“We know what you did, you know what you did.” // From Eliza!
“… but you have to pay me.”
his head tips to the side in a curious tilt as he inspects the woman before him. she is small, && utterly unintimidating. someone might as well have set a pussy cat at his feet && set it off hissing. as even mentally stable people did, he is tempted to just squeeze the tiny thing until her breaths cease. fortunately for elizabeth, murder was too messy for him to clean up && feel secure with. certainly he would be first on the list of people to be inspected if alexander’s wife turned up dead or missing.
❝—- && what did i do, miss? ❞ he knows, of course. knows damn well that he’s torn a family to shreds. still, half the fun is in getting whoever had the courage to confront him as angry as possible.
❝—- i can assure you, i am not aware of any wrongdoing on my behalf. ❞
"You look like an avocado had sex with an older, more disgusting avocado."
“you will die alone.”
his eyebrow quirks upwards as he stares down the taller man. plenty of things could be said about james reynolds: he was barely literate, a conman, manipulative, the list went on. but ugly? not hardly. his spirit was hideous, but physically he was well-built && groomed, with high cheekbones, a straight nose, && piercing eyes.
❝—- you && me both know that ain’t true, pal. ❞
"Your face is the stuff of nightmares."
“you will die alone.”
❝—- aw, baby. talking to yourself again? ❞ he smirks at the girl, reaching a hand out to take her chin. the hamilton children have quickly evolved into his new favorite playthings. the fact that they seemingly have all inherited their father’s obstinance only makes it that much better. ❝—- if you gave me a smile you wouldn’t be half bad, though. ❞
i begged him to stay.

The 19th icon in your folder is your muse’s reaction to being locked in a cage with a tiger
You have everyone afraid of you Reynolds but I think you're just a bully and a liar. I'm not afraid.
❝—- a bully? ❞ he laughs. ❝—- what is this, kindergarten? ❞
“I know it came from you. Like. Fess up!”
“… but you have to pay me.”
the faint flush of anger on the other man’s cheeks amused him, almost earning a laugh. if only this damned holding cell weren’t so cramped maybe his sense humor would be in better condition.
❝—- i don’t know what you’re talking about. ❞ it wasn’t a convincing plea, but it didn’t need to be. what could hamilton do? he was untouchable at this point, literally so thanks to the iron bars that separated him from the other man, though the same obviously could not be said for his wife. he only needed to make sure that he stayed that way – easy enough.
he was the one to set the wheels turning. after he had been arrested for his primary scheme of buying up pensions, hamilton had been sold out. just as james had hoped, that nice little tidbit of information had significantly shortened his sentence.
the man leaned against the hay cot that strayed so far from his regular craving for grandeur, a sly grin splitting his face. even in a cold jail cell filled with rat droppings, he was in a better position than alexander.
maria reynolds:
The young Mrs. Reynolds found herself otherwise preoccupied nowadays. Her time was spent taking care of Susan, assuring that she was well cared for and protected. Her thoughts of divorce were far from subsiding though. It was just a lot harder to go about making it work, considering that James now knew what she wished to do. It was almost impossible to leave the house to even seek out another lawyer. She knew that if she did manage to make it out, word would get back to her husband without fail. And he would be informed that she was seen fraternizing with someone who could help her leave. Maria was certain that wouldn’t go over too well. The best option was to push those thoughts aside and be as obedient as possible. At the moment, the woman’s attention was on her daughter. Susan seemed the most unaffected by all of this. Perhaps it was because she was just too young to understand what had transpired.
She was too young to understand how her father acted and what he had done. Maria doubted she’d go about telling her, though. Her attention is pulled away from the child and to the voice calling for her. There’s a sharp inhale before she stands, exits the room and rushes towards the source of the sound. She must be quick, otherwise the consequences would be horrid. Within an instant, she is right by his side, ready for whatever he had to say. ❛ Yes, James? ❜
it takes perhaps just a second too long for maria to rush to his side, && by the time she makes her appearance in the cramped study he is already fuming. since the failed attempt at a divorce his temper had only worsened. despite maria trying her hardest to keep him satisfied by doing everything he said as quickly as was humanly possible, he was still beyond irritable. the abuse worsened concerning smaller grievances, as larger mistakes were too few && far between for him to properly let off the steam that built up without leaving her dead. he wouldn’t have cared so much about that if he wasn’t fully aware that he would be sent back to jail for it.
his leg jumps with impatience, head turning to cat his young bride a harsh glare. ❝—- you’re late. ❞ the words drip with venom, anger growling in his chest at the few precious moments she must have wasted. his fingers snap in a nonverbal command && he points to the floor by his side – a motion for her to kneel.
so my williamsburg trip got me real hype and I’m thinking about making another blog or two so vote on what muse i should go with pls
john laurens:
Laurens sneered at this man lack of knowing the spirit’s fury growing in an absolute rage as he stared at this man. Did the ex-soldier consider him such? Probably not. However, his kind demeanor did not change perhaps coming off a bit creepy as that smiled was plastered on his cheeks.
