"Ego freedom" might be a more appropriate goal than "ego loss": the ego is our particular lens for perceiving reality, therefore the loss of it would be devastating. However, if we could attain freedom from the ego, we could act out of a holistic awareness of our particular perspective in relation to larger social and evolutionary processes.
