Wifies walks back into the room where Ash is still standing there, as if he was waiting for Wifies' return. Wifies silently heads over to pick up his echest he left on the floor, hoping to get out of there without any further conversation.
@invismafialeader
so, what was that whole outburst about? you suddenly all buddy-buddy with the man who took him away?
I wouldn't say we're 'buddy-buddy'. I did kind of just stab him. I just don't think there's any point in killing him right now. I don't want to kill him.
Wifies tries to keep his voice steady. He knows what Ash is doing, trying to get under his skin, to force him into doing something he'll regret. He's not going to let him win.
I'm not interested in being a villain anymore.
[chuckle] oh, Director. you make me laugh, really, you do. you don't want to be a villain anymore? so what, your plan is to become this virtuous savior and that's how you plan to get on Parrot's good side? you're just going to mirror him, he won't want you if you're not something to save. but i can help with that.
Wifies really was amusing to Ash. He knew he already got him line, hook and sinker. Whatever will be the result of this conversation, Ash has already won. He just needed Wifies to realize that too.
Wifies tenses. He knows Ash is just trying to get to him. Still, his words cut Wifies deep. He knows how parrot works. He spent months learning every part of his thought process to be able construct Paragon. He knows that Ash is right.
... how so?
He knows this is a bad idea. But he's never been able to control himself when it comes to parrot.
look at me, director. i have influence, i have power and i can very well have almost anything in this world if i so wished. join me, and i guarantee you that fool you're chasing after will come right to you. all you have to do is come with me, and soon enough he'll get the news you're working under me. ergo, you'll have to be saved from me. doesn't that sound nice?
Ash's smile was something so deeply degrading he can almost feel the shiver going down Wifies' spine. The name he called him, Director, a noun alike the "names" of his former mafia members cut so, so deep. If he joined Ash, he wouldn't have a name anymore He would be just that, the Director. But he would get the attention of the person he wanted more than anything. And Ash knew that that's what he needs to get him.
It does.
Wifies swallows hard. Every single part of him is screaming that this is a very bad idea. But Ash is right, it would be nice. It would be everything Wifies wants. He hates that he's considering this. He hates that no matter how much he knows Ash is playing him, no matter how much he knows Parrot would never approve of this, he's still considering this.
There must be a catch.
intelligent as ever, i see. all you have to do is sign this simple book right here.
He offers Wifies a sharp grin. His eyes were dark with something indescribable, inviting him to discover what that may be.
it's nothing, really. just says that you work under me and that we have a contract where any intelligence you gain will be shared with me, that's all i want.
Wifies would be an idiot not to recognize that Ash is benefiting from this deal a lot more than he would be. Intelligence, in Ash's hands, quickly becomes a weapon--- one that Wifies is sure Ash would turn against him if he ever wanted to. But, all Wifies wants to do is protect Parrot, and unfortunately for Wifies' more rational mind, it's better to be with Ash than against him.
...I'm interested. However, before I sign this, you have to promise me one thing. You won't hurt Parrot while I'm working for you.
of course. that's no problem, i anticipated you would ask for that. here, just sign this book right here.
Ash remained unusually calm, despite Wifies' added clause which while inconvenient, did not limit Ash too much. Parrot isn't what Ash is after, when all is said and done.
That predictable, huh?
Wifies hesitates for just a moment, before giving in and singing the book.
Wifies walks back into the room where Ash is still standing there, as if he was waiting for Wifies' return. Wifies silently heads over to pick up his echest he left on the floor, hoping to get out of there without any further conversation.

You. Come on while the guards are distracted. I sent a decoy army for them to busy themselves with but they're just some low-level players. We don't have a lot of time, so follow me.
- @invismafialeader
Theo’s head snaps up instantly, hands reaching a bow and cart that’s not there. He frowns, expression disbelieving.
💥: “… Are you the ‘connections’ I was told to expect?”
that would be me. keep up, we gotta get going. we need to get out of here. fast.
Ash hands Theo an elytra and rockets, just enough to get out of this place.
the rooks are dropping like flies, we have ten minutes max. you don't need armor or anything, i have a safe house just about ten thousand blocks from here. we'll get there and i'll call Wifies to get you.
He grabs the elytra and rockets, scowling harder, itching for a sword or- or anything, really.
💥: “No armour- are we serious?”
A sigh.
💥: “Nevermind. Just- oh my god, let’s just go. Lead the way, man.”
follow me and try to not get hit with anything.
They fly away from the prison, soaring through the sky. They got away unscathed, the attacks failed to reach them. It could have been divine intervention, honestly, with how lucky they got.
are you following? we have to be quick, the house has a timed entrancd. a calibrated sculk sensor will activate as soon as we land, jump into the hole and i'll follow right behind you.