“Oh!? So I was right~? That’s good, I’ve got the right man then!”
John didn’t hesitate in his stride, getting rather close so that the other man could feel the chill of his ghostly exterior.
“I’ve been looking for you. You’ve really made a mess of things, so–”
THWACK!
Something from across the way had bashed itself into the other at a high speed more than likely knocking Reynolds to the ground. It had just barely missed Laurens, causing the spirits hair to flutter, then again, it wasn’t like he’d be hit. More than likely, the item would have fazed right through him.
when the man approached him he felt a shiver creeping its way up his spine. oh, god. he was angry – james could practically feel the coldness radiating from him. a hand reached into his coat, finding the pistol hidden there, && a finger rested on the safety. just as he prepared to pull the weapon when the man came too close for comfort, he crumpled in on himself && stumbled backwards.
❝—- son of a bitch! ❞
he barked the words through breathless gasps. whatever had collided with his chest had knocked the wind out of him, && his torso twisted around in search of the offending object.
his suspicion of laurens had dulled him to whatever else was going on in his surroundings. while he was practically certain it hadn’t been him, as it felt too heavy to be a fist, he was still wary of the younger man that now stood above him.
marquise de lafayette:
The woman looked at the man with sorrow written in her eyes. How she pitied the man and how she could sympathized with him. They do not understand her as well. She was a woman and her decision was to fight. Many never understood her motives because they never bothered to ask. Even though she was hated because of this, she kept her mother’s last words close to her chest. She was willing to wait for it. To wait until they accept she was unlike any other women.
Ever so slowly and cautiously, she walked beside him and used her finger to turn his chin to her. Her soft thumbs wiped his tears, “I know how you feel,” She said quietly. “But love does not discriminate, although the world seemed against you, you should know you’re never alone.”
his head tilted into her touch, && he mimed a pitiful sniffle when she brushed his tears dry. he lived merely for the look in her eyes, one of pity for a situation he had falsified entirely. nothing was wrong that he himself had not purposefully constructed. somehow she truly bought his act – he truly must be a magnificent actor.
slowly, as if he were afraid, a hand crept to her waist && pulled her forward with mock uncertainty. ❝—- you are the only one. ❞ the only one with so little intelligence as to actually believe him. james had to bite back his laughter at the the woman’s words. she was barely anything more than a naïve child, with too much hope in her heart && too much trust in the goodness of man. god save her. his head falls forward to rest his forehead against her shoulder, continuing in his sniveling. women always seemed to favor a man who was not afraid to cry.
angelica hamilton:
❝ BASTARD !!! ❞
she screams as her hair is pulled, the pain shooting across her head. she stumbles on her feet as he pulls her down, her hand flying up to dig her nails into whatever part of his face she can reach. hopefully she can reach the part of his face that is swelling up. she barely has time to scream before his hands are on her throat. black spots dance in her vision, and she knows that if she can’t get him to let go, she’ll soon pass out – and god knows what he’ll do to her then. she whacks a balled up fist into his crotch and the rush of air that hits her lungs is almost intoxicating.
he barely reacts to the clawing that rakes his cheek, too flooded with adrenaline to bother with the four red lines scratched into his skin. it stings, but not enough for him to pull back && lick his wounds. thoughts linger on the image of teaching this girl her place, beating a lesson into her unconscious body in more than the way of punches && kicks.
with his focus solely on the consciousness flickering away from angelica’s eyes, he doesn’t notice her hand lower && clench.
the sharp pain in his groin elicits a sudden, low groan similar to a beast being awoken. bruises turn to blood in his mind – if james gets ahold of her, he’ll kill her. hands that had previously clutched the girl release && shove her away before cupping over himself in a weak attempt at comfort or protection as he hunches over.
