he stared at her in silence for a second before nodding, âyou have a point there, i canât deny that. however, iâm just going to blame the stars and ask people if they are leos from here on out. itâs kind a perfect ice breaker if you ever want to randomly approach an interesting looking individual but donât know what to talk about.â he paused, tilting his head slightly, âwould it have worked on you, k? if i asked âare you a leo?â would it have sparked your interest to talk to me or just had you say âyouâre an idiot. bye.âÂ
as their conversation shifts to the his suggestion of visiting the abandoned building he is pleasantly surprised by her reaction to it. âthatâs the kind of energy iâm talking about! letâs go. we just need to grab my camera from my place real quick and then off we go.â he grinned.  (mini time skip to the abandoned building) with his evp recorder safely tucked into his hoodie pocket and camera secured in his head, soren makes his way up the half broken down building. âjeez. this place looks like itâs about as kept together as my life is.â he commented, before looking over at her, âbe careful, yeah? i wouldnât want you to get hurt. iâd feel pretty shitty if you ended up becoming part of the hauntings in this place, youâre way too cool for that.â
âAsking if someoneâs a leo is like those dumbass gags in sit-coms where they ask how far along a person is, âcept it turns out theyâre not pregnant.â If anyone were to ever ask her if there was some leo in her chart, theyâd most likely get a swift slap to the cheek. Not really, but at the very least the poor soul in question would be on the unfortunate receiving end of an equally bruising choice of words.
After a brief pause, Kaya advises, âbetter to ask if theyâre a libra. Everyone seems to love those.â Not that she knows why. In Kayaâs experience, they tend to be the biggest shit stirrers out there.
Watching Soren âworkâ has always been something thatâs struck Kayaâs curiosity. As much as she enjoys the spotlight, she tends to prefer sticking to the bleachers and watch the ghost hunters at work. She stands firmly in the realm of ambivalence, sometimes swaying towards firm belief while other moments occupy pure skepticism; either way, Kayaâs in no rush to mess with invisible shit that might fuck her up. But, hey, Sorenâs the one messing with this stuff, so he ought to be the first target. Enough to give her a head start, should she need to bolt.
Somewhere in the structureâs cavities, a drip echoes. Itâs clichĂ©, Kaya considers, given what theyâre here for. The hot summer breeze carrying one season into the next whistles through nooks and crannies, and she almost has to snort as she follows Soren, hands in her pockets, footing confident despite the rotting wood beneath them.
Kaya quirks a brow. âYouâre pretty generous with your compliments, man,â she points out. âI mean, itâs true, Iâm very cool, butââ Just then, the toe of her sneaker catches on a loose floorboard. Gravity yanks her forwards, and Kaya flails, grabbing onto Sorenâs arm to keep her from stumbling. âShit, fuck-nuggets!â
