been the most social but she was trying to improve. wes had been a positive influence on that "i don't have any plans other than work and we get time off for events so i'm free to go."
