🍩 - How do you feel about yourself?

{♥} – ❝Myself? I am merely a man…I’d like to say human, but that wouldn’t be strictly true, now would it?❞ The Reaper was aware of his privilege, and it would be rather complacent of him to dismiss that truth. And yet, as far as matters of the heart were concerned, Śmierć considered himself to be intrinsically ordinary. He laughed, he cried, and he craved connection just like everybody else. ❝People - human people, that is - tend to view me as either good or bad, though I am a truly neutral entity. I do what I do because it is the natural order. I serve the Universe as a whole, not any specific deity in particular.❞

🍓 - Where is it okay for friends to touch?

Śmierć had been addressee to many a unusual and philosophical questions from strangers in his time, but that was certainly a new one. Still, he received it with grace, if not a modicum of amusement. ❝Well, that would largely depend on our dynamic. I have friends with whom I would share a bed, and friends with which I’d think it strange to embrace. Is it relevant?❞ The Reaper chuckled.

👒 - Don’t be shy, what’s your personal style?

❝Much like my aspect of being, I prefer not to label myself one way or another, though I suppose if I were pressed, I might say that I derive my personal style from casual punk. Leather jackets and ripped jeans are my go-to, which always surprises people, I think. Most people think of Death as some kind of mysterious, cloaked figure with very little to say for its “style”, as such. Myself…well, I’m not quite so sharply dressed, as you can see. After all, it’s how you treat people that really matters, is it not?❞

{♥} – Śmierć had been here before, a long time ago. It had been a grandiose example of aristocratic wealth back in its day. Now, the pale, old-fashioned floral wallpaper coiled away from the walls as if it was trying to escape the abandoned stately home altogether in thin, weary strips. Where the intricate oaken grain of the parquet flooring had once carried the tread of many a nobleman and woman, there was but mostly fractured wood and rubble in its place.

Śmierć hummed softly as he took in the dilapidated scene around where he and Alistair were standing. Something in the atmosphere felt inexplicably heavy, almost as though it were trying to communicate something to them. Śmierć knew that it was only a matter of time before whatever was lingering stagnant here in this broken building would show its presence to him, even if Alistair himself could not perceive it. ❝It would certainly appear so…the owners must have all vacated in a hurry. Most of their possessions are still here.❞ He ran his fingertips idly across the base of a tarnished brass lamp, recollecting the time he had spent here in the distant past. A gentle smile graced his features as he reminisced in silent nostalgia of all the people he’d met and all the dances they had once shared.

{♥} – The reaper’s face looked slightly tense, though his bearing exercised mastered poise. Śmierć exhaled a slow and even breath, contemplating how to navigate this sudden confrontation of which he had no prior anticipation. It saddened him to know that he had somehow inadvertently let them down. ❝Would you be able to give me an example of that? I truly regret having neglected your expectations, though I’m not quite sure what it is that you mean. I’m not…❞ He trailed off, swallowing a sudden bolt of aggravation that seemed to grip him like a vice, causing a reflexive response that was completely unnatural to him; his fists tightened, his expression suddenly darkened by a thunderous scowl - if only for a moment, before he was able to suppress it.

He’d been reflecting her feelings of frustration and dismay – a secondary effect of his extradimensional energy. ❝…Forgive me.❞ He shifted contritely from foot to foot, ❝You know I hate it when that happens.❞

{♥} – Śmierć governed a rather temperate chuckle, maintaining his reverence given the relevant subjects, still while choosing to oblige the question to a token degree, his dark eyes glistening beneath the light in both devotion and good humour. He clasped his hands behind his back, smiling in a self-collected manner as he gave his reply, ❝Some of them do, yes.❞ Several whose fleshly bodies he had personally worshipped, himself. But he appreciated that this was rather beside the point.

{♥} – Strictly speaking, there were designated reapers for escorting animals from plane to plane, but every so often, a rogue cat, dog, or even hamster would sneak its way into Śmierć‘s clutch. The reaper chuckled mildly as he knelt down on one knee to offer the tiny soul his open palm, rising back up to his full height as it scurried its way up his arm to rest upon his shoulder. ❝Alright...❞ he sighed, the sound echoing across the liminal space, ❝come on, then.❞

A low curse was barely heard upon sensing the overbearingly calm presence that resounded not too far.  “Before you lecture me, I didn’t know that person was suppose to die.”

{♥} – A deep, melodic rumble left Śmierć’s throat as he advanced behind her, his footsteps having been entirely inaudible, but his presence by ambience alone, ever-palpable. ❝Bastet.❞ he greeted sedately. He should have known it would be her. The reaper bowed his head reverentially, in spite of her having - albeit, she claimed, unintentionally - impeded his work, ❝How many centuries has it been since you & I crossed paths...?❞

    The boy’s attempt to get his wig back on his hood proved to be futile – the wig kept falling into his face, making the ‘Princess’ pissed. 

 Of all the times for the wig to fail him.

{♥} – Quietly, the metaphysical being observed the costumed, young boy from the sidelines of the park, his body aching with the same frustration the ‘Princess’ felt at not being able to secure the garment to his hoodie. Śmierć was a natural empath; feeling the emotions of others was just a natural part of his day, but the unhappiness of a child was always one he felt he must act upon. The reaper slipped out a pin from his slicked-back hair, and knelt slowly down to the young boy’s level, holding it out to him with an open palm, ❝Here. Try this.❞

Holly was trying not to laugh at how stupid what she’d just said sounded. “Oh wow… okay, as if it wasn’t clear enough already, I’m not the brightest bulb in the package. But at least I try.”

{♥} – Śmierć turned out a reserved & reassuring smile, one that seemed soft around the edges. ❝I do not believe that. You hardly seem the doltish type.❞ He pressed his lips together, exhaling a sigh in contemplation, ❝Perhaps...you are just ill-informed. Is there anything you would like to know?❞

{♥} –Śmierć offered the man an inquisitive eye, having not intentionally been giving him any sort of particular gaze, ❝Look at you in what way…?❞ he asked openly.

❝You are dying.❞ Śmierć informed him with honed delicacy, resting a guiding hand upon the small of the soul’s back, gently urging him not to fight against the inevitable. ❝Try not to combat it…it will only prolong your suffering. Your time has come, dear spirit…it is time to depart from this land. Come with me, and I will take you to your eternal resting place, where you can be free.❞

The space around Zephyr would have felt like a dream. It was overflowing with calm, spiritual energy, and would probably cause a great deal of sedation within whichever soul was making the transfer. Whether or not they were strong enough to fight it was up to them.
