Be that penguin
as you get older, you start realizing that you are not always right and there’s a lot of things you could have handled better and many situations where you could have been kinder and all you can really do is forgive yourself and let your mistakes make you a better person.
Very biased life advice: let people help you. We act like independence is the highest form of strength, but refusing help is just another form of control. When you let people help up for you, you’re giving them an opportunity to feel useful & capable. Helping someone activates purpose. It builds trust. It makes people feel valued, confident, appreciated. Constantly saying “I’ve got it” blocks intimacy. You don’t have to struggle alone to prove anything, stop that. Letting people help you is a gift you’re allowing them to give
Bitch go read a book (me to me)
good morning world who’s ready for another day of feeling slightly nauseous and weird about everything
—Mary Oliver, "The Gardener"
Whenever you try something new and it doesn't go well, you are not failing, my love. You might feel like you are, but you are not. Other people look at you and see you trying and are unbelievably proud of you. Sometimes it doesn't matter how something goes for the first time, what maters is that you showed up and tried. The second time you'll already be able to grow from the lessons you've learned. It will get easier. It will get better. But please never judge yourself for how you did the first time. Instead, be proud of yourself for having the courage to try something new. You're truly inspiring.

In your 20s, you'll feel like you're losing the race. It's important to understand that there is no race.
Not even against yourself.
At all.
Warsan Shire, from "Extreme Girlhood", Bless the Daughter Raised by a Voice in Her Head
If you ever find yourself fixated in the potential in someone else, remember that what you’re seeing is simply a reflection of the untapped potential in you✨
someone told me that when they feel nervous about doing something & their heart starts beating really fast, that they call it their "inner applause" because their body is cheering them on, and i think that's the sweetest narrative adjustment ever.
