The food day, started by IHOP in 2006, offers diners a free short stack of buttermilk pancakes on March 8, between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Last year, the all-day-breakfast chain served 6.6 million free pancakes. Â The International House of Pancakes uses National Pancake Day to support Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, Shriners Hospital for Children and other nonprofits. In 2015, IHOP raised $3.5 million for children's charities by asking diners for donations. Since its inception, National Pancake day has helped the organization raise around $20 million for charities. This year, IHOP hopes to collect another $3.5 million for charity.
Sharing: National pancake day is even more popular these days simply because of social media. On National Pancake Day, it became a trending topic on Twitter making it relevant
Participation:Who isnât going to want free pancakes? And it is even better because the money raised goes to a great cause. If you drove by any IHOP on Tuesday, you would see the hundreds (yes hundreds) of people waiting in any type of weather to eat pancakes that are probably $5 at the most. This makes more people want to get some too.
Authenticity: IHOP is a household name. Youâre not American if you havenât eaten here at least once. IHOP is a pretty well known brand so I think itâs authentic.
Reach: The best part about being a household name in America is that you reach all ages. Little kids, Teenagers, adults, and even the elderly. This is a problem that most companies struggle with today....trying to reach everyone. Adults love it because theyâre helping kids in need and teens, unfortunately, love it because itâs free.
Kick in the end: Everyone always remembers it for next year
