“yeah well it’s worth the try, just to make sure she’s okay. she’s always too busy looking out for everyone else, she forgets that she needs us to look out for her too.” he sighed softly. alec didn’t have a lot of people that he really and truly cared about, and those that he did he could count on one hand. but as soon as he cared about someone, that was it. alec would die for them, he’d do anything no matter the cost. even if they were fighting he’d still sacrifice himself to save them. especially his siblings, in which jace was most definitely included. “hey thanks a lot, i’ll remember that next time i need a back up man. but yeah, i’ll try not to screw up too much if you don’t either. you know i’m gonna be number one in backing you up to clary” he laughed slightly and was unsure whether it was more to do with the undying loyalty to jace or how much fun it was to bug clary. “it’s going to go over a lot better in the sense of we’re actually going to most definitely be getting married. and i’m sure instead of my father being proud on my wedding day, he’s going to be shaking his head and wondering what he did wrong.” he scrunched up his nose. “she’s not my person preference but if you like her then sure.” he patted jace on the shoulder. “i’ll give you tbe best piece of advice i’ve got, if it seems like you’re fighting a losing fight just give them a soft smile and say ‘yes dear’ it’s a guarantee of getting laid.” he laughed. “i’m shocked, and i definitely lost the ‘when is jace going to settle down?’ pole. i put late thirties at the least.”
“don’t worry, i will. promise. i don’t exactly want to see her over doing it alone either. she deserves to have people worrying over her for once. that’s if she’ll let us.” he told him, knowing that sometimes izzy took an approach that made it look like she didn’t want help at all. “thanks. appreciated.” jace lightly laughed at his words, knowing that alec meant it when it came to backing him up to clary. he knew it was just what they did for each other but he was also well aware of how alec felt when it came to clary. “hey, come on. who cares what he thinks? he should be happy and proud of you. if he’s going to be wondering what he did wrong then that’s on him and i’ll probably have a few choice words to throw at him myself. it doesn’t take a genius to work out that you and magnus generally care for one another. knowing his son is happy should be enough for him.” jace said, shaking his head, not particularly liking where alec’s father stood when it came to alec being with magnus. “you’re still going to try and invite him to the wedding though?” he asked curiously, wondering what alec’s whole stance on the whole thing actually was. “yeah, whatever. just try and tolerate each other for me. please.” jace said with a laugh as he jokingly rolled his eyes at alec. “the fact that you are giving me advice on how to get laid is completely messing with my head. i didn’t think i’d ever be in a position where i not only asked you relationship advice but you also told me how to get laid while in one.” he laughed. things really were different to how they used to be. “aw. you thought i’d settle down in my thirties? cute. you have more faith in me than i do. wait. is there an actual pole?”
