when you left this town with your WINDOWS down and the wilderness inside, let the exits pass all the tar and glass til the road and sky align. the strangers in this town, they RAISE you up just to cut you down || hazel robin loxley || 21 || forensic science
zendaya coleman, cisfemale, she/her. — you know hazel loxley, don’t you? she’s the twenty one year old sophomore who’s studying forensic science and living in hollis hall. they used to be a seemingly complete stranger from addie, but now they are fascinated by her (non?)death and are trying to find out what’s happening exactly.
what is up you guys i’m iris, i'm currently 21 for a whole ass week exactly. tally dragged me in here so here i am. i bring you hazel loxley. for the true nerds among you, yes i stole that last name off of robin hood. because it sounds nice. also taron egerton is a snack. and of course her second name is robin. i had to. anyways i didn’t mean to make her a robin hood type character but then it kinda happened anyways because i’m a mess. but it’s very subtle.
anyhow here’s her pinterest, and below is some more backstory. like this if you’re down for some plotting and i will slide into your dm’s asap
biography
- hazel grew up as the youngest of the loxley family. they already had four boys, arthur, thomas, john and michael. mike was close to her in age, so they were always very close, but she’s pretty close with all of her family.
- her brothers are also pretty protective, kind of stereotypical. Hazel had a growth spurt but before that she was scrawny and she’s always been a quiet kid so you can’t really blame them.
- her childhood wasn’t really special. she grew up in a small town an hour outside raleigh by car. she had a small group of friends, she had her family, she had everything she could wish for, really.
- however when college came around, she started to look for something that was close enough to home so she’d be able to visit if she wanted to, but far away enough that she could start her own life, outside of a town so small it started to suffocate her. everyone knew everything about you, it seemed. hazel hates that feeling. besides can you blame her with four overprotective brothers? nope
- she chose audeo, and her major became forensic science, to no ones surprise. she’d always been a curious kid. some would say nosy, even. she liked science, she liked to know why things were the way the were. she also loved mysteries. as she got older she got really into true crime. forensic science is basically everything hazel likes most combined.
- the past two years have, again, been pretty uneventful. she goes to a party here or there, she has some friends. she’s never been one to necessarily want any more than that. she already feels blessed by just having a good average life.
- of course that all changed when addie died. hazel was at the party were it happened, and ever since she’s been fascinated - or rather obessed - with the whole thing. especially since the dares started, she’s set her mind on solving the mystery. she always thought addie didn't really notice her, but of course she had noticed addie. turns out addie knew more about hazel than she'd ever thought or wanted.
- hazel has always loved solving other people’s mysteries, but now she’s caught up with one, and she honestly? isn’t mad about it. maybe she likes a more eventful life after all. if only her deepest secrets weren't on te line. rip.
personality
- personality wise, she’s quiet, but observant. she’ll know you by name, she’ll know what colour your socks wore last wednesday. all while you will barely know who she is.
- she genuinely doesn’t want to be creepy. she just doesn’t like being the centre of attention, but like i said she’s very curious. also she just really likes a good funky pair of socks so that’s why she’d focus on that ig.
- she’s a bit of a tomboy, but she has a more feminine side. it’s honestly just what she feels like each day.
- she’s actually pretty bubbly and funny and a bit dramatic when you get to know her. despite her quiet nature, she isn’t shy or reserved in any way, so it’s actually pretty easy to become friends with her.
connections
- literally anything. come at me. brain storm. throw your own wanted connections at me. let me love your characters.
“Come on! Keep up” Zaire yelled behind her at her companion, horse galloping forward, jumping over every obstacle, and quite unlike her normal self that most would know from social events. She wouldn’t bother arguing that she was most comfortable on horseback, the wind blowing through her hair and just about everything else and giving her a confidence she didn’t otherwise have, “I know Shepard can handle it, just ask him!”
After a while though she slowed, turning her horse as she did to face her companion, waiting for them to catch up, along with giving her horse something of a rest.
aurelio wasn’t much of a equestrian, never had been. he much preferred to keep both his legs steady on the ground, instead of having to trust an animal he couldn’t fully communicate with. however, he felt like he hadn’t spend nearly enough time with zaire recently, so if she wanted to go horseriding, they would.
of course she sped away, riding way ahead of him while he was just trying to stay... alive. when he finally caught up with her, he was out of breath. yet she seemed to be just fine, amazing even. “i don’t know how you do it.” he said, petting his own horse halfheartedly. the animal was probably doing its best, it was aurelio who didn’t belong. “should we be heading back? or do you have a specific destination in mind?”
