Royal William Yard, Plymouth. The Royal Victualling Yard was designed by the Victorian engineer John Rennie and constructed between 1826 and 1835. It was designed for use by the Admiralty as a victualling depot for the Royal Navy. (at Royal William Yard)

The Northern Lights shimmer above the remote Slaven’s Roadhouse at Yukon-Charley Rivers National Preserve in Alaska. This historic roadhouse along the Yukon River once housed prospectors during the Klondike Gold Rush. Today, park visitors can spend the night in this restored cabin.
