Russia declared war and started bombing Ukraine two days ago. i am nowhere near it but to think that at one end of the world there's a war happening where people are scared for their safety and that at the other end there's me scared about my exams and getting into college and not being able to meet whoever i want to meet and everything makes me feel helpless and stupid. but what makes it more difficult to conceive is the fact that that is not the only war being fought in the world. there are many countries that have been bombed over the past few days, Syria and Palestine to name a few, and no one is doing anything to help them. if there was some profit involved in helping these people out i can't help but think that they have a higher chance of getting help. the world is a cruel place and everyone admits it but very few think that it needs changing. and i suppose capitalist ideology is to account for that. i see capitalism everywhere - i just can't unsee it now. sometimes i even wish i didn't know or didn't care about it. a selfish wish. one that i don't really want but i also can't help but wish for. a wish that i don't wish to be fulfilled. i think we all make a lot of those kinds of wishes. it's an interesting paradox if you think about it.
