The shellmet is finally done
Air plants!
More WIPs. Haven’t finished anything in a while, but I’m always working on something.
A more horror oriented mask build. Burlap is fun to work with even if I’m not entirely satisfied with the outcome. More on construction over here for those interested.
Quick WIP pictures of a 2/3 finished mask. There will be exhaust pipes involved.
A quick build of something I drew back in 2012. Tissue paper makes a really fun mummified skin texture.
Yes, you can see out of it.
Halloween 2016
Ramblings about construction materials and techniques and an excessive amount of pictures can be found here.
Happy Halloween 2016! Great times were had at the Portsmouth Halloween Parade as always. Iwasheremomentsago I was honored to experience your first parade with you (I'm the creepy on the left, she's the cute owl on the right). Construction details on the costume coming on my blog, stay tuned.
*Update 11/1/16: Construction details and an an excessive amount of photos can be found here.
Haven’t updated in a while. Here’s a couple WIP photos.
Updated test tube spice rack! The original plan was to use chalkboard paint on the tubes for labeling, but the paint did not stick to glass as advertised. However, chalkboard tape works beautifully, and is much easier to apply. Now to find other things that need chalkboard tape stuck to them...
Semi-quick pencil practice (it took hours rather than days).
The eyes are a little more green and less flat in person.
Yes, another one. They keep getting better. This one is not completely finished, but I’m not going to be able to work on it for a while so I figured I’d upload pictures now. See http://offthedeependart.blogspot.com/2016/02/and-another-one.html for more pictures and info, as well as a (crappy) lighting video.
I’ll figure out how to take decent videos sometime, but today is not that day. For now, have a poor quality teaser of a current project (the lights actually are flickering, that’s not the camera).
This illusion is called an infinity mirror. Still needs a lot of cleaning up.
Finally had time to fix/finish my test tube spice rack (the darker one on the left). It looks good next to Sam’s.
Also, I have an official art blog now, over here. There’s nothing too different over there that’s not already here, but I do go more in depth about the methods and materials of some projects (for instance, how to get that green tone in the wood). And I ramble a bit about stuff.
From here on out, this account is going to be pretty much photos and the occasional blurb. Which is sort of what it became anyway.
Eventually this will get a background, but it’s been sitting around for months now...
Fun fact: you can make a great texture stamp for charcoal out of craft foam.
Quick photos of the gloves I wore on Halloween, because I realized I never took pictures of them. The gloves are made of sheer nylon tights, which is sort of hard to notice in the photos, but that was the point. The details were all dry-brushed on while wearing them. The nails and fingertips are made of model magic and coated in several layers of wood glue.
