@iworryalotdarling asked :when youâve reached the top, thereâs only one direction you can go. â penelope
Irulan drank her cocktail and eyed the people around her at this fancy party. When the woman at her table addressed her, she shrugged her shoulders. âAnd which way are you going?â she asked. Â
@cagedchoices asked:Â â whoever you were before doesnât matter here. â
Irulan wasnât somebody who normally went to bars. It wasnât that she didnât like the occasional glass of wine or shot of vodka, but she didnât care for the way that people stared her or tried to give her empty compliments.
She had come to this place because she was too tired from her day at work and she couldnât be bothered to call a cab. Â
As she drank her Scotch, she heard someone speaking to her and turned to him. âThatâs the point of a bar, isnât it?â she asked. âTo forget who you are for a couple of hours?â
WESTWORLD: SEASON ONE SENTENCE STARTERS.
â i forget you dress like a cowboy, but thatâs about the extent of it. â
â thereâs a path for everyone. your path leads you back to me. â
â i know things will work out the way theyâre meant to. â
â i realized winning doesnât mean anything unless someone else loses⊠which means youâre here to be the loser. â
â youâre smart enough to guess thereâs a bigger picture, but not smart enough to see what it is. â
â sometimes i envy your forgetfulness. â
â you said someday. not today, or tomorrow, or next week. just somedayâŠÂ âsomedayâ sounds a lot like the thing people say when they actually mean ânever.â â
â everyone i cared about is gone⊠and it hurts⊠so badly. â
â the pain, their loss⊠itâs all i have left of them. â
â sweetheart, if i took that manner of interest in you, youâd have no say in how long weâd need, whatsoever. â
â whoever you were before doesnât matter here. â
â thereâs no rules or restrictions. you can change the story of your life. you can become someone else. no one will judge you, no one in the real world will even know. the only thing holding you back is yourself. â
â i picked you precisely because you will never be a threat to anyone. â
â nobody makes me do something i donât want to, sweetheart. â
â i was built to read people just by looking at them, to know what they want before they do. â
â you think iâm scared of death ? iâve done it a million times. iâm fucking great at it. how many times have you died ? because if you donât help me⊠iâll kill you. â
â the only people who survive are men of conviction. â
â if you go looking for the truth, get the whole thing. itâs like a good fuck âââ half is worse than none at all. â
â when youâve reached the top, thereâs only one direction you can go. â
â someone once told me that thereâs a path for everyone. and my path leads me back to you. â
â if only i had run away with you when you first asked me to⊠â

"Oooh! That's very very cool." He said with excitement as he gave her two thumbs up. "I am too! But unlike him, I haven't had the chance to taste my delicious pavlova in years." Or more like in centuries. Seven centuries to be exact. "Bought one once from this little store some time ago, and it tasted horrible. It kind of made me sick to my stomach, and then I threw up all over the place. It got messy."
"I'm very sorry to hear that," Irulan said with a slight smile. "I don't really think that most of the places around here would know how to make a pavlova." There was something about the way that Americans liked their food bland which made Irulan's stomach turn. "In England, the Persian cuisine is a lot better than it is here. Have you ever been?"
"Uh, I don't really have an address," she said sheepishly, looking around at the tiny convenience store she found herself at, "I'm somewhere. I mean, I wanna say on 12th and first? My phone died and I'm kind of lost."
âSay no more. Iâll be right there.â
Irulan got out of bed, dressed herself in jeans and a t-shirt, and then took the elevator down to the apartment lobby. The doorman gave her a strange look since she didnât normally leave the house at three oâclock in the morning, but she just shrugged her shoulders. What can you do?
The cab ride through the darkened city was uneventful. Everyone was asleep and those that werenât were either coming home from work, drunk, or going trying to go to sleep in the middle of the sidewalk.
After a few minutes, the cab stopped at the corner Sophie had mentioned. Irulan opened the passengerâs side door for her. âGet in,â she said.
Whenever she walked into a room, Irulan could immediately feel eyes resting on her. She could have worn jeans and a T-shirt and they would stare at her. Sometimes, she heard compliments as well as catcalls or whistles, but she pushed them all away. She couldnât control other peopleâs reactions, but she could control her own, so she just smiled, nodded, and acted as if none of it really bothered her.
This black tie event tonight at a nice address in New York was no different than any other. She had been invited because her fatherâs jewelry was gracing numerous necks and ears tonight including the emerald necklace she wore. It was cold, formal, and stiff. Everyone was sitting at tables and talking about nothing in particular.
So, Irulan went to the bar and walked up to @abusedog. âWhat are you having?â she asked.

open to: anybody !!
based on: Â everyone keeps setting muse a up on blind dates, which doesnât sit too well with muse b, her long time (secret) girlfriend
made with legacy editor !! reply with whatever you want !!
âcâmon, you know itâs just one date.â valeria said as she finished up putting her makeup on. even though she had given that excuse before none of the blind dates that her brother or friends had set her up on ever turned into anything. it was more to appease them rather than explain her love life at the moment. âitâll just be dinner, and then iâll be right back home to tell you how horrible it was. my brother set this one up so you know itâs bound to be pretty bad.â she said with a small chuckle in hopes to lighten the air a bit. âiâll be an hour, tops maybe even less than that if this is one of frankieâs bar friends. then we can go do something later if you want.âÂ
Irulan had heard it all before from Valeria and she couldnât help, but roll her eyes. âThatâs what you said the last two hundred times,â she said quietly almost as if she were talking to herself. She hadnât meant to be bitter or cruel, but what else could she say when she felt that her roommate was looking for love in all of the wrong places?
âIf she turns out to be the beeâs knees, then that will be nice,â she said getting up from the desk where she had been sitting. âHowever, Valeria, I donât think that you will find the solution out there no matter how many blind dates you go on.âÂ

open to: m / f / nb. any pre-est connection welcome.
muse: marcus (31-34), retired jazz musician turned music teacher. a chill, go with the flow type of person.
based on:â weâre on a nightly walk, youâre showing me the school you went to and where you used to work. we buy a bottle of cheap liquor and sit on the pavement, surrounded by cars and street lights; we get drunk and philosophize about life.â
in the middle of their walk, marcus stopped for the sake of admiring crude graffiti on the brick wall of an abandoned building. âmy uh⊠first girlfriend actually wrote this- and.. yeah. she was pretty cool,â a nostalgic sigh follows the last syllable of his sentence, yet his expression remains calm and unfazed. then he laughed for a moment, wondering why he even brought it up - but he felt comfortable enough in their presence to be vulnerable with his past and emotions. âand I just loved- I love seeing that when I walk past it on my way home, and itâs always there.â
âThatâs one of the wonderful things about art,â Irulan said as she glanced at the wall in the darkness, her cold gloved hands shoved into the pockets of her down jacket. She wasnât a particular connoisseur of graffiti, but she could tell that the person who had drawn this had some raw talent. âItâs always there for us no matter where we are. Music fades away, visual art is painted over, and movies only last an hour, but the impression they makeâŠâ She paused and smiled at him. âThatâs what really matters.â
