Fun Facts
Hafiz is the sorrowfully forgotten middle sibling to Aslan and Miray.
She has her master’s degree in International Trade and Business from the Boğaziçi University in Istanbul.
She was accepted into Oxford University but declined to stay close to her father. Her decision ran solely on her seeking to gain his approval.
Can speak six languages fluently: french, spanish, italian, english, arabic, and turkish (obvs)
Hafiz dreamed of backpacking through Europe to escape the oppressive isolation that she felt within her own family.
Has a small butterfly tattoo along her ribcage. She got it after too many flutes of champagne on a trip to London.
She has always had a love and affinity for painting. Hafiz worked on it to calm her thoughts and to quell her loneliness. Her father didn’t think it would be a suitable career for his daughter so she couldn’t pursue it in college. It didn’t stop her from taking a few classes every semester to keep her skills sharp.
Hafiz loves to garden. She feels like she can full express herself to her beautifully blossoming buds.
She is affectionate to those she trusts and often pushes people away because she can’t deal with another person abandoning her. She fears that she will never be the one who is chosen to be cherished and loved but rather by obligation.
Hafiz enjoys k-dramas and the occasional American reality show like the Bachelor. Although, she’d like to take that secret with her to the grave.
She is a hopeless romantic but completely sickened to death by public affection. She covets the mystic of the chase and expressing love within the confines of her perfectly constructed castle.
Hafiz owns an secret apartment where she often slips away to and lies about her worldly travels just to be left alone.
"I don't think I can top my personal records for midnight kisses this year. I fear that I've become a reformed woman.." hafiz couldn't help but laugh at the thought. Life seemed so much explosive last year.
"Could I please bum a cigarette? Last one of the year and everything." She paused before giving a light laugh. "Or perhaps of my life if I pick my resolutions well tonight." ( @hshqstarters )
"you can bum one from me. i have to get rid of this pack by midnight." she held out the case with a lighter, "my resolution is to stop doing things that make my esthetician sign heavily."
"What's a goodbye cigarette without champagne?" Hafiz plucked four flutes of the crisp bubbly from a by passing waiter with a wink. "You're too pretty for stress winkles. Gwenie, what's yours? Mine is to protect my peace and terrorize others...kidding." @fannicroy
Her words pass almost unnoticed by the prince, who focused on keeping Asami's secure in his arms, cradling the tiny bundle with tenderness while fingers, gentle and delicate, support the baby's head, and the other hand rested securely around her back. " –––– I'm always right, " a smile dared to grab the corner of his lips, widening with the simple feeling of her fingers brushing against his. "It's easier to pop back in when I know you are close by, and things seem a lot more... calm now."
It was crazy to see how quickly the seasons of life changed before your eyes. Who would have thought they would be here, a semi stable valley, cooing over the bright eyed little girl tethered between them. Her daughter. Hafiz still hadn't wrapped her head around being a mother let alone that she ever lived a life where Asami wasn't there. It seemed those lonely days had all but set on the horizon. "Even a broken clock is right twice a day," she counted with a dimpled grin. "Calm enough for you to just stay?"
''I didn't expect to see so much flesh in this spa," she snickered softly into the curve of her palm. she peered back at Ana through the slits of her fingers. "I'm not one for modesty but that was a lot for 10am." @anamariaabolivar
"i don't think i've ever been calm and collected," aslan replied with a sheepish smile, sounding about 15. he didn't quite laugh, mostly because if he tried to smile any wider his face hurt. "That was about football and you know it. that's what should do. him and stupid friend and mine in a football match." aslan didn't take the ice from her, didn't curl into himself and away from her. he just let hafiz care for him. from this angle, brown eyes full of concern and care, she looked like their mother. "that doesn't make me feel better. her seething rage is scary. barbara is a good friend of her's. long before me." he chuckled, "well, i doubt she's used to being told the truth so starkly. you stood up for yourself. i'm proud of you."
"I don't know you've changed lately," her words laced with an unkempt volume of sincerity. "Layla brought you peace. It's written all over your face," and he finally deserved it. All of the malice that used to tether to the salted earth had all but vanished and she could paint the portrait of the hero she had once created in her mind. Hafiz fanned her free hand in the closed space to shoo away his nonsense. "It was about football, bad weather on a beach day, a scuffed shoe, and anytime anyone mentioned how you looked like father when you were brooding. Remember that one time when that stuffy little tart of a tutor took up an attitude with Miray? You told her just how little she was worth and she quit." Hafiz couldn't help but laugh at how his face used to get so red and blotchy; traces of that rosy warmth still colored his skin today. Hafiz adjusted the scarf to ensure that the ice never met his skin. "I'll save us both the trouble and say it was my fault to begin with. I can't have her being angry at you while pregnant with Nuray in earshot. We want to paint the illusion that you two never fight." Her cheeks flushed with pride being on the receiving end of some brotherly praise. "We don't let people trample on us without biting back. I've still got a lot bite left me in, don't worry about that."
" –––– where's the most beautiful little girl, " mouth corners curving upwards when he benches to spy inside the stroller, carefully picking her up into his arms. "here she is," azure hues focus on her before a glimpse of her mother. @oh-hxfiz
"You know I'd be otherwise offended by that comment not being directed at me but you are right." Hafiz watched in awe at how quickly Gabriel softened before her eyes. He had the most natural aura about him whenever he was prompted to go into uncle mode. Her hand smoothed the back of Asami's jumper, fingers brushing against biel's hand with a softer smile. "If you keep coming back, I'm going force you stay. I'm growing incredibly bored without you."