💥: “Kay. Got it, I think.”
Theo squints, aiming for the house and the hole that Ash had pointed out. He unequips his elytra, only letting out a slight exhale of relief once he’s certain he’s made it through.
💥: “Jeeeesus. That was… Oh my god,”
He breathes, mostly to himself.
💥: “…Okay. Okay, that wasn’t that bad. What now?”
what now? i call Wifies, sit back and watch the show. this should be really fun for me if all goes as i expect it to.
Ash pulls out his communicator. He scrolls around in his contacts until he finds the person he's looking for.
i got him in my safe house. come to ##&$$ @&$&# and i'll open the door for you. he's alive, don't worry.
@odysseyfies
Wifies skids to a stop in the grass near where Ash told him to be, unequipping his elytra and pulling out his communicator to double-check he's at the right coordinates. Once he's sure, he shoots Ash a message.
I'm here.
Ash flips a lever from the inside, activating the entrance mechanism. Wifies starts rapidly falling, until he falls in a pool of water. From there, Ash points to a quite weakened and armorless Theo.
like i said, alive.
Wifies takes a look at Theo, then back to Ash.
Well. He is alive.
Wifies turn to address Theo.
You've definetly looked better.
( @imthebiggestbird )
Theo turns to face Wifies — with no enderchest and nearly nothing in his inventory, he’s much more disheveled than he would like to be. He smooths his expression back to neutrality, wings fluffed.
💥: “I think I can say the same for you. Been a while, huh — I really thought you were dead.”
Same here. How was the law prison? Was it exciting?
Wifies regards Theo with a blank stare that somehow still feels mocking.
Theo lifts his eyebrows.
💥: “They’ve got like… Stale bread. Really hard beds. Quite the dream vacation, really. You should take a trip there for a few months.”
Wifies scoffs.
No thanks. A few months being dead was more than enough prison for me, thank you. Glad to hear you had fun, though.
💥: “Great, great. Awesome talk. Now, can we get to the actual… You know?”
His eyes flick to the others still in full armour.
💥: “You got like… An echest, or something? Armour-? Screw it, why am I asking you in the first place — where’s Parrot?”
If I knew where parrot was, do you really think I'd be here?
Wifies places down an enderchest.
I don't really have any gear to give you, unless you want some unenchanted diamond stuff. I did just come back to life, so I'm not exactly the richest player on the server.
Theo quickly rifles through the enderchest, cursing when he can only dig out a nearly broken set of netherite missing the helmet — not nearly sufficient enough to safely hit carts.
💥: “Whatever. I guess this’ll have to do.”
He stares back at Wifies with a begrudging sigh.
💥: “Alright, thanks for getting me out of there, I guess. What do you want?”
What do I want? Why do you assume I have an ulterior motive here?
Wifies cocks his head to the side, keeping his expression neutral.
Can't I just help a friend of a friend for no specific reason?
💥: “Because I don’t trust you. And you look like you’re always scheming something.”
Theo steps back, pickaxe in hand.
💥: “If you’ll excuse me, I’ll be going, then.”
Wait.
Wifies pauses. He spoke without thinking, but he can't go back now. He glances over to Ash, who has been watching this whole conversation, thinking about what he told him the other day.
There is one thing you could do for me. You know, as a little favour.
Theo glances over at Ash too, and he narrows his eyes. He switches between his bow and pickaxe.
💥: “…And what would that be?”
You're going to go find Parrot, right? All I ask is that whenever you find him, you tell me where exactly he is. Shouldn't be too hard.
Wifies smiles in an attempt to look innocent.
💥: “I am going to find Parrot, yes. but- I’m gonna be so real with you, I’m not doing that.”
Theo just scowls harder at the other, arms crossed.
💥: “He’s busy and probably in danger right now, so I’m going to go find him and protect him. I dunno what you’d be doing, and I don’t know what happened between you two, but from what I’ve heard he wouldn’t want to see you either.”
Wifies frowns, eyes narrowing.
You do owe me, Theo. Parrot and I might not be on the best of terms right now, but I've always had his best interests at heart. Nothing bad will happen to him if you tell me where he is--- infact, I'll be able to protect him also once I have access to him again.
Wifies tries his best to keep his voice and expression neutral, but his frustration silghtly slips through.
💥: “I can get you gear, or protection, or anything of that sort. I don’t trust you, and I don’t think Parrot does either — so I’m not leading you to his whereabouts, bro, and that’s final.”
He snips, beginning to look irritated as well. Theo takes another step back, turning and raising his pickaxe again to mine out.
Wifies forces himself to take a deep breath and respond in a calculated manner, swallowing down his instinctual angry reaction.
