"hm." hope thinks aloud. he was crazy she knew that much, to be with someone like her and maybe she was crazy for being with someone like him, but she couldn’t help the desire she felt to protect him like he felt with her. she stares at him for a moment, before she kisses him, her lips saying what she thought but could never actually say.

“i wouldn’t say i have her. she’s so.” she shakes her head a sigh coming from the siphoner. penelope was a whole different kind of situation for josie, something she didn’t want to get into now. her cheeks go rosy again from the soft touch from the tribrid. “i’ll keep that in mind. i might need you to save me from zombies again.” she chuckles, brown eyes meeting with blue. “i miss home, hope. i miss raf, mg, even caleb.” she sighs again, chewing on her bottom lip. “and little pedro, too.”

hope listened, but didn't say anything. she didn’t share the same desires josie did. to go back HOME. her parents were here, and she was sure that’s all she needed to survive. “maybe one day we’ll go back.” she says with a hopeful smile, though she knows it’s highly unlikely. “maybe... maybe this is all a bad dream. maybe we didn’t get rid of the dream demon after all.” she smiles a bit.

hope will soon develop a desire to rid the world of the people who took her parents away from her since they’re alive in this world. she’ll start with greta, and the inner darkness will consume her, leaving her in a state of vengeance. she’ll eventually find a need within herself to dispose of every family enemy they’ve had over the years which will leave her crippled in rage and paranoia.

“okay, well.” he starts, having to pause because he wasn’t sure what to say. what COULD he say? it only makes sense that he would sacrifice himself for her, that’s the only explanation as to why he would ever kill himself. he steps forward again but hesitates, not wanting to touch her if she wouldn’t welcome it. he knew more than anyone what it was like not wanting to be touched by anyone. “i’m sorry, sweetheart. i’m — i know what it’s like to lose someone important to you.” he thinks of camille and there’s a sting in his chest but it passes quickly. she was back at that’s all that mattered to him. “but i’m back now and i’ll do EVERYTHING i can to make myself remember you. i wish i did, i truly do — i have no idea what’s going on with my head. my only thought is a witch aching for revenge.” and he rolls his eyes, frustration evidently shown on his face. why wasn’t he remembering his daughter? what was going on in this one pony town? “i hope you can see your mother again, if i’m here she might be too.”

"she isn’t.” hope blinks repeatedly, something she did when she tried her best not to shed tears. she had enough of crying over things she couldn’t control. “i’m glad. she’d be disappointed in some of the things i’ve done.” she thinks back to their last moments together, how much she wanted greta dead, how she would’ve suffered if she made it out of that house alive and her mother didn’t. burning alive was too kind of a fate for hope to accept. “she limited me sometimes. had unrealistic expectations for me. you... you understood me. let me make my own decisions no matter the consequences. sometimes i thought it was you making up for the fact that you abandoned me for a few years.”

she has helped him the most since he came back to mystic falls, back to life. stefan wasn’t going to give up. he nods, smiling faintly at her list of last wishes, “i’ll keep that in mind but —” he pauses and takes a breath, “if there’s a way for you to stay here, with your parents, you take it.” he wasn’t a witch, he couldn’t do much when it came to magic. he was searching for the vampire and wolf he promised to find in order for klaus to complete his hybrid transformation. that much he could do. “hope, would you be willing to help me with something?” he asks.

the strawberry blonde looks up from her view of the bricks and towards him, her eyes squinting a bit as a half smile creeps onto her features. “yeah.” she says without hesitation, looking around as she tries to think of why he even had to ask. being a dynamic duo meant they had each other’s backs, no matter what. “anything, what’s up?”

“don’t be, it’s not your fault. i’m sorry for kissing you, i know you have landon.” her cheeks are once again a light shade of red and she shakes her head. “the thing is, i don’t need lizzie as much when i have you, hope.”

