Does anyone care? Who knows, we'll see I guess. I'm working on a Rise Donnie cosplay and I want more opinions on the pants, so here's a poll!!
Donnie Cosplay Pants?
Long Black Pants
Green Shorts (I know the picture's dull, I promise they are green)
Pros of the pants: They fit my vision for the vibes better, I don't have to worry about accessories below the belt, I already know they're comfortable to wear for long periods of time and in hot environments.
Cons of the pants: I'll have to repair the worn-out thighs which might make them less comfortable, they cover up fun accessories.
Pros of the shorts: I get to do knee pads and thigh markings which are cool and fun, also shows off the boots better, incorporates more green into the design.
Cons of the shorts: I have to do some heavy alterations to the shorts, changes the vibes of the outfit, I have no idea how comfortable they'll be while walking around a bunch.
As for the rest of the design, I went thrifting today and found a tank top to use (I'm still debating on painting on the plastron lines, so let me know if you have opinions about that too) and a purple flat sheet to use to make the covers for my elbow and knee pads, gloves, and the belt pouches. I also found a black mesh backpack that I'm going to line in purple and that's going to be my battle shell. I'm also trying to figure out how to do goggles. I have a pair of headphones that I'm thinking of adding goggle attachments to, but I'm not quite sure how I'd pull that off. I'm also not sure about committing to wearing headphones all day (I'm going to a convention), so we'll see. It also depends on the headband/bandana/mask situation, but I haven't made that decision either. I did also buy some sick ass boots to wear that are not combat boots, but the vibes are similar enough that I'm happy. I've kind of given up on his arm brace/screen thing, just because I can't think of a way to do it that won't look flat or janky. Plus I want plenty of room for the fingerless gloves.
For Halloween a couple of years ago I was Othello von Ryan, so I've got a tech bo already. I also had some covers for my knee pads, but I don't have enough of that fabric left over to make the rest of the equipment to reuse them. (I made his big hoodie, since I couldn't find one to buy, and I still use it a bunch cause it's giant and very comfy) And I didn't bother with the goggles, so those'll be from scratch.
I'm very excited, perhaps too excited, but oh well. I'm not sure how many days we'll be going to the convention, but my other/backup ideas are my Tim Drake Halloween costume from last year (it's not Robin, it's based on a specific outfit he wore one time in the comics that I thought was cool) and my Wolverine fit (which is just a white tank top, jeans, and his fuckass hair). I'm so hyped, you guys, I haven't been to a convention in years, it's gonna be so awesome!!!!!
