“Let me compliment you as I wish.” he teased lightly, closing his eyes and just relaxing. “Now that sounds great.” he kissed him one more time, before sitting up. “You can have as many drawers as you’d like. Actually.” he looked at the time, before looking back at his boyfriend. “I have a plan for us today.” He had been planning this day for a while now, and he couldn’t help but feel excited.

“You’re right, I really should. I do love your compliments after all! And wouldn’t you say, I deserve them.” Edward replied. He tried not to let his ego get the better of him, aware that it was a problem and apart of him that many couldn’t stand but Stephen knew him. He understood why he did it. “Don’t tempt me. I’ll take over your entire closet if I have my way.” He said with a chuckle. A little surprised to hear they had plans, he blinked. It must have been a surprise, because he would have remembered having plans. “Oh?” He perked up, curiously. “Oh, Stephen, what did you have in mind. No wait- don’t tell me. Give me a clue. Let me figure it out.”

That face alone was something Selina hadn’t realized just how much she missed until now. Call her sentimental but boy was it great to see Eddie again. Even if they hardly were on the same page as co-workers, she’d take the leather off her back for him. Always. Again and again. “Yours truly. At your service.” She chuckled at his words, shaking her head as she watched the pick pocket search for the stolen wallet. It brought her great joy knowing she was still the best. “Oh you know petty theft is no longer on my agenda.” She then opened her arms and winked. “C’mon, darling. bring it in.” 

Ed let out an overjoyed laugh as she opened up her arms for him. He easily accepted the hug. Pulling his friend close to himself. It’d been so long since the man laid eyed on Selina Kyle. He had no idea that such a big part of his life was missing until he was holding her in his arms. Thinking about how they fit together like two puzzle pieces. “I’m so glad you’re here.” Edward told her. “Life’s been a little boring without you.” He told her before finally pulling back and getting another look at her face. “You look great, by the way.”

Ed let out a sharp gasp, placing a hand on his mouth. Which took the most force from the sudden attack. “Ow!” He exclaimed, slowly glancing back at Pamela. Like he was half expecting to take another hit from her. You push a girl into a pool in the middle of winter and suddenly she doesn’t like you anymore. He squinted at her, suddenly realizing that his vision was a lot worse. His glasses must have flown off from the hit. “What the heck was that?”

New York City. Back to her old stomping grounds. Gotham was home, sure but in New York, she had established herself and seeing that most of her friends and family resided her now, it made sense for Selina to return here. She had sublet her old apartment so it was easy to come back to it. After settling in, the former thief decided that a walk was in order. not much had changed. Even the burglars in the park remained the same. As one walked by, she slipped her hand into their pocket, pulling out a watch and kept walking. 

“I think this belongs to you.” Selina returned it to the park goer and offered them a smile. “Looks like sticky fingers over there couldn’t help themselves. 

Edward was enjoying himself in the park. Oswald had given him the day off, and he thought it was a nice enough day to go outside and maybe feel the sun on his skin. He didn’t even feel the hand of the young pickpocket so he wasn’t sure why he was stopped by a woman. He turned to look at her, his face lighting up at the sight of Selina with his wallet. “Selina?” He exclaimed with a gasp. Taking the wallet back from her. “I’m almost shocked you didn’t just keep it for yourself.” He joked, before pocketing it again. “It’s so good to see you!”

Oswald smiled softly at how kind Edward was being with his pain, it never failed to act up when a storm was on the way. So having Edward close helped a lot more than most people probably knew. “I love it when you get all scientific about things, I’m sure the fact it never got to heal correctly didn’t help it either” He replied before relaxing a bit as the pain seemed to ease with Ed’s massage. “I wouldn’t think that We share a complex relationship always have.” he mused softly before turning his gaze back to Ed’s face, he hated his ankle everything about it displayed his failure to properly handle situations. His eye had taken quite the hit for Ed but in truth, he would’ve done it again in a heartbeat. He moved his hand to sit on Ed’s shoulder. “Never be sorry, It was my choice to do that, and given the chance again I’d take it, plus I can still see out if it after a couple of surgeries.” 

