❛ I remember T-SHIRT WEATHER. I remember some days we were singing our lungs O U T in the backseat TOGETHER. And the seatbelts were burning our fingers in the T-SHIRT WEATHER. I remember ( sleeping ) till the early AFTERNOON. drinks fly like birds A C R O S S the kitchen trouble S T I R S. And I'm tongue-tied by words I used to know. ❜

KWON:

lucia was pleased to see that she had gotten samantha by surprise. she nodded, giggling to herself as she watched the older female accept the gifts. “ don’t worry about it, please. i saw them in the window on my way over and i couldn’t help but get some for you. i thought you’d like something cute and cheesy because that’s what first dates are about right?” lucia grinned before stepping besides samantha. she was ready to get their night started when a thought crossed her mind. “ oh !  do you need to put these away somewhere first or do you think you wouldn’t mind having a teddy bear bodyguard on our date ? ”

samantha toyed with the teddy bear in her hands. “ you’re definitley not WRONG. then again, i’m definitely not the one to be cheesy, ” the brunette chuckled. she had an inkling of how her night was probably going to go. it was mini golf, it’s cute. “ no it’s totally fine, i think i can LIVE with the teddy bear bodyguard. speaking of which, we should probably get going. ”

BECKETT:

“ c’mon, sam. you go around sharing useless valentine’s day facts but you’re telling me you haven’t figured out the magic to removing stains ?? ” emerson’s words, though dripping in sarcasm, held a serious tone as the male attempted to pull off a more dramatic ( and unconvincing ) form of annoyance and disbelief.  “ you’re a DISGRACE to san francisco. ” he made sure to shoot her a glare before grabbing a handful of napkins from the dispenser and turning to wipe the table as well as his shirt ( that was already beyond help, but still worth a try ).

samantha let out a laugh at her emerson’s sarcasm. “ now, now emerson, we mustn’t spew such words. i said i didn’t HAVE it on me, doesn’t mean i didn’t FIGURE it out, ” she teased. truthfully, with the amount of times she’s seen coffee stains around the office, she figured it out. “ if you had club soda, i would say it works in getting the stain out. ”

WALKER:

“yeah, i don’t see that happening very soon. i know a lot of people who love the holiday and want their boyfriends or whomever to spend bunches on flowers that are just going to die within the week. it’a all very sad really. ah, sounds like what i’ll be doing, but with beer and pizza.”

“ this is probably the reason why i’ve been out of the dating game for so LONG. but i guess the holiday has set some pretty high expectations. i mean, i’d much rather be spending time back in my apartment right now. maybe i’ll just chill there and then meet back when it’s time for the blind date or whatever. ”

CORTÉS:

“believe me, i spend a good thirty minutes a day just looking up random facts on my computer while i wait for my videos to render. sometimes it’s more than just thirty minutes. i don’t know why i feel the need to know all of this useless facts, but hey, they entertain me.” gabi shrugged with a small laugh, shaking her head. “the people who have told you that sound like real sticks in the mud. our facts aren’t hurting anyone so they should just get over themselves.” she said with a fake huff. “i don’t know what it is about wine that i don’t particularly care for. might be the fact i used to have it for communion at church and it made me hate it? who knows. of course, sunday brunches are the best time to have champagne.”

“ doesn’t exactly help that i sometimes have to look into things for a story i’m writing. i do have to stay on top of things. and yet –– TWO HOURS in, i start looking at random facts on just about anything, ” samantha admitted with a laugh. “ i mean, they’re all a bit NEGATIVE i’ll admit. then again it’s probably just the whole mood about valentine’s day and whatnot, ” she shrugged. there wasn’t much she could do about it. “ i mean, i’m more of a rosé person than i am with red wine. i will have a glass occasionally. speaking of which, i’m probably going to leave soon. i’ve got better wine waiting for me in my apartment. so i mean, i’ll see you around ? ”

VALENTINE:

“Exactly, and come on now how often do Valentine’s day plans go like how it’s advertised? That’s true though — I guess realism just doesn’t SELL love enough, according to them anyway. Somehow it works,  as I see on a daily basis, all the relationship goals people tweet about that are just as ridiculous. Suppose that’s just life, I mean if all that actually works for some then good on them, I won’t knock ‘em for being happy.” While what they’d been discussing was true, she also didn’t want to start sounding bitter about the whole thing. “Any sign of either and you just get out of there quick.” Desirae nodded, laughing a bit. “Kinda figured, well let’s just hope for the best as it goes on.” 

