November 2023, 5 years and a day (not really but almost), and we are doing a Jikook Japan trip again. Well, not we, lol. They are.

And I have to say this. Cause I just have to say it.

Not seeing them doesn't mean they aren't.

Also, yes, they are going on a 'schedule'. But let's be real for a sec, shall we? This isn't about filming a show. This is about spending time together before enlistment. This is about THEM, not us. We, my friends, are a perfect cover. The much needed deniability. And anyone that thinks otherwise, well, they are kidding themselves. I can also assure you that there will be oh so much they will do that we won't get to see.

I know they will have the best time ever. I know they will. Don't even have to wish them that, cause I just know they will!!!

Book Review: Bad Romance by Heather Demetrios

My toxic relationship is now part of the past. It all ended 10 years ago. Still, I carry toxic parts in me, perhaps I will carry this indefinitely. I guess, because of all that, I am now drawn to stories such as this. Bad Romance tells of Grace’s story.It tells of a rocky home with neglectful and abusive parents, it tells of her spirit and hope, and it tells of her eventual fall and redemption. In her sad and tiring life she meets a boy. A wonderful and charming boy with a soul filled of music and art - at least that is what she initially thought. She fell for him hard and fast. She was in need of love and she thought what he offered was the best she could ever hope for. It wasn’t. He was possesive and abusive. As the story progresses we will see this charming boy slowly control Grace’s life. From the way she dress, how to wear her hair, who she can and cannot interact with, he will control this all. The author did an amazing job of portraying how abuses start with little things. It will start with the clothes one wears, to whom one talks to until one day you will wake up and realize that you cannot decide on anything without him. A time will come when you will stare at a menu and not know what to eat. Everything, as in everything must revolve around him. This book showed that progression in a realistic way. Everything about this book reminded me of my toxic lover. He was Gavin and at the time I was Grace. Eventually, despite it all, Grace taught herself to walk away - the most crucial part of the story. In the end, just like how I did in real life, Grace stood up for herself and finally without looking back left him for good. This book more than anything implores us to look past all the hurt, fear, pain and to love ourself first.

And it case I didn’t make myself clear. I love this book. This book deserves a gazillion stars.

Shards of doubt has made their home in the cavity of my chest. They bring such discomfort. I wallow with inaction, suspended with the hope of an eventual rescue or release. I hope that madness will not set in.

I am 29 years old and who am I in this time of my life? I am Soleil, a wife, sister, daughter, granddaughter, and mother of cats. Also, a pescatarian slowly converting to veganism, an animal advocate, a woman trying her darnest to be emphatetic and compassionate. A girl addicted to the fiction world whether it be in a book, manga, movie or korean drama form. A woman who dreams of a future with a cat island filled with happy and healthy cats. Someone who wants to love and be in a lot of adventures with her husband. Who can be depressed and broken by the world’s indifference to other earthlings. Who wants to finally get her butt off and work on her writing. I’ve been so many characters. Some fake. Some earnestly genuine. In my 29th year in this world, who do I want to be? What kind of person should I embody?

Evil exist in this world because there are indifferent individuals who let it thrive. I do not want to be like them. I do not want to see cruelty inflicted on animals anymore.

I am human. Yet, there are times(quite a lot of times) that I can’t help but hate us. I really do not understand. Why do we only treat our own life as the only valuable kind? While we treat the life of other more deserving creatures (more so than us) without any sort of respect. As if only us humans has the sole right on this planet. Everyday I see an animal killed for fur, ornaments, or for some sadistic pleasure. Left and right animal activists and groups condemns such barbaric practices. Yet it continues. So many animals killed not for our nourishment but for our pleasure. We are such a hedonistic race. We are selfish. We have no respect. We are cancer cells that destroys everything in our path, even the very planet that gives us life, we destroy with aplomb and conviction.

I pity the other poor creatures that has the misfortune of having us as neighbors. I pity and cry with them.

There are words to describe how piss I am. At the moment I cannot find them though. All I know is, there is an ugly, festering liquid under my skin. Seriously, why are we even together? When you cannot even understand such simple logic? When you equate me to a shrew of the highest order for giving you grief for talking to some other girl at odd times of the night? Dare you touch me? Dare you laugh at me? As if you just did not insult my being? Seriously.

Currently in the ER since 1:00 am due to a severe asthma attack, my mind as blank as can be are remembering moments with him. It is not a particularly happy experience. I have long burried it. I do not know why tis suddenly showing itself in my consciousness.

Writing and all that jazz

It is clear to me as it has been back when I was just a high school student that writing is my therapy - who would have thought that I already have wisdom back then? Not having the energy and time to write leads to depression. So really, the priority right now is to write, write and write. I will not concern myself, at least not yet, whether what I am writing is good enough. I will not compare myself with my contemporaries and think that I suck compared to them. I will stop thinking that maybe I am not creative enough. I am my own person/writer - as the case may be, and I have my own journey. As Jay is fond of saying, I must trust my own struggles. The plan is to write whatever makes me happy and to start from there. Other trivialties apart from that does not matter.

The anatomy of a coffee date

The nutty aroma transports me to the time, of such blissful first date, which was so perfect, with bittersweet coffee, to intoxicate our nervous energy. As the coffee flows, so do your words like poetry came to fill me, with fluffy sensations, that made me believe in the infinity of it all. Alas, it was meant to last, until only the final drop, and when your drink turned cold, in one great gulp, you ended it all.

The aftermath of a call

In a movie house, sitting with my girl entertained by a brainless, popular movie to date, when my phone vibrates, with a stranger's number, unwelcome in such setting, I ignored it with much haste. Yet, the caller, with such nerve, persisted, until finally, I answered. The caller, not much of a stranger, as I discovered, her voice distraught delivered some news, that made my blood turn cold. Now i am left wishing that I followed my instinct, hoping that I never heard such news that shatter the soul.