maria reynolds:
@ofcuckolds gets a starter @ 2 am bc i love my husbando
Oh, how she could feel the judgmental eyes of those around them on her. It seems that was all that happened nowadays. Maria had been branded as a whore since the pamphlet had been published. And, everyone knew her desire to get away from her husband. Yet, no one was willing to help her after all that Alexander had said. They feared the same thing or worse happening to them. So, she was stuck with James whether she liked it or not. She was certain that added to their already negative opinions of her. It seems she just can’t win in this situation. Though, she’d try to make the best of the outing. It was rare that she was allowed to venture out of the house, so this was something to treasure. Yes, she had to walk at James’ side but that was a given considering what she’d do if she wasn’t monitored.
She’d perk up upon seeing friends of hers. It had been quite some time since she last conversed with them, so her excitement is understandable. The woman gave a small wave, and began to step aside to go over to them. She swore she’d be quick with the conversation, she wouldn’t keep him waiting. Though her plans to move cease as she feels a hand curl around her wrist, now pulling her back to where she was. Right, she wasn’t allowed to leave his side. But, perhaps she could try to get some freedom. ❛ I promise I will be quick, James. Please, let me talk to them. ❜
james’ pride has not shrunk. his chin is held high as he walks the street with maria in tow, leaving in his wake a series of mumbles && whispers. all of philadelphia knows their faces. he is the cuckold who was so kind as to keep his cheating wife under his wing && continue to support her. sob stories of hardships had freed him, && though neither reynolds is trusted, he is freed from their perception of inadequacy. maria faces the brunt of the social recoil: she is a whore, an adulteress, && now the world knows it. even james no longer trusts her. during his brief stay in jail, she had attempted to enlist one aaron burr as a divorce attorney. her plea had been denied, however, && through his connections word had reached james. needless to say his wife had nearly been sent to the hospital, && spent the next week recovering from her injuries after his liberation.
now she was forbidden to leave his side, every action carefully monitored – even in their own home several bells were tied around her neck in a humiliating makeshift collar. no one could speak with her unless he authorized it, && such approval was rarely given.
so, when she attempts to leave him during their little outing, james' grip quickly tightens on her. he doesn’t know the person maria is attempting to interact with, && therefore cannot, will not, trust them. the dismissal comes easily, paired with a warning glance towards the friend && a sharp pinch that bites into his wife's side: ❝—- i have places to be. ❞

james’ wife && child have become insufficient.
the funds raised by whoring the girls out had fallen into a downwards spiral, men no longer willing to risk their reputation on the now well-known family. if he could leave philadelphia perhaps their faces would be unrecognized, but with all of his money spent on liquor he can’t afford it. the only solution that he saw was to take in another girl – just young enough to be broken, just old enough to be used.
the abduction was so quick no one could have seen it. one moment there had been a young girl standing on the street corner, && the next she was gone.
❝—- i have no intention to kill you unless you cause trouble. ❞ he keeps a hand on the back of the girl’s skull while leading her through the cramped home. she’s small, but still has a bit more meat on her bones than little susan, && seems to be a tad older. ❝—-listen to me && be good, && everything will be fine. ❞
apologies for the dip in activity!! the motel we’re staying at has no internet, and i’ve been trying not to eat up my data too badly.
eliza hamilton holly:
The thing about being a woman is that you become hyperaware of the movements of others—especially the movements of men. Eliza feels his fingers, hovering, as though he is already touching her, and his leering smile makes her want to vomit. One hand waits ready to pull out the blade she keeps on hand, she will use it, if she must. Perhaps Mr. Reynolds will wise up and realize just who he is messing with before Eliza has to cut him. “Ah, but we both know you are nothing close to a gentleman,” her hand moved to push his away from her person, and she stands her ground. “A true gentleman would know never to presume he has permission to touch anyone.”
though he could easily fight back against the girl, he doesn’t, just allows her to push him to arm’s length. let her believe she has any power over him. when he ruins that idea, it will just make it that much more entertaining. ❝—- i didn’t touch you, now did i? ❞ james feigns a look of hurt, almost pouting down at her as his hands raise in mock surrender to show his empty palms. ❝—- listen, i’m sure your daddy’s told you some awful things about me, but i ain’t that bad. ❞ in all truth, that was accurate – he was much worse. none of the hamiltons had any way of knowing just how awful he truly was, though certainly the man of the household came closest.
