Pulling out a glass from the cabinet, she poured a glass and inched it across the marble island. She didn’t know what was about to happen and she wasn’t the only one who could be under the influence. “Well, does it even matter now?” She responded regarding the mysterious wedding gift. She couldn’t even remember due to the amount of gifts they got, which amounted to nothing anymore. As he spoke, her heart beat quicker and quicker. It felt like her chest was going to cave in. It was all she ever wanted to hear from him but she didn’t believe it. Her trust issues got in the way.

“You knew... you knew I needed you...” she said, realizing the depth of his understanding. She grew quiet, shaking her head. “Do you know how bad I missed you? Everything in my life went downhill when we lost touch. I made awful choices and I can’t take them back,” she explained, sadly. “I loved you so much. And you disappointed me so much. You broke my heart,” she admitted to the broad figure. “Why? Why are you here now?”

“I know, I know—I shouldn’t be working.” Helena says, eyes shifting between the flowers splayed on a stand in front of her. “But I have this client who’s big on plants and flowers and this stand is too beautiful for me to just pass by it without checking it out.” The blonde finally glances up at her companion, a polite smile appearing on her lips. “I’ve narrowed it down to two but I can’t decide which one should go in the living room, so…” She locates the flowers and picks them up, “Moth orchid or Anthurium?” Helena asks, holding the tiny vases up. “C’mon, help a girl out. Chloe shook her head, following the blonde as they went to go choose whatever kind of interior design thing she was talking about. She didn’t really know what was happening but Chloe enjoyed the blondes line of work. Looking at the options, she pointed towards the Anthurium. “Those are so pretty,” she said, marveling at the stand. “Now I want some, pick me some! I don’t have any flowers in my new apartment right now,” she said.

Naomi was too busy with work, she always was and that made her quite happy. That menat her business was growing, wedding season was coming up and the brunette knew things would get busier. However, with the festival happening in town the thirty-one year old needed some time to relax and Naomi was excited to spend the beautiful day looking around and supporting her local businesses. Stopping by the stationary venu, she did not need another journal but that was how she got everything done at the office. Chloe was doing well with her uphill battle of getting her life together. She had been the most organized she had been in years and decided to treat herself to a new planner. Roaming around the local stationary shop, she looked over at the brunette. “I like the purple one,” she said. “Purple is such a good color. Strawberries may become a bit tiring,” she suggested. “How about this one?” She asked back, holding up the sage green planner with gold specks. “Cute, right?”

julian hadn’t expected to arrive at the event, he’d rather of been miles from the floral arrays that overtook the small park. however work brought him here, his eyes keen on a certain suspect lurking near the small stage as he gathered evidence to pursue. though as he blended in the crowd, a beer in hand, he found a bit of odd peace within the growing crowd. leaning against a bit of willow, hand gripped to the plastic cup he found his mind wandering enough to feel his body collide against an unfamiliar figure. he cussed under a breath, wiping a bit of beer from his petticoat as he assessed the damage. “fuck, my bad.” he hissed as his eyes fell upon the victim of his disarray. “what’s the damage?” he mused with a rise of his brow.

She mindlessly found herself roaming around the event. She wanted to stop thinking so hard and the sound of music and crowd made her think about other things at least. Chloe grew curious about a local fruit stand, ending up buying a real coconut with coconut juice practically spilling out. As she wandered with her coconut, she came to an abrupt stop as her body hit the other. “Oh, shit,” she said, dropping the coconut. “I just dropped my coconut,” she responded, pointing and erupting in laughter. “I’m not even drunk,” she said. “I’m sorry, did I get anything on you?”

as matteo quickly ducked into the truck he gathered up the two plates he’d set aside and balanced them on one arm before snagging two glasses of tequila. he reemerged with a smile on his lips before nodding for chloe to follow. he set the plates and drinks down on one of the small fold out tables just a few feet away, ushering for her to sit as he’d pulled back her chair. “now, honest opinions only.. got it?” he spoke with a chuckle as he grabbed one of the tacos between his fingers.

Chloe grinned watching him, he knew what he was doing. He had his plan set and she liked that. Sitting down next to him, she nodded and grabbed a taco, biting it and her eyes instantly rolling back. “You already knew this was delicious, Matteo!” she said, taking another bite. “It’s so good! The way to the heart is good food,” she said, giggling.

This is when the only child syndrome came out of Chloe, when people tried to tell her what to do. Her entire life she would do things her way even if they didn’t work out. Her eyes squinted, beginning to scan his body as she felt insulted. “Oh wow,” she said, bringing her hand to her chest. “You don’t know anything about what’s happening with me. And you barely know me.. And since when did it become your business?” She questioned the brunette. “Who said I wanted anything? You’re bold to assume. Next time come correct, Alec.”

maybe his reason for being here wasn’t simply because he wanted to apologize . he wanted to be okay with her , he wanted to let her know that he was sorry and the dessert was just the tip of the iceberg . nodding his head , he walks inside ❝ it’s not ma’s but it’s from that little bodega on 8th street . ❞ he says with a small smile , oceanic hues gaze at her home . it was very her , from the colors , to the decoration , to her furniture . ❝ I’m a lawyer and I have a few friends in the NYPD. ❞ he mused to her but his smile soon faded ❝ I want to talk and I want you to listen and I know I have no right to come here and tell you this but I just need you to listen to me , just hear me out . ❞ he’s pleading her with the only way he knows how to.

