near death experienceโฆย what led to her becoming an eo were truly a series of unfortunate events, just an accident after the other that truly couldn't have been expected. stella had left work late to dinner with her family, and was distracted โ she spaced out and took a wrong turn, cursed herself for being even later, and then noticed a car coming at her down a one-way street. for someone with a healthy dose of anxiety looming over her at all times, the split second she had to think before the collision was " why didn't i see this coming? " because when push comes to shove, she should've thought about this possibility, why wouldn't something like this not happen to her? she survived, barely, but turns out second-guessing yourself even at the face of death has its benefits .
powerโฆย finding out about her precognition was quite frankly terrifying โ no one is truly prepared to suddenly start getting flashes of everything that's about to happen in the next few seconds, totally at random with no warning at all. that isn't to say it doesn't come in handy even in day to day situations โ her precognition kicks in usually when she's in perceived danger, but it's not particularly good at discriminating what danger is. sometimes, it's true life or death, sometimes it's the possibility of stepping in a puddle or knocking over her favourite vase. over the years she's come to learn how to control it to an extent โ if she focuses hard enough, she can force a vision , but truly her power ends up giving her more daily headaches than anything else .
drawbacks / vulnerabilitiesโฆย ultimately stella's precognition doesn't have too many drawbacks other than having the ability to be genuinely annoying, and being incredibly inconsistent. they're also very limited in terms of time โ she only has 15 seconds of foresight, and no amount of effort will push that further. any abilities that affect foresight ( i.e. if someone can predict someone's next combat move, for example ) will always be a huge detriment to her, as what she sees is never fixed โ it can change, and be easily intercepted .
cerberus corpโฆย applying for cerberus was less a case of " this is my dream job " and more of a situation where she kept running into issues at her old job as a sous chef. her ability triggered incredibly often ( surprisingly, a kitchen full of flammable items can be very dangerous โ thankfully by now her power's more stable ) and cerberus seemed like a safe bet. as far as the actual work is concerned, stella's motto has been to keep her head down and just do her job, go where she's needed and then go home. sometimes she's useful in more stressful missions, sometimes her power's too much of a wildcard and she can do something quieter. is her job her favourite thing in the world? no but it's not the worst and sometimes that's a good spot to be in .
codenameโฆย the choice of a codename was more nerve-wracking than she'd expected, and delphi seemed like the best option out of the ones in rotation โ pythia was another one she'd toyed with, but it felt too presumptuous. all in all, it's a solid codename that she doesn't mind going by, and one she's come to cherish as a part of herself too.