"and you have penelope." she tried to make light of their situation, though the realization only serves to make hope feel even worse. there was a time where she wished she was penelope, for SELFISH reasons, but the longing for that was long gone. “and me too.” she smiles, tucking a piece of josie’s hair behind her ear. “you’ll always have me.”

“well, that’s not quite true. but i’ll agree for you, my love.” he smiles a genuine one, his hands reaching to grab a hold of hers. the only person who could make him genuinely smile was camille and he had to admit it felt nice to smile again. though his eyes roll, playfully when her nose scrunches after he calls her his significant other. he’d have to note that one was a firm no. “so, you made me pancakes with blood in the middle,” he teases and laces his fingers with hers. “but sure, let’s discuss my problems over breakfast.” he mused as he pulled her towards the dinning room.

camille allows him pull her to the dining room by their intertwined hands. was this the life they were meant to live? she was HAPPY and although she knew things would inevitably turn sour in their lives, she’d treasure the times where they acted like newly weds. the smile on her face is one that doesn’t fade. he got to touch her again and for the longest time in limbo, she agonized over the fact that she’d never feel him like she once did. “is this about hope?” things weren’t looking up for klaus in the memory department. “or is this about elijah?”

a smile graces his features upon hearing the familiar voice. he had missed cami the most, she’d been gone for so long. “yeah, back in new orleans — i hope.” he answers and turns around slowly. he brings her into a warm hug and sighs in relief. “i missed you, cami.” he smiles softly, “do you have any idea how much we needed you?” he asks her, pulling away and raising an eyebrow, “how do you feel? being alive again and in a completely different town…” he questions.

the hug is one that brings suppressed feeling running back to her heart. she felt like she had missed out on EVERYTHING. hope was grown up now, she had heard vincent was a surrogate for freya and her wife. lucien had made her miss everything, and she HATED the feeling. she hugs him back with everything in her, a smile rested on her face. “i know.” being there, as a spirit watching everyone’s last years in the city was tough. “i’m... adjusting.” is all she says, because it’s all she’s been doing. “i missed all of you so much. i feel... like an outsider again.”

“of course, i’ve already said how much i trust you.” he was stil confused - he didn’t know a lot about magic, but he did trust her more than nearly everyone. he trusted raf a little bit more. “so, what now? how do we do this?”

"i'll figure things out first.” like what she was going to do when the time for the ritual came. “something tells me this little thing will cause world war three when the time comes.” she sounded uneasy. “i’ve been wrapped up in wars before, just... not where my dad’s happiness is at stake. kind of a lot of pressure.”

her sudden death had took a toll on her. she was having trouble adjusting. trouble finding her place in a town she knew nothing about. she missed the CRESCENT city — her friends. none but klaus remembered her, but the second she had heard of vincent’s arrival, she wasted no time in finding him. unknown to all, she had watched them from the other side say their goodbyes to her. MOURN her the only way they knew how. “you been keeping the fire warm and the beers cold for me?” she repeats his last words towards her in death, her hand gently resting on his shoulder from behind.

“maybe the heels had helped, but i always know when you’re around.” he placed his paint brush down and turned to face brunette. a sigh comes from him and he steps towards her, pressing a light kiss to her cheek. “is this you asking as my therapist or as my —” he pauses, unsure of what to call her. girlfriend sounded silly, like they were teenagers. but partner sounded too formal, too business like. and lover sounded much like they were only in it for the sex and that wasn’t the case. it never was when it came to camille. “as my … significant other?” sure, klaus go with that.

camille listens to him ramble with a smile rested on her face. he always seemed to ramble, whether out of anger or just plain paranoia, yet she always looked at him the same. he was intriguing no matter what he did, making their romance more passionate than anything she had ever experienced. “i’ve always been both.” at the feeling of a simple and innocent kiss on her cheeks, they are set ablaze with a rosy color. “but right now i’m asking as your...” significant other sounded too... mature. reminded her of their real age difference for some reason which made her nose scrunch up with a laugh. she decides against labeling herself as anything. “maybe we can talk about it over breakfast, hm? i made your favorite.”
