·who does she think she’s fooling? not jason, that’s for sure. he glances up, a half smile there on his face. part of him is still a little nonplussed at the way she’s behaving–as if treading on eggshells–but the·other·part, the bits that know she can be as taciturn as she can be steely, are relaxed in knowing she’s making an effort to talk to him about something.

·whatever else the problem may be, at least he’s not shut out of it. yet.

`what’s on your mind, reyna? you’re not usually one to beat about the bush.`

· · · · · of course he notices --they know each other too well, more like instinct that actual knowledge. she doesn’t respond however, save for a cryptic stare that glances away all too quickly.

· · · · · she’s good with words, none can deny her eloquence and vigor on the senate floor, but these, the words she needs now·don’t came quite as easily. war is good at politics, but not so much the politics of the heart and emotion. a frown tugs at the corner of her lips, eyes directed before her as her fingers go to twist her silver ring.

            she says cryptic things now, like riddles they used to bounce off each other long ago, and he’s still as puzzled as ever. he can tell by the TONE alone, that whatever she’s referring to isn’t what meets the eye at first glance. so, jason approaches the question with caution. things are strange, with the augur gone gone and the greeks visiting weekly.

            `uh. i’d hope not: we’d have all the old issues from before if things went back to how they used to be, y’know? plus it’s better to keep things moving ahead nicely. gives us all a chance to find a level ground we’re not worried about being ruined, right?`

          it’s not so much that the praetor is adverse to change --the world continues to turn because of change, though all change for better and for worse. and really, she should have never asked the question in the first place because given the choice, would she turn back the clock to a time before? of course not, because every one of her actions is made with the legion heavy on her mind, but even the most noble can be selfish sometimes, can’t they?

                                            “not worrying about destruction is good.”

          she agrees, bravery falling just a bit more than short to say that isn’t quite what she had meant ( but does reyna even know the truth of the motivation behind her own words? ).

                                            “change is good. advancement is good.”

          “ do you ----do you think it will ever be the same? “ though really, despite being the daughter of war she is happy for the peace, for the calm bliss that settles over the too-long split demigods. no --what she refers to is more personal, lost memories or laughter and sparring and brownies, if one chooses to think of it like that.

one year later and i’m still mad how rick totally disintegrated jason and reyna’s relationship to make way for jasper like tell me how rick had written mark of athena down to blood of olympus of how he just downplayed the fact that jason and reyna know and memorize each other that jason said that he didn’t mean to lead her on and in the end rick fronted piper and reyna’s friendship!! uwu just to shut down who criticizes jasper. jason felt guilty of liking piper when a memory of reyna brought back to him. no way i had to reiterate reyna’s feelings as if it hadn’t been (painfully) evident throughout the whole series. but ok cool, whatever will work for the fake ass relationship that really had 0 chemistry and basically forced each other because that’s what the mist said so and still a shallow relationship in the end more appealing
