following samblr conversation about a couple tweets, i find it so interesting how doubly layered the fallacy of the dichotomy of monstrosity is. like they need to enact violence upon an othered being to ensure safety but that violence is also justified by the fact that they're an othered being. thinking of 5.14 when in response to dean's inability to deal with hurting sam to 'keep him human', cas tells him that it's, "not really [sam]." sam was put there because he's sam in the first place—he's there because he's the sam that needs saving just as much as the unnecessarily violent avenue being used to get there that is simultaneously being portrayed as a horrible thing for dean to experience any kind of proximity to which should be sympathised with is a necessary punishment with which to react to monstrosity with. the violence IS the process rather than/in addition to the eradication itself
i think we don't acknowledge that s.e. hinton is basically a self described sam girl quite enough

unu jus love gwan wid di fuckry. what does that have to do with anything i said. im talking about dean's perception of sam and what that has to do with his self-loathing
dean to sam unprompted: if i were to kill myself id go out the ol'fashioned way with my gun. not doing any of that pansy slitting my wrists bullcrap. when you were younger i was so sure id come back with dad to find you doing some dumbass shit like that, the way you acted
Spreading Disaster - Jacob Clifton
not intending to yuck anyone's yum, do whatever you want forever, but i think the frequency that which moments between dean and not-sam garner popularity for/within wincest is worthy of critique. as in, why is it so appealing to see a proxy-sam (for example—meg!sam, soulless!sam, jared all tagged and interacted with as sam winchester and samndean) acting in a particular way, entirely different and often completely opposite to/from actual sam, with dean to produce the same type of interaction over and over. why is it so necessary for sam to be so drastically changed in order to produce what appeals to you the most about wincest

Thinking about the differences between Sam between S3/4 driving the Impala and modifying it (iPod jack) to suit his own needs, Soulless Sam between S5/6 having his own car which he prefers, and post finale Sam having the Impala but it's implied he never (or very rarely) drives it...
Also important to note that Sam is chastised/punished for both the iPod Jack and Soulless' own car, as a representation of the broader narrative punishment for their respective attempts at enacting agency. Meanwhile post-finale Sam's keeping of the Impala as a sacred object not to be used (whilst Dean actively drives a recreation of the car around heaven) is valorised as an appropriate expression of grief.