Nights were probably the hardest time for Gianna, with her husband gone. She did not like waking up in the middle of the night and finding side of his bed empty. Of course, they communicated through letters, secured and carried by someone trusted but it wasn’t the same. She missed him, missed their family being whole, happy, together. Gianna understood her husband’s motivations, but money didn’t keep her warm at night. So, taking her new pet out of its cage, the pair made their way down towards the kitchens where she prepared tea for her self. All the while feeding pieces of bread to her little friends.
When she heard the voice of her son Aurelio, she just shook her head at him but couldn’t stop the corners of her mouth turn upwards. “ Really Aurelio, language. Why you insist on skulking around the halls in the middle of the night with no light is beyond me.” she chastised as she waved the young man in. Watching him enter into the room, Gianna took another sip from her cup, her new songbird now sitting on one of the fruit bowls. “ I’m sure there are some smoked meats and bread left in the pantry- this is of course under the assumption that my son didn’t quite have his fill at dinner this evening.” Gianna teased him knowing full well what his plan was. There was little that the Salviati women didn’t know about the goings on in her household.
he felt like he was 10 years old again, caught by his mother at misbehaving. he spied a small smile ghosting over her face though and it put him a little more at easy. “a light would be too much of a hassle. i’d much prefer to stay undetected, and my eye work just fine in the dark.” it was also that he had gotten used to moving through darkness, but of course he didn’t admit that out loud.
he approached as soon as she waved, and made his way over to the pantry. “i did, but i just seem to have an exceptional appetite.” he joked, glancing over at what seemed to be his mother’s new pet. “does it have a name?” he questioned, changing the subject rather quickly.
EVEN with his apology, irritation was still flaring high in violeta. granted, she had a temper even in the best of circumstances but this was her favourite dress now ruined. it would take more than an offhanded apology for via’s mood to settle. “it is a shame.” the sulky answer was the most diplomatic thing she could think of. “i had wished to spend the rest of the day at the market, but i’ll have to return home now to mend it.” she told him, the pout on her lips only serving to make her appear even more childish.
it was clear his apology had not mended much, but her rather diplomatic approach made him think she also realised there wasn’t much he’d be able to do at this moment. it wasn’t like he was a skilled seamstress and could sew her dress back together on the spot. and yet, just as he was about to make his exit, she started speaking again. he cocked his head in surprise and confusion. what did she expect from him? however, just as she had done, he kept it diplomatic and flashed another apologetic smile. “all i can offer right now, signora, is to escort you home. but it will have to be by foot, since i didn’t come here by carriage.”
“I believe you are correct Signore, I have also met quite a few that find their muse…between the sheets,” she let out a slight laugh having not met this man before. Her wealth was something that was not in question nor was it an understatement. The Madam had done quite well for herself and her girls, “I quite like it, though, you wouldn’t happen to know how to preserve such a piece, would you?” Her dark gaze met his kind eyes, “For I’d hate to shove it between parchment of a dusty old book to forget about years later…when it is worth something, as you’ve pointed out,” Lunette smiled.
elio mirrored her laugh with a brief one of his own. “i’m afraid i don’t have the skills to preserve this piece, sorry to disappoint.” he replied, though there wasn’t much sincerity when is his apology. “but i’m sure i could bring you in contact with someone who would be able to do the job. like you said, i’d be a shame for it be lost and forgotten between documents.” he offered nonetheless. of course there would be someone between all his family’s connections who would be able to do such a thing. “i don’t think we’ve met yet.” he often forgot introduction because a lot of the time they weren’t needed, but i’d be rude to leave the woman in the dark. “aurelio salviati.”
“Nonsense — I was not expecting poems or love letters from my brother! Merely lists of what was happening. House finances. What nonsense hobby our father was funding. Which of the maids were sleeping with the guards. News of any new wards. Which one you were thinking of deflowering. You know… reports. Important reports,” she replied, lips widening to reveal an innocent smile that failed to reach to her eyes.
“Oh, I would rather not,” Joanna said flatly, busying herself with the hem of her sleeve, “there are memories there I would much rather stayed there. I am a widow without child, Aurelio. I am too young for such a title and yet too old to be an attractive prospective anymore.” She fell silent, lips pursing with her annoyance. Annoyance more than sadness. Even so, a slight smirk tugged at her mouth. “What a loss for the men of Florence, hm?”
