ROMY.
* closed starter for / @ofchapmans !
hope at a time such as THIS hurt. this, romy knew - and she knew it fairly well. it been a year of heartbreak and joy, but nothing had hit harder than the death of her boy ; and nothing was more difficult to cope with, than knowing that she couldn’t even grieve properly. she’d never known him, not really, and he had CERTAINLY never known her. he was an unfortunate causality in a family grudge that he wasn’t even aware of, and now, never would be. she’d spent a lot of time crying, of late.
so ; seeing a familiar name… seeking the person who held it OUT - it was a strange sort of dichotomy. if she were wrong, and the jasper chapman she had known was really, truly DEAD, then reopening that wound at a time such as this would be more than she could handle. if hope won out, though… if he was ALIVE - well. a reunion now would be bitter, but but still sweet.
she wanted it to be him. more than she had wanted anything, EVER. at this point in time, romy needed a small fraction of her heart back - and it was jaz who could maybe help her along that path.
“i’m looking for jasper chapman.” she should have really been looking towards the receptionist, if not just because it was the nice thing to do - but instead, her gaze DANCED around the space, searching the heaps of junk and brokedown cars for a face she feared seeing… and not seeing. “he WORKS here, right?”
as much as he hated to admit it. jasper chapman was an OLD man. he had seen and done so many unspeakable things, dealt with far too much pain and yet somehow he was still HERE there had to be something said to that didn’t there. he was far too scarred and carried far too many ghosts but he was not gone like so much that he had loved before. he wasn’t sure when his life had become this some sort of fight just to wake up each morning, but somewhere a long the line it had.
starting out the new year in a new place there was some odd sort of symmetry to it even he had to admit. he liked the new garage, paragon was certainly one of the more interesting places he had lived in recent years ( although he had not really taken the chance to walk around just yet ) and the people he worked with had a habit of asking too many questions.
in effect jaz was simply allowed to keep to himself which is frankly how he liked it as a man who tended to spend too much time wrapped up in his own head. talking to clara even though he knew she wasn’t there.
he hadn’t been passing by reception for any real reason, just needed to get something from the other side of the auto shop. when the SOUND of a familiar voice is enough to make him stop in his tracks. it couldn’t be. could it. he’s scared to even look as he turned around but sure enough there was the familiar face he had been longing to see all these years. “romy?” suddenly standing there he’s twenty years old again. “romy!”
( NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU, MALE, HE/HIM ) — ✧ THAT LOOKS LIKE JASPER CHAPMAN ! THEY’RE THE FOURTY EIGHT YEAR OLD, I HEAR THEY’RE PRAGMATIC & LOYAL, BUT TEND TO BE RESERVED & VENGEFUL THEY ARE A MECHANIC IN TOWN AT PARAGON. HIS FILE SAYS THAT HIS POWER IS ANIMATION/REANIMATION.
