Ivanâs smile would fade. They⊠really didnât remember. They forgot about him, completely⊠and everything heâs done with them. And⊠some stuff he wasnât a part of much⊠almost like everything was just reset.
he would wipe off some of his tears⊠he just realized he was crying and⊠probably being quite annoying. They didnât know him and he was just making a scene over nothing now. At least, nothing to anyone else but him.

âWait,â Frisk piped up, âLook, we donât know whatâs going on. But just because we arenât who you thought we were doesnât mean we canât be friends.â
Kid nodded in agreement.
âYeah. Yo, you wanna play with us? Weâre playing soccer!â
How odd. At first he was certain, certain, they knew him, and then he turned around and changed his mind when it didnât turn out to be so. Something told Chara that he wasnât entirely honest when he changed his mind. Mostly because he called these two out by name. Perhaps if Frisk spent some time with him some more information would surface. MaybeâŠ
Ivan would look back for a moment. Of course he⊠kind of wanted to play. He certainly would play if they could remember him. It really would just be awkward for him⊠not to mention painful. ⊠really painful⊠actually.
âIâŠ. I really donât think i want to stay around right now⊠at least.â
Kidâs face fell a his answer.
âAh... Ok then, dude. See you later,â Kid replied, âYo, come see us if you change your mind, alright?â
âBe safe, ok...?â Frisk added.
So rather than start their friendship anew, he decided to to just walk away. Chara was admittedly disappointed.
This was going to be bugging them for a while.

He knew they wouldnât pull something like this on him. They just werenât the type to do that. Or at least he really doubted itâŠÂ
Did they forget about him?

Just as Frisk had feared, the boy was getting upset about this. They donât remember anything he was describing, though. They couldnât help but feel bad.
âIâm sorry, Ivan⊠None of that is familiar to usâŠâ they responded, their voice soft and apologetic as they offered a hand, âBut hey, itâs ok, we can still be friends. Even if we donât know you, we can still start to know you.â

He would back away from the hand for a moment. While it was coming from a familiar faceâŠÂ
He was keeping some semblance of a smile up though.

Frisk pulled their hand back slowly when Ivan back away, bringing it to their chest instead.

Who was he? HeâŠ. he was their friend of course. Why did they look so confused? Did he not have the ears last time he saw them? That⊠really was a long time ago.
âItâs me, Ivan. The⊠wolf features are a little newâŠâ He would respond, with most of the excitement out of his voice for now. He wasnât disheartened yet though.
Did they really not recognize him with such a minor change? Well⊠Maybe it really wasnât minor, but his face should be mostly the same!
Frisk hesitated. They knew an Ivan, once upon of time, but he was a little older than the boy in front of them, and he was part of a gang of outcasts that took Frisk in before they ended up in the Underground. Not to mention, ignoring the wolf features, he looked nothing like this boy. He was a bronze skinned boy with shaggy dark hair and a scar on his left arm from a knife fight he got in at one point.
They would have told him the honest truth that they didnât know him, but the younger human was afraid of hurting his feelings.
Ivan Ivan Ivan... How odd... This name rang a few bells, but...
The deceased child continued to ponder. While his face and name seemed vaguely familiar, they still couldnât put their finger on why. This was really bugging them.
Kid squinted as they tried to figure out why they should know him. Was he a class mate? No, they definitely would have known. Plus, he seemed older than Frisk. Not so much themself, seeing as Monsters aged slower and therefore had longer life spans. Their point was that he seemed like someone that was old enough to be a grade or two higher than them and the other human.
âSorry, dude. Doesnât ring a bell,â the monster said simply.

Considering Ivan had been recently trying to make up with some old friends, he thought it would be quite appropriate to see some of the ones who, while he had last seen them on good terms, he had still not seen in a while. For now he was visiting Frisk and MK.
He had nearly gotten lost making his way to them, but he was pretty sure he had figured it out now⊠He must have, he was recognizing everything now. He would make a beeline to where Frisk should be. Hearing some noises coming from the back, he thought it might be appropriate to introduce himself back there first.
He would make his way to the back, calling out once he could see either one of the children, and calling out there name followed by a simple âItâs nice to see you again.â
Kid and Frisk were spending after school playing as usual, with Chara just acting as the spectator visible to only Frisk. There was also one more spectator as well, for though none of the children knew that.
They all stopped what they were doing when someone had called two of the three children present by name. They paused to look the boyâs way.
âYo, do you know him...?â Kid mumbled as the older boy came closer.
ââAgainâ...?â The human repeated with their head tilted.
He certainly didnât look familiar. He appeared human, but he had canine ears and tail. Probably canine like teeth too if he so desired to bare them. At least, thatâs what Frisk imagined.
The young monster didnât recognize him either. Which is why they were a little weirded out when this boy called them both by name as if he knew them. And they think theyâd recognize someone like him. He stuck out like a sore thumb. He seemed human, but some aspects reminded them of the dog monsters theyâve always seen patrolling Snowdin back in the Underground.
Chara looked at this newcomer curiously. In all the resets, not even they recognized him. At least not fully. Something about him made them think that they should know him, even if it was through their host. As they floated in their seating position, they rubbed their chin and pondered. Itâs so odd, they prided themself of having practically perfect memory. How could they not know about him...?
âIâm sorry... Who are you, mister...?â Frisk asked slowly, hoping they werenât sounding insensitive.
