-it's late at night and someone or something is in the breakroom. what ever it is, they seem to be helping themselves in the fridge-
The woman is on her way to her office room, which requires her to cross the breakroom. She hears clinking, rummaging noises, which causes her to stop before the door.
Is there a new employee in the Office? If that is true, then they’re going to find themselves unlucky–that fridge is almost bare and dry with empty boxes.
Ready to greet the visitor, Marlise enters the room. She finds herself standing before…
… Well, she can’t exactly tell what it is yet.
“Follow me,” she said to him, exiting the breakroom. The two strolled through the empty building. Nothing moved, nothing stirred. It was as if time had stopped in this place.
Marlise entered a large office space occupied with numbered desks. She went to one of the windows, which seemed to have a white bright light shining directly through them. They could have just been fitted with fluorescent light panels, though.
“Do you see this window?” she asked.
the pseudo elsen did what he was told, following the woman through the empty corridors. they seemed rather put off that they didn’t see anyone, not a single soul. he was so sure that he really improved his sneaking skills. Douglass’ eyes widen to know that this office space didn’t have anyone inside of it. this was honestly reminding him too much of home, way to much. he looked at the window she stood next to. nervously looking from side to side and thinking weather he made a really really bad choice on transferring to such a place. “y-yes? what’s wrong with the window?” he replied with a question, hoping the answer wouldn’t be the batter doing.
Marlise looked around a bit, unplugging a nearby pencil sharpener from a desk.
She gestured to the window, as if asking Douglass to watch closely.
She then threw the pencil sharpener out the window. Literally.
The window was actually open this whole time. The sharpener soared through the air with ease and disappeared into the white “light”. A shattering noise could be heard below them.
“That is what’s wrong with it.”
If one looked out the window, bits of the sharpener could be seen scattered about against the blank nothingness. There were no panels. This was a whole other area.
“wait what are yo-” he was cut off when she threw the sharpener out the window and with a look of confusion sprawled across the fake elsen’s face. Douglass didn’t see the point to doing that,”that didn’t prove anything, lady” he spoke letting a bit of his true voice show. clearly rather annoyed and still very scared that she threw a sharpener out side trying to prove a point that he didn’t clearly understood. he walked up to the window to see where it landed “my work place was just as white as thi-” he cut himself off as he saw the broken up appliance, the fake elsen gulped and sort of push half of his upper body out to see what more of the view. nothing.. “o-oh… “ he came out of the window and looked back at her “there’s nothing else out there?.. nothing else?”
All of his reactions were entirely expected–she’d been through them before herself.
“Nothing else,” Marlise confirmed. “Don’t bother checking it out down there. You’ll get nothing out of it except temporary blindness.”
For a moment, her blank expressed melted into sympathy.
“I’m really sorry, but everyone has to find out about it at some point. I had to once. And now there’s you.”
“ I screwed up..” the muttered while gulping down the fear and reality that’s in front of him “I should’ve stayed..I fucked up.. I..“ the fake elsen didn’t want to cry in front of the human, but at this point it was hard not to. he’s really worried if making any portals to ‘that place below’ wouldn’t work at this place. he let out a real elsen like wheeze with the smoke to match, clutching his shirt he stared back at the blank void “w-who would make place like this?” asking Marlise in a weak voice.
