kangdae squeezed jun’s hand lightly as the older boy talked. “i’m sorry if i rushed you into doing this,” he said softly, “but i’m happy for you, that you were able to say it.”

“you didn’t... it’s fine. honestly, i think i would’ve kept it in longer if this conversation didn’t happen.” he shrugged, staring at their hands now. “thank you. you’re the first one to know, actually.” he chuckled quietly, trying not to be nervous.

“No, this is a ghost”, he joked as he opened the door to welcome his cousin who had promised to visit in the morning before he had to run some errands for the BBQ. “It was the greatest thing, I haven’t had that much fun in forever”, he excitedly answered. “Missed me? I brought you some souvenirs… aren’t you dying to see them?”

“ha ha.” he fake laughed, rolling his eyes playfully. “that’s awesome. i’m glad you had fun.” jun sat down, hands in his hoodie’s pockets. “souvenirs? damn, i didn’t know you’d even think of bringing me any. what’d you get?”

kangdae thread his fingers through jun’s with a soft sigh, “i’m sorry,” he said softly, “i don’t want you to feel rushed, junnie. i can wait until you have, until you’re ready.”

jun shook his head. “no, it’s okay. n-now... now you know.” he responded quietly, smiling sadly at him. jun was always someone who was bright and smiley around his friend, but now, he just couldn’t hide how nervous he was. “i’m bisexual.” he finally spoke the two words he’s been having a hard time saying, and he had to admit to himself, he felt relieved. “have been since i was fifteen.”

kangdae pouted when the arms that were once around him fell away. he immediately retracted his arms as well and sat up, scooting away just a little bit. he didn’t know if jun heard his slip up, but if the older had, the fact that he stopped hugging kangdae was a rejection in his eyes. he doesn’t want to assume that that was what it was, but it was hard not to assume so. he wanted jun to feel the same way, he really did, and it was hard not taking the other’s words as encouragement. he was silent for a few moments, as if building courage for what he was about to do. turning to look at the older, he bit his lip, “do… do you though?”

jun didn’t expect this. he sat there in silence, his mind running a thousand miles an hour. he looked over at his friend, not meeting his eyes, but looking at the other’s hands. “i...” he took a deep breath. he’s been waiting for a moment like this since he was fifteen, and yet he still didn’t feel ready. he reached over and took one of kangdae’s hands into his own. “i wanted to come out properly first.” he answered quietly, sound uncharastically nervous.

kangdae sighed quietly, just taking in how utterly beautiful jun looked from this angle, or any angle, to be honest. “if i was, then i’d have the confidence to tell yo-” he stopped short, turning his head towards the ground in an attempt to hide his blush that was forming at his almost confession, “him how i feel, wouldn’t you think?” he continued his sentence as if it was never interrupted.

that threw him off guard. jun had frozen up, not knowing how to react. his heart was going off, not slowing down at all. “i-i... y-yeah, i guess.” he answered quietly. too quiet. kangdae was the person he was most comfortable around, but jun suddenly didn’t know how to act. in fact, he had no idea if he even heard him right. his arms that were around the other boy slipped away and he kept his hands in his lap. “you never know... he might feel the same. i wouldn’t know, though.”

“i want to, so much, i’m just scared,” he said softly, looking up at jun to the best of his ability without disrupting the older’s hand running through his hair. he chuckled, “am i though, am i really?”

i’m scared too, he thought. jun doubted he was talking about him. it was definitely someone else. “fair enough.” he nodded. kangdae’s face was too close, jun was genuinely ready to just lose it. “yes. why wouldn’t you be? i wouldn’t lie to you.”

“Yeah, I’m a little bit scared of it hurting. I’m also scared of needles and I know that’s what it is.” He smiled sheepishly, bringing a hand up to rub the back of his neck. “It’s okay though because I bought some temporary tattoo pens and hopefully Joon-ah will draw something pretty on me.”

“that’s nothing to be embarrassed about. lots of people don’t get tattoos because of the needles.” he shrugged. “oh, that would be cool. did you know there’re these temporary tattoos that you apply like those old kid tattoos, and they look like actual real tattoos? maybe you can try that.”
