it’s not very often that you see a superhero with a little sister. So I think that is probably not going to occur to people that that, it’s not unheard of but it’s an unusual thing, so I think it brings out a different part of his character.[…] Even if it’s not a physical prowess, there is a mental prowess. It’s intelligence and savvy and so all of them present that, but the one that stands out the most actually is Shuri because of the ability, the way a little sister can poke at you and you’re protective of her but she still thinks she’s your mother, like all those different things. — Chadwick Boseman

maggie had REALLY tried. at least she could come away confident enough in that fact. the minute that she had realized she had left her pretty well disguised pocketknife ( gifted to her by kaven - he had a habit for giving her things she insisted she didn’t need. pocketknives, tasers, churros ) behind in the library, she’d rushed back to get it before some curious soul had opened it up and gotten a shock. unfortunately, the only thing she’d gotten back to her spot in time for had been seeing it snap upwards - and with a small groan, she pasted an awkward smile onto her face, moving forwards mere moments after it had popped up. “hey, that’s- it’s mine. if you give it back to me instead of reporting it, i promise, i’ve got a super good explanation.”
[ outgoing message // @murdockisms ] : hello to my fave big bro !!!!!!!! no1 murdock !!! not the hero this town needs but the one it deserves !!!! i just wanna check in and make sure u are having a good day !!! [ outgoing message // k ] : also can i have ur id ? thank u !!

Holly blinked up at the stranger, her cheeks flushing as she was scolded for her spot. “I’m sorry! I just thought- My sister and brother said people come out here all the time to just- And I wanted to read and it’s such a nice day I just thought-” She swallowed hard. “I’m sorry…”
this was absolutely not what maggie had been intending on happening. she hadn’t meant to admonish the blonde - just give her a heads up, that her chosen layabout spot wasn’t exactly SAFE. catching her gaze for as long as it took for her explanation to finish, maggie let her take a deep breath before she replied, carefully - “you don’t gotta apologize. i almost trampled on you. i’m just saying - you MIGHT wanna be just a little more conscious of your own safety. llie underneath a tree or something - anywhere that you’re not in everyone’s DIRECT path.”

Though Holly wasn’t always the biggest fan of the warm weather, she had to admit that the opposite was true today. There was nothing like laying out in the warm sun and reading a nice book. She figured today she would start rereading through Harry Potter since it had been a while. With a sigh, she stretched out on her towel and opened her book.
maggie wasn’t looking where she was going. in her defense ( and no, she didn’t care that it wasn’t really a defense, but more of a bad habit ), she never did. she’d gotten so used to being able to blindly walk across the quad during the colder months, focused more on texting than where she was going cause no one in their right mind was laying out, that she’d forgotten that with the warmer weather people would start to. and though she didn’t - thank god, she stopped right before she did - she ALMOST tripped right over the blonde laying out enjoying the rays. “oh my god-” she couldn’t be mad. she shouldn’t be mad. she wasn’t, really, but she was inconvenienced, and she couldn’t help the words that came tumbling out- “you need to be more careful about where you stretch out.”
castorsilver:
“really?” cas hummed thoughtfully. all things considered, despite his passing grade in history, he hadn’t really retained much. “i’m not as well-versed in earth’s history. you guys have all been so separated from galactic relations,” he explained with a shrug. he had a better grip on montressor’s history than anything. “guess there’s some issues with archiving this stuff, huh?”
“really really. there are SO many docs and movies based on the witch trials that lose pretty much all credibility as historical sources the minute that they show a with trial ending in a burning - cause they never even happened. d’you know how fucked up that is? there are so many people out there that only know the wrong information.” if it wasn’t obvious - the subject of the witch trials and the inaccurate information that she’d been spread on it all her life really fucked maggie up. which, speaking of... “how different is alien history to our history?” she sat up properly in one fluid movement, leaning forward a little to focus - easily hopping from one subject to the next one. “how far back does your history go? is it written, or passed on.. verbally, or what? are there conflicting ideas on how things came into being - do you have the same sort of religions as we do, or a better understanding of the big boom? do flat galaxy theorists exist?”
jensenspossible:
“history is fucked.” yep, that’s how jensen began. he wasn’t big on history, and this was partially why. it was confusing, and some of the things weren’t even right. besides, why was it important now? “can’t wait til they get rid of that stupid subject. what has history class ever really done for you?” the basic stuff everyone already knew about. having to take the same class year after year was tiring.
“don’t slam the subject. all it’s doing is reflecting how fucked the world is.” sure, she had already established how bad a job it was doing of that - but in spite of the inaccuracies and sometimes blatant ignoring of real issues, maggie did love the subject. otherwise, she wouldn’t have felt so swayed to defend it. “history does a lot. it explains the world, socially - helps us get how society has changed, and how we got from the big boom to now. you gotta appreciate that.”
Molly’s Game (2017) dir. Aaron Sorkin
jacks-onian:
“Not to clown porn compilations, no,” Jackson replied calmly after she finally paused for a breath. He sat back in his chair, weaving his fingers together on the table in front of him. “Look, I’ve been paired up with some real weirdos at this school, including my sister who decided to fill the room to the brim with an inordinate amount of pets. If I can deal with the creepy-ass scurrying of rat feet in the dead of night, it’s highly likely that I won’t care about a door opening and closing a couple of times, isn’t it? And besides, I tend to have weird sleeping hours, too.” He hitched a shoulder. What he said was an understatement, given that recently he’d only been sleeping about 3 hours every night from somewhere around 3 in the morning to 6. And then probably a nap now and then in the afternoon. He tilted his head to the side slightly, thinking up a couple questions for her, primarily: why are you so concerned with your brother’s roommate? Deciding, though, that he wasn’t interested enough in their brother-sister relationship, he let it go. “How’s the cereal?”
it only took those six words for maggie’s nose to wrinkle, and her lips to downturn. there wasn’t much more she could say than a simple ( but filled with disgust ) “gross”, her mind suddenly filled with a few images she really HADN’T wanted. sure - she supposed it was all a natural part of life. she just wished that she could backtrack and refrain from giving the necessary opening for him to share that over breakfast. "i don’t think that the pitter patter of rats -” if it were possible, her expression had soured even more, “- really equates to the noise kaven might make, but - so long as you feel confident you won’t be bothered, i guess. who knows? maybe you two’ll bond over those weird sleeping patterns.” maggie knew that wasn’t likely. it didn’t matter where jack hung out when he couldn’t sleep - his bedroom, the living room, the kitchen - the chances were slim to none that he’d bump into kaven, and even less that they’d have a catch up. “soggy. and they taste more like regret than anything. just cornflakes things, am i right?” she looked down to her bowl, regarding its contents like something might change now she’d insulted them, before her gaze flickered back up to jack, “d’you have any future cereal recs, roomie?”

what's your earliest childhood memory?
"i remember watching dad fight, once. i don’t mean in the ring or anything - i saw that plenty. i mean... i remember the door of our apartment splintering and then falling in on itself cause some guys kicked it down and came barging in. it wasn’t even related to his uh... hobby. they were just some random criminals, mad at him for putting their friend behind bars or something. he shoved kaven and i behind a couch and i remember watching what happened next. the neighbours must’ve called the cops cause they turned up pretty quick, and dad had to go answer questions while the guys he’d beat up got hauled outta there - far as i recall, we spent the rest of the night with aunt jess and uncle luke.”