“ it’s just VERY unrealistic. and it’s a shame because i feel like the holiday can be interpreted in different ways, but as you said, realism doesn’t sell love enough. i feel like the relationship goals only exist because it’s a physical perception of what one wants –– but i guess if it works, then it works. no use saying otherwise. ” samantha merely shrugged. she could only hope that she didn’t sound bitter, after all, she was impartial to the holiday. “ honestly, that’s my plan. either that or i just pretend that something important just came up on my phone, ” she chuckled. “ let’s hope that’s certainly the case. ”

“see, i tell myself that all the time, but i am yet to be able to just go with the flow.”

“ i can see how it can be a bit difficult to do so. ”

WALKER:

“don’t get me wrong, i don’t mind spending money one other people. i actually spend more on others than i do on myself, but with the way the prices are hiked for one day, it just seems like a waste of money. i work hard for it and i don’t like blowing it to the wind so whoever i’m dating can brag about it on social media.” marcus shrugged, clearly very passionate on the subject, but ready to be done with it. “so, you aren’t doing anything fancy and romantic on valentines day?”

“ you’re not wrong. the prices are rather ridiculous for just ONE day. but it’s not like the consumers can do much about them –– well aside from the fact that we can try to boycott valentine’s day, but that’s never going to happen, ” samantha mused. “ probably not. i’m just going to kick back and enjoy some quality wine. ”

FONTAINE:

“I wish it didn’t become a romantic holiday, all it leads to are cavities and people feeling lonely.” She paused, laughing softly. “And babies, but they’ll all come out as Scorpios and I don’t trust Scorpios anymore. I had a best friend and she was a Scorpio and she stole a bunch of my clothes and my boyfriend, so I would say it’s justified.” Lorelai bit down on her bottom lip, her face heating up slightly. “You’re not the only one babbling, so no worries.” 

“ it’s not the romance that i mind, it’s the fact that this holiday is so heavily MARKETED that i just get sick of seeing so much pink and red. it hurts to look, ” she laughed. “ but that sounds rather unfortunate. i’m sorry to hear about that. on the bright side, at least she’s out of your life. out of sight, out of mind, ” samantha shrugged. “ it’s good to know that i’m not ALONE when it comes to babbling. ”

The trick of the trade is working with great actors. It’s like free acting courses. I didn’t take a lot of theater in college, but I certainly have come a long way since I started.

CORTÉS:

“yes really!” gabi told the other with a nod, pulling out her phone to pull up a certain text thread. “you’re talking to the person who gets random animal facts texted to her phone daily, and has for the past year.” she said with a laugh. “i like learning about small things like that, plus they’re a really good way to start a conversation about something. they might not be the most useful things in the world, but hey, they’re interesting.” she shrugged. “it’s a lot better than the boxed wine i used to get as a teenager, however, you’re right.. i’m missing the bottle of champagne i have sitting in my apartment. my night isn’t too bad, still trying to get used to actually being social, but not to bad.”

samantha laughed along with the other woman and shook her head. at least she wasn’t ALONE. “ i mean at least you get them texted to your phone. i’ve just been googling stuff and then stumbling upon other things. it’s so bad. hell, half the things i’m talking about i’ve seen on NASA or even the history channel, ” she shrugged. “ i’ve been told otherwise that it’s not much of a conversation starter. but i would like to believe otherwise, ” she took a sip of her drink, trying her best not to cringe at the taste. “ i mean, i’m more of a rosé wine type of person. but i can appreciate all types of wine, and champagne. i like to save champagne for the sunday brunches. ”

