"You do realize you cannot exactly...lie to me, right?" It wasn't something she was happy she could do -- reading the surface thoughts of others invaded their privacy. Everyone should feel safe inside their mind, and she could ruin that. Still, she was always very careful about it.
Azrael moved to sit beside the hunter and sighed before taking her hand. "It is more than that, but I will not force you to speak about it if you do not want to. But if you do decide to...I am here and I will listen...for as long as you need me to."
"I know, I know, but couldn't we pretend that I can?" okay, maybe that wasn't the healthiest way to deal with her problems, but she wasn't really sure if she was in a sharing mood. Sophie usually didn't have a problem talking about it, especially to Azrael, but she was feeling a kind of way today.
"The last job I took...it didn't end well," she admitted, easily letting her friend grab her hand, "What if I'm not cut out to be a hunter and my whole life has been a lie?"
"....I can just appear to you like I did today? As for the...what did you call them? Emote genies? Or whatever, and the baby animals, I'm afraid I cannot help you with that." She stabs a French fry with her fork. "I will think about it. May I'd be able to contact other people easier too."
"But it wasn't a joke, and I am sorry, Sophie, truly. I know it is not fair. None of it is fair. Trust me, I...know." There was no rhyme or reason to when she showed up, no fairness. It felt so random to even her. She did not understand why some got to live long lives and others did not. She was just...following orders, wasn't she? As much as she hated herself for doing so. But she couldn't let Michael take over her job, or the others. They were cruel, and disinterested, and dangerous. No. It had to be her.
She shook her head quickly, "I do not understand. What is business casual? Is that like...just not wearing my armor? I would love to not wear my armor. It gets sort of heavy." Her expression became more confused, "I.D.? What is that? Why would I want one that is not real?"
"I know you can, and you know that I love that you can, but phones are fun. Like, don't you wanna look at cute animal pictures? If you had a phone, I could send them to you all the time. Non-stop cuteness." besides, Sophie was a texter, and sometimes it was easier to have conversations that way.
Okay, maybe she shouldn't have made the joke. "I know you are, and it's okay. My dark humor is me dealing with it. Besides, I have people who helped me through it. You , Cas, Aurora. I'm okay."
Oh, they were going to have to go to her ID guy. Sure, she could try to make the badge herself, but her skills weren't as good as she needed them to be, "Yeah. I mean, you know how all the other angels kind of wear suits and stuff? That's what we'll have to do. I think we're gonna have to pretend we're FBI for this one," there's a pause, "How much do you know about shapeshifters?"
Well… shit. That didn’t sound good.
“This right here? This is how people get eaten. Or cursed. Or both.” She gave a deep sigh, as if this were just a regular inconvenience rather than an extremely worrying declaration. “Okay. Details. What did ya read, and what did ya let loose?”
"Maybe the book should have had a warning or something. 'Don't read me if you don't wanna unleash evil' or something," at least she caught it fast, right? "This," she said, pulling the old book from her bag. If she had to guess it was from the early 1900's, but she wasn't a historian so who knew, "I think some kind of big bad demon."
"You're welcome then. Kinda funny though since Bullet never has a problem doing that." Ray snorted, grabbed a glass to get the drink ready. "What's your poison?"
"I mean, don't get me wrong. I sometimes earn my living getting skeezy guys to give me money, but it's my day off so I kinda wanna avoid it," she laughed, "oh, cranberry vodka?"

It's funny, how many times she's saved a life and didn't receive a thank you. Sophie never pointed out it out to people, but it stung every time she put her life in danger, when she lost a bit of herself when she ended up having to kill something, and all she got was a look of disbelief. It caught her off guard when Gavin thanked her, and she almost gave him the same look she received so many times.
"Hey, it's no problem," oh, and now she was playing it off like it was no big deal. She gave him a once over, trying to make sure he didn't get caught in the crosshairs. "You okay? That was kind of intense."
“And how boring is that? But I’ve learned, Soph. There’s so much more to life than just my stupid dancing and my shitty waitressing job. I’m still young, I look great. I should be living, enjoying it while I can. So come on. Grab a drink with me. The night’s young, and so are we.”
"Okay, something is seriously wrong. You've never said dancing was stupid, like, ever. You know I'm always up for fun, and we can totally get drinks and go out, but after you tell me what's going on."
