Here’s the final platonic pairing I’m reblogging for OFMD Rare Ships Week! I’ve always wished we’d gotten some Room People interactions during “Calypso’s Birthday,” so here’s a sweet little Frenchie & Wee John fic set at the end of that episode.

It was fun to participate in this event, with the two new stories I shared and the handful of previously-written ones that I reblogged. It made me happy to fly my Platonic Pairings flag throughout the week—as an aroace (who always writes Frenchie as aroace,) I love depicting friendships, showing that they can be just as affectionate, caring, and meaningful as romances in their own way 😊

This is the latest in my Someone to Watch Over Me sickfic series. If you’re just here for Roach Week, the first two fics in the series aren’t a prerequisite for reading this one. The first two Gentlebeard-focused storied are mostly separate in plot from the last two Roach & Frenchie-focused stories–the main connection is the same flu spreading around the ship. Despite having Frenchie’s name in the title, I promise Roach is a co-lead in this fic!

It’s a three-part story, so I’ll post a new chapter each day for Roach Week. Here in chapter 1, we’re kicking things off with the Tuesday prompt, Headache.

For OFMD Rare Ships Week, I’ve just been posting/reblogging stuff I already hand on hand, so I haven’t been paying much attention to the prompts. But I saw that today is Injuries, Sickfic, and Emotional Hurt/Comfort Day, which is absolutely my jam! So I’m reblogging a pair of Frenchie & Roach sickfics, by turns angsty and sweet.

First up is Frenchie’s story, which also features a nice smidgeon of Frenchie & Oluwande & Roach!

A platonic pairing for OFMD Rare Ships Week 2026!

Pirate life isn't quite what Frenchie had hoped back when he started out, but he can get by. He's good at making things work, figuring out how to survive, and taking the bright spots where he can find them. One crew isn't so different from another when you get down to it.

But then he disembarks for shore leave one day, and what does Frenchie find? A well-dressed gentleman hanging round the docks, an eccentric type who says he's looking for pirates.

Chapter 2 is up!

Stede takes Frenchie on a tour of the Revenge. Frenchie isn't sure if he's really interested in switching ships of if he just wants to milk the fancy gentleman for all he's worth, but one thing's for sure: Frenchie's never seen a ship quite like this.