Edward nodded at the other man’s words. “Yes, that’s probably part of it. I was thinking the same thing. I think you’ll have pain for the rest of your life, but I’m sure I can find a way to lessen it for you. Maybe though medication or we can try other techniques.” He offered him. “Does the massaging help?” He asked curiously. He thought it might, but he wasn’t sure. He wasn’t a doctor, he mostly knew what he did from his training while trying to become the GCPD’s medical examiner. He glanced up to his friend. He knew Oswald’s eyes was better now, but there was no way he didn’t lose some vision in it. He wished he could say the same thing back to him. That he was selfless enough to lose an eye for his best friend. Shame choked him. Knowing that he’d never be as brave as Oswald had been. “You’re too good to me. You’ve always been. You’re my very best friend.” He said, before continuing Oswald’s massage.

Stephen let out a soft sigh, relaxing against Ed’s form. He ran a hand through dark locks of hair. His worries reduced to nothing when he was there with his boyfriend. But sometimes he wished he had more time for it. “Me too.” he murmured, now grabbing at the smaller male’s side. “Waking up to you was heavenly, you know. When we lived together. It made it almost impossible to get out of bed.” he smiled softly, thinking of the little world they had created during that time.

“Heavenly?” He asked, “You make it sound like such a dream. I know I’m great, but... heavenly?” He leaned in and gave Stephen another kiss, this time on the corner of his lips. Stephen was running his hands through his hair, which normally he would mind. If it were anyone else. Edward leaned back from his boyfriend and placed a hand on his cheek. “You know, Oswald gives me the weekends off. You should give me a drawer here and I can stay every single weekend. It’ll be like living together part time.”

Oswald detested storms, while always pretty to watch, it never failed to cause his ankle immense pain. All it took was the forecast of something coming and he was render the cripple he really was which in turn to set him off on anger faster than normal. So here he sat at home on the couch with his foot raised up on the table with a pillow supporting it. Of course, the only good thing about this pain was that Edward seemed to enjoy spoiling him with attention, ensuring he was well taken care of. He felt the pain shoot up his leg moving to grab his clothed ankle still hating the sight of his deformity when he felt another hand pull his away rubbing it carefully easing the pain away before placing a soft kiss upon it. “You know when I said I wouldn’t mind it if The Ridder kissed my feet I wasn’t being literal” He joked smiling at his friend “You don’t have to do that you know…. I know…its quite horrible to look at…”

Ed pulled away from his friend’s ankle before giving it another look over. He wished there was more he could do for Oswald. When the storms rolled in, it always seemed to make things a lot worse for his good friend. “You know, most scientist believe that old injuries like this one flare up in bad bad weather because there’s a drop barometric pressure. Which in turn, causes soft tissue and fluid to expand around your injury. Aggravating your nerves.” Edward told him, before gently going back to massaging the skin around. “You practically had me kissing your feet a long time ago.” He joked. Then Oswald said it was horrible to look at. Edward gave it another look. It was an old injury that had healed wrong. Likely because no one set Oswald’s ankle after it had been broken. “I’ve seen much worse.” He reminded him. “Your eye, for example.” He joked with him, giving him a small smile but it faded quickly. “Which was my fault. I’m still sorry about it.”

It was good to be with Stephen, getting a little attention from him for once. He had no clue why he wasn’t getting to spend more time with the other man. Fine, Stephen was busy. He had monsters to slay and dimensions to save but Ed would have preferred a lot more time with Stephen. Surely he didn’t have to save every dimension. Why did that have to be his burden? He pressed himself closer to Stephen and gave him a kiss on his lips before breaking off and moving to his neck. “We should spend every night together.” The man murmured between kisses.

He knew she was having a hard time. It wasn’t the first time someone had taken her against her will, and he recalled how bad the first time had been for his friend. She never really got over it, this was like rubbing salt in her open wound. He pulled Daisy into his lap and leaned down to give her a kiss on the forehead. All he wanted was her to feel safe when she was with him, and though he wasn’t sure physical affection would do the trick… he knew it always worked on him. “You’ll be okay, Daisy.” He soothed.

Daisy didn’t quite meet Ed’s eyes when he spoke, feeling like he’d be able to see through her if she did and know that her hypothetical question wasn’t exactly so hypothetical. Who was she kidding? He probably already knew it was about her anyways, as was evidenced by his final question. “Yeah.” She usually was good at balancing the good with the bad and trying to outweigh the bad with the importance of the good. It just didn’t always work out that way. “I- There was this … guy. He-” She wasn’t sure how to describe it. “I was stuck with him for awhile, and I couldn’t- I had to do everything he said whether I wanted to or not. It’s not even the first time something like that’s happened to me.”

