For so long now this baby has felt like both a curse and a blessing, twisting back and forth between situations and feelings about it. Part of Lorna has wanted to get rid of it, to not have it be a thing because it means admitting that she has to raise it in this messed up world of giants, where people are trying to kill her for being someone different. She’s tried to reason with herself day in and day out that it can be a beautiful miracle, that maybe this’ll bring her and Marcos closer, that they can fight the war and win it because they have motivation to do so.
But that isn’t the case, not any longer. No, those doubts sink into her very being and she closes her eyes tightly, allows for herself to be pulled into her boyfriend’s chest as she swallows thickly. It’s no like Lorna’s never considered it or thought that maybe things would turn out differently; she just doesn’t know enough about mutant pregnancies and had presumed that just because they were both full mutants that the baby would be a mutant as well.
“It isn’t right to raise it as a mutant if it isn’t. We can’t protect it then – they’ll see that the humans are right, that we’re just freaks causing damage. I…I guess we should…should start finding some sort of um, foster family who would take them in, who wouldn’t judge them for who their parents are. In…in case, you know?”
Shutting his eyes for a moment, Marcos draws in a breath. He doesn’t want to break down, not now. Not when Lorna needs him and his assurances. There would be time later for him to crumble. That time isn’t now.
Shaking his head at her words, he traces his thumbs along the curves of her cheekbone and peers down at her again. “Not yet,” he says. “It’s too early, and there are other things to worry about right now.” That, and he isn’t ready to take the fear seriously yet. Doing so would mean that it was a real possibility...
Frowning a little, he pauses. "We don’t know much about mutant pregnancies, but maybe there’s someone who does.” His gaze refocuses on Lorna’s as he goes on. “What if we can find someone who knows how the X-gene is passed down? We can ask them what the chances are that our baby will be like us.”

__________✦ A BROW RISES AT THE IDEA THAT HE CAN HELP HER … THAT HER ABILITIES TRULY AREN’T AS OUTLANDISH as the rest of the world would have them believe. ❛ what kind of practice do you have in mind ?? ❜ she’s been trained by some of the best … some of the strongest in body && soul, yet still control remains out of reach. does she dare hope he has an answer ??
“Practice,” he says. “Your abilities have quite a range, so I say we go out to an abandoned field or the wilderness and practice there.” They are not high-tech by any means. Like the old saying, beggars can’t be choosers. “Out there, you can focus, relax, and learn to hone your abilities. No one’s around, so no one gets hurt.”
