Put your money where your mouth is. 💸💋💸 If you want big money out of politics, donate to the only campaign not beholden to super PACs. Bernie just needs $3 tonight for the Super Tuesday primaries. Go for the candidate fighting climate change, college debt and a warped system of justice. I'm all about engaging in critical debates about each candidate, but I believe Bernie has the answers that truly has the American people at heart (not the billionaires) 🇺🇸

Who knew collegiate papers covered protests, environmentalism and how to be better journalists? Absolutely in love with @linknewspaper at Concordia University in Montreal. Check out thelinknewspaper.ca to see what I'm talking about #Concordia #Montreal

2015 is over, but I still have a few words to say about it & thank yous to make: It was easily the hardest year of my life. Apart from moving to three global cities & juggling friendships and scholarly obligations, I faced a lot of personal difficulties this year. As challenging as it was, I proved to myself that I could "make it" anywhere, make meaningful relationships all over the world, take comfort in wanting comfort, & that I'll always leave my heart at home with my family. Amongst the many people this year who changed my life, I wanted to single out a few: Saada for being one of the best friends I've ever had in my life; Valerie for helping me survive Paris; Ulises for being a friend when I really needed one (& helping me survive UVSQ); Marion for being my valentine for life & my sister forever (& the Danés for being my French family); everyone @ ZOD Culture for giving me faith in humanity & becoming some of the dearest friends I've ever met; Lulu for hosting me in Amsterdam & being such a close friend so far away; Aneil & Siobhan for visiting me this summer & becoming closer to me; Anil Dad for his continuous love & visit to Paris; my mom Paula for her love & support that stretches across the globe; Jeff Dad for the love & advice I miss so much in my life; Brandon for helping me get a start in NYC (& for always being there); Raven for showing me around & giving me the confidence to feel at home in NYC; Trisha, one of the kindest people I've ever known, for giving me a chance & believing in me to become the writer I want to be, something I will always be grateful for; everyone @ India.com for making me feel welcome; Sarah and Emily for being feminist heroes; Manal for opening up her home & heart; Fatemah for becoming a friend for life & someone I can share anything with; my fellow IXO exchange students who have been good to me (too many to name but you all know who you are); Majdal for being my home away from home; and lastly (but not least) Kinnu for changing my world and showing me anything is possible. There's so many people I didn't name, & so many important interactions & friendships & experiences that have made 2015 [cont.]

If the West Coasts boasts the City of Dreams, This is the one of reality. Realness poured into concrete Of an unrelenting jungle Panthers linger in shadows, unseen Raining poor man's tears Collected in dirty guttered dreams You can make it happen here Look at the fresh faces Stepped off the boat Onto fertile soil Made it Making street food and cab rides But the money's milked by soft hands The money stays in Manhattan Creeps out to hip safe places Don't believe any different Royal blood in America? Fallacy Foolish to think people start being better In a classless society The city's soul Founded on suffering How else could a place be this real? Self-aware, I wanna say Except they forget this isn't the rest of the States Looking forward and backward simultaneously Nostalgia wrapped in progressive recycling Gentrification disrupted by protesting Organized chaos Humming seamlessly To the tune of unequal opportunity Lawlessness In the Wild Wild East It's got class, this city In weekend brunches In cramped Upper West Side parties But dignity, Dignity is saved for the streets Those making a hard-earned living illegally What's legal in a restless city? Nearly proof of capitalist virtue Except there's enough food to feed beggars Rich and poor alike Hungry for trust So much love for the fellow worker Everyone's accepting The place really is forward-thinking Look at the storm protection Where are we heading? "New York eats its young" Reads an entrepreneurial tshirt The ones you see are surviving A tough city where anything is possible From community to ruthless climbing The truth is that anyone can get knocked off the ladder From drugs, gambling, robbery No place to hide from vices From drinking to comfort to greed The truth breaks summers sidewalks Releases the heat Of American myths Heated American delusions Endless American dreams (at Show More Mr. Nice Guy)
A Thankless Job One day to be thankful Yet a million reasons to thank Countless childhood memories The constant challenge to think Nights spent talking Life advice spilling over boiling pots of rice and gravy Telling me it'd be okay After the softball games I didn't win The friends I couldn't make For so long, I felt my words were worthless Weightless Sharing my thoughts became like breathing It didn't really mean anything Yet you listened. You saw my pain and wanted to help me Pains in feeling self-conscious Wondering if people liked me If I'd find what I was looking for one day You let me know it was human And one day, it'd be different. You'd seen the world and knew that good souls find each other I know that too Now I understand how you became family Dad, you were the parent who was there. This isn't to talk down any parent; we all have our places in life But you were there when no one else could be When everyone else was too busy You helped me I may look different from you But that core of empathy In all that I do Was inherited from you A calm head to sort clouded thoughts Showing me the other perspective You made me a journalist A reflective writer You taught me how to meditate A golden heart to match gold hair Strong hands to guide shaky palms Made strong in being held through life Having your responsibility, your humility, your understanding Will one day make me an adult Life's not fair, Dad You were always right. But I still believe in fighting for fairness If only to hope for a world Where more people like you exist. ——— Happy Father's Day I love you, Aryanna
Wandering around NYC yesterday with the beautiful @raven_wanders and co. 💕 The places we inhabit are built into homes by the friends we spend time with. Here's to the beautiful people of New York who easily make this place feel like home 🗽 (at Making The Most Of Manhattan)