The way she described it made his stomach twist. Normally, he didn’t care much for most people. This didn’t get a reaction out of him, but Daisy was different. She had been his friend for longer than most could stand him. He couldn’t imagine her being abused. Being told what to do. Forced into things she didn’t want. There was a quiet rage inside of him and his eyes shifted from caring to angry.  “I...” He breathed out a sigh, trying to get his voice a little more calm. “Daisy. When I was a child, I found myself fascinated with magic tricks. Not because they were entertaining, but because I always wanted to solve them. I wanted to know how to do it. Now I’m older and I know every trick in the book. I can make a man disappear.” He hinted. “I’m happy that you’re safe now, but I can’t stand to think that there’s a possibility it might happen again. Do you want to see a magic trick?” The question was really more along the lines of do you want me to make him disappear.

It was late at night now, but Daisy felt like she needed to be somewhere that she didn’t need to fake feeling fine. She could be herself with Ed, and now she was just laying in a room with him. Maybe she could just lay here forever and not go on to what would likely be a continuously painful future. She sighed. She hadn’t yet told him what happened. She’d just been sitting there in silence for awhile, but she felt like she should say something now. “Do you think … some people can just … attract bad things to them?”

He knew something was wrong with her, but he couldn’t yet figure out what. Daisy was his good friend, but that didn’t mean he knew her intimately enough to tell her feelings the moment he saw her. Like he could with Oswald. People were just tricky to get a grasp on sometimes.  When she finally spoke, breaking their comfortable silence, Ed moved to sit up and look at her. “I think that’s plausible.” He said, his voice soft. “I’ve seen people constantly have bad things happen to them, but there’s always good with the bad. Right? What’s happened?”

“No one noticed me before I became him. I mean, I spent every day in the GCPD, just aching for a friend. Any friend. I didn’t have any growing up either. I know, hard to believe!” Ed said with a chuckle, though there was a touch of pain to his voice as he recalled it. “I tried so hard but still I was paid no mind. I’ve never felt so alone in my life and I still don’t understand why I was ignored. I was smart and I was… funny. I think.” He paused and poured Selina a cup of tea. In becoming the Riddler, Ed became so much more. In a way, he was respected now. People knew his name. “Anyway, what I was leading up to is that I’m glad to have you as a friend now.”

Diana turned to the person standing beside her, mulling over his question. Would she do anything for love? Absolutely, if it was within reason. There was almost nothing that she wouldn’t do to get Steve Trevor back. He was her first and only love. The things he’d made her feel were so extraordinary that she hadn’t ever been able to forget them, even years later. “Yes, I would,” she eventually answered, giving him a small smile. “I think that love is so special, and so unique for everyone. Once you find it, you have to hold onto it. If it made me question my morality, I might second guess myself. But, if I could get my first love back, I would do whatever I could.”

He nodded when she said she would. He felt a bit soothed for only a moment but then she continued, saying how she would second guess herself if it made her question her morality. His lips curled into a tight smile and the tension was right back on his mind again. Was Stephen second guessing himself? Did he think this relationship between them wasn’t worth it? After all, Edward was a bad person. He didn’t just take one life. He had taken many. He’d be classified as a serial killer by now and surely his boyfriend knew it. He wondered what Stephen thought of it. Wondered if it might be worse if he didn’t care. 

“Get your first love back?” Finally something to change the topic in his own mess of a mind. If I could get my first love back. He bit the inside of his cheek, remembering Kristen. Her lovely red hair, the way her glasses perched on the top of her nose. Her kind smile. “What happened to them? If you don’t mind my asking...”

Oswald chuckled softly hugging Edward back, he meant every word he spoken to his friend, without Ed there were times he was quite sure he never would’ve pulled through. “Tis the season for Corny or so I’m told” He replied chuckling before smiling “I hope you don’t mind I got you one as well, shall we exchange now? I’m sure you and Stephen have plans later”

“That it is!” Edward replied with a laugh, pulling away and giving his friend a bright, wide smile. “Say, I never asked you if you celebrate Christmas-” He said, pushing up his glasses. “Your last name... Kapelput. It’s German, isn’t it? Did you and your mother celebrate something else growing up? If you did, I’d like to celebrate that. Next year, with you.” Edward spewed. Then Oswald asked if we should exchange gifts now and he chuckled. “I was hoping you’d say that. I couldn’t keep it a secret any longer, and it’s been dying to get out of my room. Give me a second-” He said quickly moving to his room and emerging with a large box. He placed it gently at Oswald’s feet.