It felt like a twisted dream to her. As if any second, Brooklyn would poof out of the sky. She had spent the past ten years wanting to talk to him but she stood there, speechless. She couldn’t believe he was the one wanting to be heard after a decade of silence. She nodded her head, guiding him to the white marble island, pouring more into her glass. “Oh, you want me to hear you out? Sure, go ahead, Brooks,” she chimed back. “This is going to be good!”

“thought you were a total no show.” matteo chuckled as he pushed his hands into the pockets of his jeans, shoulder pushed back as he adjusted his posture. her comment hadn’t been far fetched, he practically lived at the bar six days out of seven and it’d been sort of a habitual routine, one that he rarely strayed from. “mm.. i’d say so.” he winked as he rolled onto the balls of his feet before nodding back to the truck. “saved you somethin’, c’mon.” he hummed with a grin as he offered for her to join him.

She shook her head, brushing up to him as he guided her. “Seriously? How could I miss your food truck? I can’t believe you have a surprise for me,” she said and looked up at him. She observed his employees, shooting them a warm smile. “You’re a sweetheart,” she said over the noises of the festival.

caught up in the midst of the booming crowd that came to the festival, matteo hadn’t been able to catch his breath for much of the evening. wren had been a great help, setting up the small tables around the food truck, sorting out the array of drinks and adjusting the menu out front. he’d spent a vast majority of the morning set before the burners, getting as much food cooked up before he found himself trudging out of the truck, wiping his hand over his forehead with a corona in hand as he pulled the drink to his lips. his eyes landed on chloe who begun to walk over, a smile warm on his lips as his arms extended out to the side. “look who decided to show up…” he chided in a playful tone.

Redeeming her day after her wine binge the night before, she slipped into a comfortable outfit to roam around the park in. She needed the fresh air and good eats. She had slowly started a routine. She was studying, getting back into her fitness, and a little too dependent on a couple of glasses of wine before bed. She felt safest inside her new penthouse; away from the chaos that happened to her. She sat on the couch, her favorite Whispering Angel rosé in her hand as she clicked through the Netflix options until she gasped from the sudden knock. She was still sensitive to certain things. She got up off the couch quietly, bringing her wine glass as a weapon and looked through the peep hole. What the hell? She ripped open the door, warm from her drink and looked at his goofy smile. “Brooklyn,” she said, shaking her head and looked at the grey skies outside. “Is that tiramisu?” She said, looking at the familiar bag from their childhood. “Ok... fine, come in. But– how did you find my address?” She asked, stepping aside for him to enter.

Cooper was an idiot, there was no dobut about that. He was an idiot and time was never his thing. He tried so hard not to ask her the one question that didn’t matter in this moment, but it mattered to him and Cooper finally was hopefully going to get closure. That’s all he ever wanted from her, was closure. She broke his heart, his first real heart brake was a bitch and Cooper hated to admit that but it’s the truth. He noticed the water form in his eyes and the man felt a lump forming in his throat. He needed to step outside for fresh air but he knew that wasn’t possible right now.

Taking a deep breath, Cooper swallowed hard and listened to her speak. If there was one thing he still hated the most was seeing her cry, and all he wanted to do was hug her and tell her that it was going to be okay but he couldn’t do that, he wasn’t hers anymore. “Stop.” He whispered softly, and moved a few feet closer to her. He didn’t realize how much he missed being around her until now. He forgot that they were friends before they started dating and Cooper missed her friendship “You’re not a nightmare Chlo. You just got in a bad relationship with a bad guy. I’m… I’m sorry I didn’t fight hard enough for you. I just.. I was just as messed up in college from things.. and I didn’t really care about anyone but myself, until I met you. You. you helped me in so many ways you have no idea.” He laughed nervously and then looked at her, he cleared his throat and then got all choked up “I loved you too you know. I don’t remember if I ever said it back then, but I did. You were.. you were the first person who I truly fell in love with.”

Chloe’s breath was shaky as she tried to stop herself from having a meltdown in the middle of the police station. Every tear drop felt like a water fall against her face. She didn’t bat an eye talking about what happened to her a few weeks ago, but a simple question just threw her off the edge. She caught her breath, wiping her eyes and became composed once again. She hated loosing her cool in front of others, she could practically hear her fathers words yelling at her to remain calm.

“Cooper, please,” she said, a small chuckle coming out of her. “Really? You did?” Her eyes twinkling and her eyebrows furrowing together, finally realizing the wholesome truth of their relationship. She always wondered if he had loved her like she loved him. When Chloe fell in love, she fell hard and he had her heart from the beginning of their friendship. “That’s nice to know, actually,” the brunette admitted. “You were always sweet to me from the start. You helped me, too. You made me feel wanted and normal again...” she said but stopped herself from rambling. “Hey– are you sure this isn’t too much? I can... I can find another station to file at. I would never– I don’t want to make you uncomfortable.”