I don't understand why you're so apprehensive. I've done nothing but help you--- which believe me, is kinder than I've ever been to one of parrots friends before. As you can clearly see, I'm trying to do things right this time, but i can't do that if I can't even talk to parrot.
Wifies becomes acutely aware of the small dagger he has tucked in his back pocket just in case. He doesn't reach for it--- he doesn't want to do anything drastic--- but he feels its weight against him, reminding him of what he's done before. What he could do again.
Theo just scoffs a little, beginning to mine his way out of the bunker with little more than a glance behind him.
💥: “So kind. Wow. I’m- so grateful. Whatever. But if you really want to fix things with Parrot — why don’t you just go talk to him yourself? Ask him to meet you, and he’ll go if he wants to talk.”
He shrugs a wing, blatantly dismissive.
💥: “You don’t need me to track him down for you. That’s ridiculous.”
That's the problem. There's no way he would want to talk to me after everything with Paragon, so this is sort of my only chance to fix things. Unless you'd rather I track him down on my own, which would involve me having to contact a lot of people you would probably rather didn't know parrots exact location.
Wifies can feel his chest tightening--- he doesn't want to have to go back to his old ways to find Parrot, but he will if he has to. He needs to find Parrot.
💥: “Why not just leave him be? I mean, if he doesn’t want anything to do with you, then… There’s no point in pushing it, no?”
Theo shrugs again, clearly indifferent, and turns away from Wifies to look through his inventory with an air of unbotheredness.
💥: “Damn, really thought my pickaxe was silk touch…”
I can't just 'leave him alone', I--- what would I even do without Parrot? Not having Parrot in my life isn't an option, I don't even know--- I don't even want to think about---
Wifies forces himself to calm his breathing, which had picked up in speed without him noticing.
I can't do that.
Theo stops in his tracks to glance at Wifies incredulously. His tone is flippant when he speaks.
💥: “… That. Sounds like a you problem. As in, like, you have problems. Look, Parrot’s safe with me. If you really need to talk to him, I’m sure you could figure something else out that wouldn’t further break your relationship.”
I don't have 'problems'. Parrot was--- is my best friend. Wanting to be around him, to be able to protect him, that's just normal. Frankly, if you don't feel that way, I have questions about if you can really consider yourself to be Parrot's friend.
[...]
Maybe there is another way to talk to him, though.
another way? you have your way to him right here. all that talk about this, all that talk about how you're going to do what you need to to get to Parrot, and now what? you got the person closest to him on a silver platter and you're just giving up. [laughs] did death really make you so uncaring about Parrot?
Ash's words hit Wifies like a stab to the gut, and he barely suppresses the urge to flinch at the notion he could ever be uncaring for Parrot.
I absolutely still care about Parrot, there's nothing in this world that matters more to me than Parrot. I...
Wifies glances at Theo. The dagger is his back pocket burns.
I'm not giving up. I will do whatever I have to for Parrot, no matter what.
Wifies let's a hand rest of the handle of his dagger. He doesn't pull it out yet--- but he's ready. He will.
Theo glares between the two of them, instantly alert.
💥: “I think for both you and Parrot’s sakes, you should stay away from him.”
He narrows his eyes, warily on the defensive. He flicks back and forth between his bow and pickaxe again, taking inventory of how he has nearly nothing to attack or defend himself with.
💥: “And I don’t know who you think I am, but I will not let you get to him that easily.”
The dagger is gripped tight in Wifies hand before he realizes. He surges forward, digging the blade into Theo's side. Blood spills out of the wound as Wifies retracts the blade, and Wifies stumbles backwards.
Fuck.
💥: “F-fuck, dude—“
Theo gasps out, sounding more stunned than in pain. Years of fight experience have him back on his feet before Wifies could recover — he turns and attempts again to mine away, one hand switching between pickaxe and blocks while the other is held to staunch the wound in his abdomen.
Blood pounds in his ears, and the numbness in his side turns into something jaggedly painful, but all he is focused on right now is getting out.
Wifies scrambles to chase after Theo, tossing the dagger onto the floor with a loud clatter. He mines in the direction Theo left in, catching up to him quickly given Theo is working with one hand.
Wait, wait---
Wifies grabs Theo's arm, stopping him from leaving. His mind feels all over the place, but he knows he needs to help Theo here, he shouldn't have attacked him, he told himself he was going to be better. He will do better, and it starts right now.
Don't run away, please, I--- I'll help you, fuck--- I shouldn't have done that.
Running on pure instinct, Theo swings his pickaxe at Wifies in a wide arc — it misses, doing little but lodging it further in the stone. He flinches from Wifies’ hold, eyes narrowed with intense focus; it only fades a little once he registers the other’s words.
