i read your ask the other day and im really surprised you said you dont think capcom will canonise leshley ever while we're working with the fact that leon is married.
so you must be having someone else in mind for leon. if you dont mind me asking, who and why? i know you ship him with ada and claire too, but just like on an objective level, do you think they are more likely than ashley?

i understand the surprise. they'll always be my top 1 but i'm also sane. realistic. i'll make content of them for as long as i'm inspired by them, but i also know that ashley is a one-off character (i hope there will be allusions to her in future installments though), plus i'm well aware of how capcom handles their female characters. i mean look at jill-- jill is the OG female MC and yet capcom hasn't gone out of their way to make her play a bigger role in the REngine non-remake games; the closer we'll get to her new design is in death island. so what chance do you think ashley has?
really it's more of a "leshley may never be canon irl but they are canon in my heart idc" hahah also capcom kinda chickened out on the decision where they revealed leon's married but now they're like "who knows aHAH 🤪 what's important is leon has some peace and a place to come home to" and i can live with that. kinda like how squenix will always play with tifa/cloud and aerith/cloud. i can play the games in peace, draw and write unencumbered by canon. it's free real estate babyyyy
i ship leon with claire and ada because they all have their circumstantial chemistry + so much potential to make art and write about (then again leon is shippable with everyone lol he could be shipped with a damn toaster if they share screentime for more than 5 minutes). if i'm to hope on whom he married, it's claire, 'cause they have a much more feasible relationship, even as i acknowledge ada is touted as his love interest. (who as you know, will always be miles cooler than leon)
obvs there's the whole hoolabaloo about the complexities of that relationship but we're not opening that can of worms simply because i've gone over those ad nauseam and one of my pet peeves is having to repeat myself, and there will always be morons with room temp IQ so eager to be offended who will villainize you simply for not shipping their ship 😂😂 the only ada/leon shippers i consider are 2 people who write about them and they: (1) are fully aware that ada is a mercenary and is layered as a character, not an outright villain but morally gray; and (2) have actually played the games. above all, they're nice and don't engage in ship wars.
really i think the meanest opinion i can have about this "leon is married" nonsense is that i have nothing against ada/leon per se but i don't want nice things to happen to those who have harassed, doxxed, minor-larping-in-adult-spaces, threatened-anyone-who-didn't-agree-with-them adaleon shippers.
going back, i want it to be claire 'cause there's already trust between them (if anything leon's the one who failed claire before and caused a rift between them, which didn't get resolved lol) and they work just as well together. plusss there's enough contrast in the paths they've taken in life that they can have refuge in each other whenever they come home.

heyyoow 👋 the way this isn’t the first time i was asked this 😆 i’ve said quite a few times before where i’m from but have decided recently not to give it away much ‘cause i’ve had lowkey racially charged experiences in fandom spaces (not overt and i don’t exactly feel victimized but like.. who likes being condescended upon? lol) (joke’s on them though they will never be as funny as us who have experienced the epic highs and lows of being historically underdogs)
anyway username choice was deliberate (been using it since ~2019 when i was playing pubg though under a slightly different spelling) because we definitely have tapioca here. must be a climate thing, why the root crop thrives. also there are memes of us & brazilians being cousins , so 🤝🤝 hahaah
side bar- i’m so acutely aware of how the internet’s gonna internet that i’m already thinking this might be used as a gotcha moment and i’ll be accused of cultural appropriation or something. good thing i’m not that interesting 😆
