Lexi shook her head “No…I..I was too worried about you…it’s okay..I’ll be eighteen soon” she smiled.

Tom pulled her closer. "As long as they don't send me too far. Then you could just stay with me... If you're here than your father might not care."

Lexi nodded and smiled “Yes…really” she whispered. “You’re safe now!”

He smiled widely at the thought before suddenly frowning. "What about you? Did you tell them about your dad?"

“Yes…we…we proved that your parents intended to hurt you” she whispered. “You never have to go back to them again”

Tom looked at her with wide eyes. "R-Really?" He asked hopefully.

Lexi pulled his hand to her heart “You were…why do you think the bullet missed my heart?” she whispered softly.

Tom couldn't help but smile a tiny bit. "I wish you hadn't been hurt... If I had woken up and heard you were gone." He shivered at the thought. "The trail, you... you said it was for me?" He questioned.

Lexi shook her head but she couldn’t deny that she had been pretty hurt. “I…I’ll be alright…” she whispered. “I am…I am just tired…and…recovering…”

Tom looked at her sadly. "I just wish I had been there for you."

Tom frowned and fought back tears. "It's my fault... If I had been awake, maybe I could have done something."

Tom trembled, looking at how close to her heart the bandage was. "I almost lost you and I wasn't even there." He whimpered.

He looked at her in concern. "What happened?" He asked, his eyes wide.

Lexi seemed to relax a little at that but she just wasn’t sure this was going to end well. She sighed and nodded slowly. “I…I just want to see him’ she whispered.

Tom tried to take in all the information. To him it felt as of he had just dozed off but it seemed a lot of time had passed. He looked over at her and frowned. "You're hurt..."

Lexi seemed to relax a little at that but she just wasn’t sure this was going to end well. She sighed and nodded slowly. “I…I just want to see him’ she whispered.

Tom drank the water greedily before starting to calm down. He looked at her, his eyes still adjusting to the light in the room. "What happened?"

Lexi seemed to relax a little at that but she just wasn’t sure this was going to end well. She sighed and nodded slowly. “I…I just want to see him’ she whispered.

Tom looked at her, his breathing quick and eyes wide. "What..." He tried to speak but his throat was too dry so he started coughing.

Lexi seemed to relax a little at that but she just wasn’t sure this was going to end well. She sighed and nodded slowly. “I…I just want to see him’ she whispered.

Tom twitched a few times before his eyes opened. He was confused for a moment before starting to panic, his heartbeat becoming way too fast.

Lexi seemed to relax a little at that but she just wasn’t sure this was going to end well. She sighed and nodded slowly. “I…I just want to see him’ she whispered.

The doctors came in and worked around Lexi, slowly removing the tube from Tom's throat. They watched anxiously for a moment but he was able to breathe on his own. They gave him a lower dose of the medicine so he would be able to wake up.

Lexi seemed to relax a little at that but she just wasn’t sure this was going to end well. She sighed and nodded slowly. “I…I just want to see him’ she whispered.

A nurse came in and explained to Lexi that they would be taking off the support but that they expected Tom to make a quick recovery.

The doctors finally cleared Tom to take away the life support but knew he would be freaked out so they decided to wait for Lexi.