💥: “You’ll help-? You’ll help me, after you just stabbed me?”
Theo laughs, half incredulous, half distracted. as he tries to pull away. He hisses in pain when it does little else than aggravate his wound.
💥: “Are you out of your mind?”
I--- I can explain better when we're both is less panicked states of mind, just, let me help you. If you keep running like this your going to make your injury worse.
Wifies has to fight his own racing mind to stay reasonable. A part of him still twitches to finish the job, but he keeps one hand firmly around Theo's arm, and the other slack at his side.
💥: “And I wonder who’s fault that is,”
Theo mutters, but he relents and sinks against the wall with a barely audible groan.
💥: “I- whatever. Fine. But only because I don’t have any gap or pots.”
There’s still a look in his eye, tense like he was ready to run at a moment’s notice, but all he does is exhale heavily. His hand falls away from the wound, coated and shiny with blood.
Wifies places down an echest behind him, pulling a first aid kit out. He rummages through it until he finds a glass bottle with some sort of clear solution and a piece of cloth, pouring it on the cloth.
Lift up your shirt. Please.
Theo does, albeit a little slowly and with a grimace. The wound is shadowed in the dim light, but it looks… Bad, to put it simply. He sinks down slowly to sit on the floor with a sigh.
💥: “Man. You got me pretty good there, I can’t lie. Fucking hell.”
Hah, thanks.
Wifies wipes at the wound with the cloth, cleaning away the blood and any dirt or debris that got in when Theo was running away. Then he pauses.
Right. This is going to sting a little.
He continues to clean the wound until it looks decently less gorey.
Theo just watches Wifies work, silent except for the occasional hiss or wince. As the other continues to clean the wound, he closes his eyes, his face scrunched in a grimace as he looks away.
💥: “…Are you almost done here?”
Well, you definetly need stitches but if you're confident you can find someone else to stitch you up in less than 8 hours without aggravating your wound in some way then yes, we're almost done here.
Wifies finishes cleaning the wound, tossing the bloody cloth on the ground. He gives Theo a blank stare.
Theo returns Wifies’ stare with a look that is infinitely more hostile, slowly stumbling back to his feet.
💥: “Great. If there’s nothing else you can do I’ll just… Get going, then.”
He inhales and exhales, clearly trying to look unaffected despite the clear pain he is in. Shakily but resolutely he fumbles for his pickaxe again.
Wifies blinks in surprise.
Wait, at least let me put bandages on that--- are you trying to get an infection?
Wifies pulls a roll of bandages out of the first aid kit, standing up to be level with Theo again.
This will only take 2 seconds.
He doesn't wait for Theo to respond before hastily wrapping some bandages around the cut, just enough to stop any further bleeding.
There.
Theo blinks at Wifies owlishly, before looking away with a huff of frustration and mild embarrassment.
💥: “Well- sorry for being in a bit of a time rush, I kind of- didn’t think of that.”
He checks the dressing gingerly, surprised to find them relatively well done despite the haste.
💥: “Can I go now?”
Yes, you can go.
Wifies sighs, packing up his first aid kit and putting it back in his ender chest. He takes a moment to organize it, making sure he can find it easily in case he needs it again.
Sorry about stabbing you. By the way. I can't say I didn't mean to, because I did, but... sorry. I don't actually want to kill you. You're fine.
Theo snorts, waving a hand dismissively.
💥: “Yeah, no, yeah, getting stabbed, totally normal experience. I can’t exactly say I didn’t mean what I said either, because I did.”
Theo glances around, sighing as he takes in the hasty tunnel he’d made.
💥: “Do I just… Keep mining out, or is there an actual exit to this place?”
Wifies shrugs.
This is Ash's place. Your guess is as good as mine.
Wifies hesitates for a moment.
It'll probably be better for both of us if you just mine out.
Theo makes an expression that looks halfway worried and halfway relieved. He glances behind them, as if Ash might come after them any second now. He gives Wifies a curt nod.
💥: “Right. Well. Thanks for getting me out of Law prison. Not so much for the… Stab wound. I’ll get going now.”
Good luck.
Wifies backs up, filling in the tunnel behind Theo with whatever blocks he had on hand. Once he gets close to Ash's field of view, he stops placing.

@odysseyfies
You. Come on while the guards are distracted. I sent a decoy army for them to busy themselves with but they're just some low-level players. We don't have a lot of time, so follow me.

@odysseyfies
Wifies pulls a roll of bandages out of the first aid kit, standing up to be level with Theo again.

the rooks are dropping like flies, we have ten minutes max. you don't need armor or anything, i have a safe house just about ten thousand blocks from here. we'll get there and i'll call Wifies to get you.
@odysseyfies

@odysseyfies
