This petition is for those avid Carrie fans who hope to see an Extended Director’s Cut of Carrie released on DVD and Blu-ray. It has come to the attention of fans that there were many scenes filmed, but later dropped from the theatrical cut - many of which were also, unfortunately, not included in the Deleted/Alternate scenes on the Blu-ray release. Back in December 2012, there were a number of people who attended the first test screenings of the film and confirmed that the original cut was longer and a lot different from what we saw in theaters.

When I did film studies back in the day, the original "Carrie" was a movie we watched, dissected, analysed the book and debated for over a week - and in doing so I fell in love with it.

My only gripe with the original was how one dimensional the villain Chris was displayed. She was shown as the generic 'mean girl', a constant cliche without any reason or real agenda. In the book she's shown as a complete human, she makes the wrong choices on her spit of the moment decisions and will always be the one to destroy herself.

Which brings me to the remake, which judging from a character and story level swaps the horror movie for more of a drama/thriller tone and explores the ensemble. Chris is still the classic 'mean girl' but now comes with the layers to show why. She's in pain, she's silently suffering, neglected by her family, abandoned by her friends and the ultimate mile stone of her school life denied from her - PROM. She's unraveling and who's the easiest target to blame - Carrie. Her pursuit for revenge is always doomed but it isn't Carrie who destroys her - it's herself. She makes the final move in the car by throwing the car forward into the petrol station to final destroy the last quality she had left - her beauty. The ultimate tortured soul.

Which finally brings me to this whole post, the above shot is of Chris breaking into the school on the Eve of prom to set the trap for Carrie and seeing the whole gym decorated for the prom - she sees everything that she's lost, everything that she's been denied to her, all because of Carrie White.

All perfectly shown by Portia Doubleday who turns a remake into a stand alone classic within itself.