lucia hadn’t been out on a proper first date in m o n t h s, so to say she was excited for her blind date was an understatement. she couldn’t wait to get out and have some fun for an evening. she had received her card letting her know where she and her date were going as well as where to meet up. she wanted to impress her date so the girl had made sure to stop for a simple gift. lucia recognized the name of her blind date, but they hadn’t really spoken very much. hopefully, the evening would turn out to be a delightful surprise and the beginning of a wonderful friendship. she saw that samantha was already waiting for her just outside of the apartment and lucia rushed forward, a balloon covering her face. “ surprise, valentine ! ” she giggled, lowering the balloon from her face and offering both it and a small teddy bear to the other. “ these are for you. happy valentine’s day ! ”

to say samantha hadn’t been in the game for a while was an UNDERSTATEMENT. sure, she had been on a couple dates, but those weren’t exactly going anywhere in her opinion. and if she were being quite honest, she didn’t give the blind date much of a second thought. the name on the card she was given was recognizable, but that was as far as it went. either way, samantha found herself waiting outside of the apartment, browsing through her phone. she looked up once she heard someone addressing her and was met with a BALLOON before it lowered. “ i am not going to lie, this certainly a surprise, ” she laughed and accepted both the balloon and teddy bear. “ you really didn’t have to ! i feel bad now since i didn’t have the time to get you anything. ”

RHYS:

“exactly. ‘waiting for all the candies to go on sale’? why? i can just buy you anything you want. you know money’s no issue for my friends.”

“ while i realize that is TRUE. i can’t exactly pass up such a good deal. if you think about it, i’m trying to get the best bang for my buck and paying for the overpriced cheap chocolates will not do if i just bought them before the sale. besides, i can probably indulge in some godiva or prestat if anything. ”

MEYERS:

sloane grinned, knowing samantha had a point. “you’re right, but i’m such a worrier, it’s horrible.”

“ it doesn’t do well to worry. and while i am a firm believer of doing what you want to do, sometimes you just have to sit back and just let life do it’s thing. ”

WALKER:

marcus nodded in agreement, still a little perplexed about the christmas card debacle, but deciding to leave it alone. “it really is. i’ve only ever been in a relationship during valentines day once and let’s just say, i am apparently not the most romantic guy. she wanted to go to a fancy restaurant and have me buy her a bunch of flowers and chocolate, which is fine, I just said we should celebrate a few days after v-day. she didn’t like that idea and proceeded to dump me, but i think she still had a good valentines day considering the next day had a valentine.” chuckling at the whole situation, ever since, marcus has made sure to be single during february. “it’s just a day for people to rub it in others faces that they are happy and in love at least one day out of the year.”

samantha listened intently before shrugging in response. “ i mean, it would make more sense to celebrate a couple days AFTER the holiday. everything is actually decently marked then. i’m sure restaurants hike up the prices or offer some valentine’s day special that makes it seem like it’s worth your money when it’s really NOT. either way, it sounds rather unfortunate, and i definitely can’t blame you for wanting to stay single during this time of year. use that money to treat yourself or something, ” she suggested with a laugh. “ i think the whole ordeal is just ridiculous and a tad bit EXTRA. ”

FISCHER:

“ oh man, i bloody LOVE the history channel. literally, like, i had to get a friend to password-protect the television for me because it began to fill my head with too many theories. it single-handedly managed to make me believe that the great pyramid of giza was a geomechanical power plant and that hitler survived world war two and lived his life out without any mishaps… i really do hope that the last one’s not true, though. ” perhaps he shouldn’t be speaking about a fascist leader during a valentine’s day party, but the mention of the history channel seems to have triggered something within the raven, causing him to get far too exuberant. “ you got any other weird facts ? ”

“ that is definitely taking things to an EXTREME. but you gotta love how dramatic the channel makes things. then again, one time i spent fourth of july just marathoning sons of liberty just because i saw ben barnes’ face –– not sure how those conclusions came to be, but i’m sure everyone has their CONSPIRACY theories. ” samantha shook her head, chuckling. it probably wasn’t the most suitable topic during a valentine’s day party. but screw it. “ in terms of anything astronomy related, then sure. ”