" the crown princess of brazil and a british duke seem like an odd combination, no ? is he planning to leave the isles, do you happen to know ? " [ ;; @hshqstarters ]
"You're too cynical," she uttered affectionally. Hafiz reached out to fix his askew pocket square. "They'll figure it out once the love settles. I thought the beautiful sight would invoke the lovely feeling in us all."
hafiz was fussing over him, and aslan was letting her. perhaps he should have been thinking barbie and her husband, this never would have happened otherwise. "he started it, hafiz, really. i would have finished it but those damn guards..." aslan trailed off, watching her ruin a silk scarf to make an pack for him. he shut his mouth with a click. "i know you're right. do you think she's really pissed at me or overwhelmed by all of it?" it was layla so probably both. he relaxed back into his seat and the moment his sister asked the question he smiled. "yeah, i felt really fucking good."
The winding change in their relationship would have surely shake the foundation of the younger, embittered version of herself. Hafiz yearned for this closeness and after so many moons, she finally got a taste of what it was like to worry about him so openly. To care for her brother as if it were as simple as breathing. "I'm sure he did but you didn't have to engage with his childish behavior. What happened to the calm and collected husband and father? For a moment there, I saw the former lion of Ankara.." the thought invoked a soft giggle. Aslan, much like the rest of their family, had a vicious temper. She had seen him unleash it at any given moment for Miray and just this once he allowed that fury to appear to defend her. It was nice. Hafiz gingerly held the ice to his cheek. "Knowing Layla she's probably flustered by it until it'll cool into a seething rage. Pregnancy hormones, you know." She held for a beat before sharing in his joy. "Good. It was about time someone stuck it to them. You should have seen Barbara's face when I told her the truth no one else had the guts to say. I have never seen her walk away so quickly."
The night had been spent in entertaining conversation with nobles and old friends, a strategic distraction from the mounting anxiety of the upcoming gathering for his cousin's coronation. As he mingled, Gabriel couldn't help but overhear the hushed whispers that permeated the room. Perhaps, he mused, they should have opted for a simpler affair. However, such simplicity was not the Savoias' way.
Amid the opulence, Gabriel's attention was suddenly diverted to an absurd scene unfolding at the periphery of his vision. Swiftly, he excused himself from the conversation, his steps determined as he made his way out of the room. Catching up with the Turkish princess, he gently took her arm and led her into one of the palace's dimly lit corridors.
Concern etched across his face. "What happened? Are you okay?"
Hafiz stopped wondered when life would return to whatever measure of normal it had formally been. The flood gates had opened and drowned out whatever was left behind. Barbara's lack of empathy served force fed her with fury; wasn't someone supposed to be accountable for the lack of urgency from the Italians? Her scoff swallowed by an embittered laughter at the lame insult she chose to fling at her. If there was one truth that Hafiz held onto, as an anchor, was her fathers eternal loyalty to nothing but power. If it didn't serve him, he'd dismiss it just like his children.
Wrapped up in her own thoughts, she barely noticed the sinewy figure that appeared from the corridor and whisked her into one of the rooms. Hafiz's body stiffened until the fear stilled at her realization; the figure was more than just a shadow but someone who she held so dear to her heart. "I'm okay," she tapped his chin softly to rid him of the concern. "I just got into an exchange of words with your sister and my brother with Andres."
"i'm fine," his temperature wasn't the concern, it was the blooming black eye. though he wasn't looking forward to the ice pack to the face. he was waiting for hafiz to snap at him, the limo was on the road now, there was no one else around. "i shouldn't have done that, should i?" @oh-hxfiz
"Shush," she hushed the big baby that sat across from her. Her own fingers fanned across her forehead while the other laid gingerly along his. He seemed a little sweaty but it may have been from the way he rolled around the ground like some ruffian. The display was both embarrassing and touching at the same time. Was this what it felt like to have your brother defend you on the playground? Nevertheless, he deserved the verbal licking that tickled her tongue once she had sent Layla off. The stress wasn't good for her. "You shouldn't have done that," she parroted. "Even if you two have a century long's worth of bad blood, you have to be the bigger man. The stress isn't good for your wife and the optics won't look great as we climb close to day you can claim your birthright." She eased herself back into the leather seat with a slow emerging smile hidden from view. She begun to unfurl the silk scarf from her neck to pack the ice from the miniature ice box; it's a shame the dom perignon will have to warm for the sake of his eye. . "..but it felt good didn't it?"
"not with your head in the flowers this time?", he asked, approaching hafiz from behind and taking a halt a few feet away, "but hopefully with your head held high the whole evening, because you look gorgeous tonight."
"I decided to venture out into the real world for a moment," which was a mistake. "..but it seems you still seem in search of the beautiful things. Thankfully, you've come to the right woman." Hafiz politely bowed her head out of respect before flashing a brilliant smile. "Thank you for noticing and I must say you clean up very nicely. Before you know it, there will be a line, just beyond those doors, of woman begging for your attention."
he'd shown up, that was more than enough, as far as aslan was concerned. if it was any less than a coronation, he wouldn't have. "i agree. i think we can make our excuses. maybe take the plane back to casablanca tonight." @laylabahiti
"we do not need excuses; we made an appearance and now we are leaving for the night." layla hadn't planned on attending until hafiz decided to, knowing someone should be in her corner for support. "i have yet to see an event in italy end happily, so we should go while we are ahead." @oh-hxfiz
With the combined strength of her family, a term she used to scoff at, and her incorrigible stubborn streak was what brought her here. She didn't care if anyone questioned their disappearance. Wasn't the act of showing up a sign of their grace in the face of such gross disrespect? "It just kills me to know that they can live happily and rejoice after everything that happened. I got no peace and I'd love to ruin theirs but today isn't the day for that, right?" Hafiz slinked closer to Layla, her head perched on her shoulder. "I may have to wrangle my bunkmate from his rousing conversations or leave him here. Nevertheless, I'm ready to curl up with our kids and obsess over your wife." @vslvano
