“You wanted me?” Aaliyah asks, her voice vulnerable.

“From that day you pulled me into the cold ocean and wouldn’t stop touching me on this same beach, even if your friends were with us.”

“But that night? In New York? You wanted everything we did? Everything I did?” Aaliyah asks in that same sad tone that Bobby finds heart breaking. “Because you didn’t in Mallorca.”

“I have never wanted anyone or anything as much as I wanted you. Saying no to you in Mallorca was the hardest thing I ever had to do and that’s fucking saying something.” Cruz sighs. ”If I could, I would live in those few hours we had in New York.”

Constantly thinking about how Aaliyah would never lay a finger on Cruz with the intention of hurting her, so consciously aware of the abuse she experienced before they met. She’d kiss the bruises, trace the scars, ask before touching Cruz in a new way, look her in the eye to find any sign of discomfort. And Cruz would slowly let her in, telling her about her mother’s and Edgar’s abuse, her brother’s death, the horrors of being a marine. Together they’d create a safe space to feel all the trauma and horrors of the past and try to heal from it together, something Cruz has never had before.

A Cruz x Aaliyah prompt for anyone who is interested: during the spa, Cruz says something along the lines of she’s “weird with people” touching her. It’d be great to see (maybe an au where Cruz comes clean, doesn’t kill Aaliyah’s father or Ehsan, and they escape before the wedding) the progression of her becoming more comfortable with Aaliyah’s touch (non-sexual and sexual alike) as she accepts the love behind it rather than the malice and hurt she’s been subjected to in the past.

Okay but just to come back to this for a brief second. I wanna see how Cruz goes from small flinches when Aaliyah touches her unexpectedly to unknowingly seeking out physical contact; to trying to communicate with Aaliyah what she wants and needs even though she’s never had a safe space or person in which to ask, or even the words to do so; to being the one to initiate physical contact in the moments she’s panicking or triggered.

Because I think Cruz is touch starved but once she realises the love, the care, the kindness, the thoughtfulness that Aaliyah can give her through touch? That’s something she realises she never wants to go without.

I wanna see how they communicate throughout the whole process, how Aaliyah realised that this tough stoic marine is so absolutely vulnerable and was able to slowly break down the walls Cruz has built up to show her how beautiful love can be.
