lee puckered his lips as he was looking at the old video camera that purred in his hands. his project of filming the people of moon valley had proved to be harder than he thought at first. it had seemed a good idea in his mind, but considering how his least favorite thing in the world was approaching strangers, he was now stuck in the middle of a sidewalk filming people walking past him.
he kept taking his eyes off the camera, trying to figure out a good angle. he was a little perfectionist. the little things made often a huge difference. he finally settled with the thought that the road would look much better when filmed from the other direction, so he turned, and without watching bumped into someone walking by.
“oh i’m so sorry!” the apology came as a reflex. he didn't really have the time to who’d fault it was.
“Watch it—!” Sloane barked back at the boy who did nothing but apologize for his actions. She had been heading home from work, getting off the early morning shift and was tired and not looking to deal with anymore of anyone’s bullshit. She sighed hard and assessed herself slouching the satchel she was carrying higher on her slim shoulder. “It’s fine,” She claimed, tilting her chin upwards. “We all make mistakes... some more than others,” She pointed out and then hooked her hand on her hip. “We’re you just filming me a second ago?” Sloane questioned, pointing at his old camera as casually as she could. “Because I walked by and it really seemed like you were. Isn’t that, like, an invasion of privacy?”
“Well… that’s just perfect, now isn’t it?” Sloane had been working odd jobs for awhile now — ever since she was a pre-teen and decided that her own money was something of a necessity for her. Somehow, lately, she landed being part of the wait staff at one of the local diners, even despite her rough facade. It definitely wasn’t up her alley or even in the realm of what she was really interested in. After all, who’d get joy from picking up after other people and dealing with customers all day? Certainly not Sloane, but she was saving up to take a trip out of town and this was the best she could do with what she had. While she never quite looked pristine or like she could never do any wrong, she stood in the doorway of the entrance of the alien-themed restaurant with an unlit cigarette in her mouth as she was headed on her way outside. Her eyes widened when she saw who exactly was about to enter, but tried not to let on that she had been startled. Sloane didn’t quite get along with most people. “Did you need me for something?” She asked with a rather monotone voice. “Because we both know that you’re probably not wanting to see me, and I’m trying to enjoy my break and you might just be ruining that too.” She sighed, although she would have to probably serve them once she was off her little break because that was her job. She was stuck in quite the predicament: being the staff to a place someone she wasn’t fond of was visiting. What a drag, she thought to herself.
“Be careful of that girl, There’s a fire burning behind her eyes. She makes kingdoms fall, and monsters wish they’d never been born. She’s not just a warrior—she is a dragon. And she is not afraid to burn your heaven to the ground.”

holy shit! did you see that? oh wait, that’s just sloane morrow, the local margaret qualley lookalike. apparently, she’s been in Moon Valley for seven whole years! they’re very farsighted, but also pretty competitive, which is why: attempting to hide tear-stained cheeks, tights with rips in the knees, long black hair, multiple ear piercings, and going to the local sushi bar describes their vibe effortlessly. I wonder what this twenty year old hopes to discover in good ol’ Moon Valley.
