Evaluation

For this assignment I had to create to 30-40 second adverts one promoting a service the other promoting a product. Initially we had to come up with 3 ideas for our product targeting a certain demographic. We also had to do the same with our service. We had to create a synopsis and storyboards for each of our chosen ideas. We had to then choose two ideas one a product and one a service targeted at a chosen demographic. We then had to complete all necessary paperwork for our chosen adverts. We also had to create a blog on Tumblr tracking our progress in all stages of pre-production, production and post-production.

I feel as if I performed well throughout all aspects of the assignment. I feel this was because I had a task sheet of what I needed to complete and what date I needed to have it completed by. I feel I worked best in pre-production this is because I enjoy it the most compared to the actual production and post-production. I completed all of my pre-production very quickly and to a good standard. I did perform well in my production I did all of the shots I needed to and I stuck to my shooting script with full effect. In post-production I feel I got more confident with the editing software. This is because I added to my production things that I haven’t added before. The main thing was the crawling text.

For this assignment I did not work with others but I did receive peer feedback for my work and this helped me to finalize and choose my ideas in full it helped me think what I needed to upload as my actual chosen ideas. This was good because I felt I had a better insight on what people wanted to see and why they wanted to see it.

My time planning and organizing was my biggest asset for this assignment. This is because I did everything in the allotted time I needed to. Another thing that went right was my uploading and blogging on Tumblr. This is because I regularly updated my blog with input of what I have completed and what I needed to complete. Another thing that I completed which went well was that I completed my pre-production paperwork with still a lot of time to complete my other pieces of paperwork. The filming of my two productions were a little hit and miss. The things that went right about them was that I got the shots I needed too very quickly as I followed my shooting script very well.

Compared to what went right in my production not a lot went wrong this is because I was well organized. One of the main things that went wrong was in the editing stage of my production. I did not know how to add the rolling text in the production this was then changed another thing that went wrong was that I exported a production without getting feedback this meant I had to re-edit my productions. Another thing that went wrong was that my camera I used would lose focus in some areas when filming with the slightest of movement. This is relatively noticeable in my chocolate advert as there is a fair amount of movement.

A problem I faced which was down to my own actions was that I exported my two productions without receiving feedback I then realised that I needed to tweak some parts of the productions to make them look more professional then they did at first. This was a problem I overcame in the end. Another problem I faced which was partly down to my own actions was the camera losing focus. This is partly my fault because I didn’t use a tri-pod and I could of used colleges equipment to improve and enhance my picture quality without the camera losing its focus.

However the camera problem was also a problem, which was out of my control because it wasn’t because of me that the camera started losing its focus. Other than that I didn’t really have any problems which were out of my own actions because I was to blame for my faults. They could have been avoided but they were all still my fault.

I feel as if I was very successful in my productions in the fact that I included everything I wanted to in my initial synopsis and proposals and my storyboards. I captured the intended ideas when I filmed my productions. This is the first time I can remember I have worked on my own for a production. I feel I was less stressed because I know I didn’t have to wait for anybody’s work and that if anything needed to be done I had to do it for myself I felt I had less hassle and less to worry about. I feel that my production may have lacked in some areas compared to certain productions I have been a part of. Having said that I do feel as if I have achieved what I have set out to do in the fact that I have created a pair of adverts, which have the correct codes and conventions to appeal to the intended target audience. The adverts will also promote the service and the product. I feel as if my production will be a success compared to existing productions I have created.

In relation to my existing work in the format because I had to do it all on my own and I feel I got to be a little more confident with my workings especially with my editing and production. it was a good way for me to learn how to do my work for the future.

If I could do the production again I would probably choose two different things to make my adverts about. I would also use a different camera to improve the picture quality of my productions in the future.

Hello to my tumblr followers I am very happy to say to you that I am well up to date with my time planning sheet. I should be handing in very shortly editing has been completed although I had a couple of hiccups along the way. All shall be completed for the final deadline hand in day I will make my lecturers happy.