“well what’s so interesting about lists. i’d get so bored writing them i would fall asleep.” elio countered, only semi offended that all his older sister wanted from him was a businesslike correspondence, while his sister had only made it halfway through her sentence. his interest was eventually piqued when she was done talking and he returned her quasi innocent smile. “as long as they don’t become my rivals for someone’s affections, why should i care about the love affairs of a guard. and there has been no interesting news on any of the wards..” he turned away with a bored look, peering out of the carriage to avoid joanna’s gaze. however, his head snapped back as soon as she stated talking again. “what loss, sister? i’m sure you’ll find your match eventually. or else you’d make a good spinster.” he was merely teasing, of course, a mischievous smirk painted on his features.
once again, aurelio was creeping through his family’s home at night. this time not to sneak out of the house though, instead he was trying to get to the kitchens for a midnight snack. he often found himself restless during the night, the result of a messed up sleeping schedule. or maybe just a restless soul.
either way, he didn’t want to wake the rest of the house up, no need for some kind of intervention about his nightly habits. not that he expected anyone to be up at this hour, so when he looked past another corner and spotted a figure, he audibly gasped, followed by a harsh curse, followed by an apology when he noticed who the other person was.
hi lovelies i feel like a broken record bc i’ve said this in practically every chat i have atm BUT i’m travelling for uni atm so my activity is kinda down, and i also haven’t had the chance to plot with everyone yet. which is a shame!!! if you wanna plot give this a like and i’ll be diving into your dms real soon.
“I just saw the a very sweet and quite comical scene some minutes ago, while I was touring around the city. There was this small child who looked to be about 3 or 4 years of age, who had just stumbled over and was just about to bawl his heart out, as most young ones do when they fall over..And then out of nowhere, his older sister if I’m not mistaken, who looked to be about a girl of 7 or 8, immediately rushed over to pick him up. After gently holding his chubby little face in her hands a moment later, she then immediately begin giving him a long list of reasons why he shouldn’t cry, with such earnesty and seriousness in her facial expressions, that the baby that was about to cry, then instead changed his look to one of perplexed curiosity as he listened to his sister’s energetic chatter….And earlier this morning, as I tickled a babe’s nose a few times, she emitted out the most glorious sound of laughter I’ve ever heard in months!”he gabbed on, his face shining ever so brightly as he regaled the other with his tale.” My heart just went …ughh,.. I don’t know how to describe it,” he gushed, his facial expression melting into one of adoring rapture, while at the same time, putting a hand over his heart as he replayed the memory vividly, at the front of his mind. “Children really are the most precious and the most charming gifts ever to bless mankind, are they not?” he sighed happily.
whenever there seemed to be some kind of tension around the house, elio liked to escape to the gardens. of course there were enough deserted corridors and empty rooms to find refuge in, but the air inside the building always seemed to be stuffed, no matter how far removed from the heart of the conflict. the gardens were open, free, with fresh air.
aurelio strolled down one of the narrow paths, stopping to greet their gardener for a brief moment. However, as the man broke out into a story that brief moment became less brief, and more just elio standing awkwardly around while he listened to thomas speak. though it was told lively, elio was not necessarily very interested. still barely an adult himself and with mostly older siblings, children seemed foreign to him. “i guess they have their charm, yes.” he replied, with some hesitation. he decided, for lack of a better way to fill his time, indulge thomas anyways. “i wouldn’t know much about them, so i’ll take your word for it. don’t you have any children of your own?”
SLENDER fingers ran across the hem of her dress, that was rapidly beginning to fray. looking at the tearing fabric, violeta muttered a string of curses under her breath. she would have to traipse about the city in a dirty dress all day, unless she could find a solution. concerns about seeking out a tailor, or perhaps cancelling all her plans for the day were occupying violeta’s mind, instead of watching her step and as she collided with another person, she heard the fabric tear even further. she bit down on her lip, to keep from letting out another string of swear words, simply glaring in their direction fury written plainly on her delicate features as she waited for an apology from them.
aurelio had grown from a hyper child into a hasty adult, always on the move and rarely aware of where he was moving. and so once again, a collision was inevitable. only at the last second he turned his head and noticed the girl, though she hadn’t been watching where she was going either, or so it seemed to elio.
as their bodies collided he heard the sound of tearing fabric, and for a moment he was afraid it was his own cloak. then he noticed the tear in the woman’s skirts, and as his eyes travelled farther up, he was met with angry gaze. “apologies, my lady.” he started, biting back reluctance. in his eyes they were both at fault, but it wasn’t his clothes that were torn. besides, he really was not in the mood for conflict. instead, he decided to throw his charm into the conversation. “i was in such a hurry i did not watch where i was going. such a shame to tear such a lovely dress.”
“I must say there is quite a likeness here,” Lunette’s bright gaze shifted from the sketch on the parchment to the person beside her. “I do believe one of these street artists does actually harbor a strong bit of talent, don’t you?”
aurelio had merely been passing by in the busy florentine street, but when he overheard the nearby conversation he couldn’t fight the urge to cast a glance over the woman’s shoulder, onto the parchment she was holding. she was right, it was a beautiful drawing. “who knows, many great artists started as mere commoners, didn’t they?” he butted it, showing a mischievous lopsided smirk. “i would hold on to that, it might be worth a fortune in a year or two.”
