@askrustynail is currently in a coma. This account is meant to be a central location where you can submit things for him, leave messages, tag in this account and we will reblog it, etc. @technomod will read them to him and it will be here for when he wakes up so he can read these in person as well when recovering. I will take the hopeful angle at this. I don’t know the details yet, and it will be up to @technomod to share if she so chooses. This is hard for her, and Rusty’s family beyond what I can imagine. Right now, even the smallest well-wishes are valued immensely.

@technomod will be handed the password to this account when she is settled in Ohio and will be able to convey and read the messages you leave for Rusty to him.

If you have any music or audio you think he might enjoy, feel free to suggest it.

If you want to draw him something, submit it and it will be described to him.

If there are any updates, it will be up to tech to post them, of course, all with discretion for Rusty’s privacy.

In short, feel free to:

Hey there everypony! Been a minnit, hasn't it? Cap'n Berreh here to spread the word. We're havin' a meetup! You asked for them to return, and I was like "eh why not?" So here we are.

Many many moons ago a group of intrepid Ohio Bronies met up in Cleveland at Edgewater Park for a nice cookout. I decided, why not do that again? Then I heard that Edgewater is like under heavy construction / renovation or something. Go figure. So I decided to do it at the east side's equivalent. Wildwood! It's a little smaller, but there's a couple shelters with grills and such and honestly it's generally far less crowded. Back when I lived literally in that neighborhood it was a place we'd go to chill and relax all the time. Nature, the lake, peace... It's rather nice.

We're also planning on bringing back ye olde fanfic speedwrite competition! Some of you may have heard tale of (or even remember being there for) the infamous spiral fic. I think there might be a video floating around somewhere of us trying to read the thing. Many words crammed in progressively smaller text around a paper plate. Good times!

Let's make more good times.

Wildwood Park is located behind the Memorial-Nottingham Branch of the Cleveland Public Library, 17109 Lakeshore Blvd, Cleveland, OH 44110.

Take Villa Angela Dr basically until it ends and find a parking space. We'll be using the Wildwood Shelter, unless it happens to already be in use; the backup will be the Euclid Beach Shelter.

Confused? Have a map:

Follow the yellow highlighter road from I-90. Red is Wildwood Shelter, blue is Euclid Beach Shelter (which we'll only fall back to if Wildwood is in use).

Both shelters are covered, so we should be able to do this rain or shine. Planning on just going 'til everyone gets bored or tired; if we decide we wanna split a hotel for the night and marathon some pones or w/e we'll discuss options at the meet.

Today we got a bunch of character designs revealed for this year’s movie. While the designs ranged from CRAAAAAAAWLING to qt, one in particular touched a nerve in the fandom: Taye Diggs’ character, an anthropomorphic cat named “Capper.”

Almost immediately, the fandom jumped on this seemingly out-of-place addition to the franchise. Worrying that it would just make it look even more appealing to furries, some already claimed that the movie was “ruined forever” when combined with the two edgy characters. Others pointed out some similar characters in fiction:

And then Hasbro got sued 

 Some have pointed out that a cat species existed in G1, with characters like Katrina. However, this did not quiet concerns of an ill-fitting species into the movie, or attracting furries. Given February’s tendency to continuously erupt in drama, we can only guess what will come next.

M.A Larson wasted no time in letting CapperGeneral know, and his response was pretty much what anyone in his position would make.

And here we have a bunch of other actors and characters that are due to be in the movie. Make of these what you will, and fire up those fanfictions and doomsday prophecies, because it’s happening!

Sound the “Slow Death of the Fandom” alarms, we’ve received an email suggesting that BronyCon is no longer a Pony Convention, at least not in the conventional sense. This Email, forwarded to us by an ex-staff member on the condition of Anonymity, confirms that the largest pony convention is no longer pony-exclusive. They plan on becoming a “Geek Culture Convention” and this year may be diluted by Pokemon and gaming. We’ve included the contents of the Email below.

What does this say for the state of the fandom? What does it mean for the future of conventions? How will Bronycon be much different from other general pop-culture conventions that have pony events and guests?

The email reads as follows:

“TL;DR: This year, BronyCon will include other properties, but My Little Pony’s still our main focus. It’s a brave new world for all of us! This year, BronyCon is expanding in some exciting new directions. We want to get everyone on board as soon as possible so we can all get to work on taking these new elements and making them first-class parts of the awesomeness that is BronyCon. However, please remember that this is a sneak peek for BronyCon staff only, so don’t tell anyone outside of staff about this until we announce it to the world. For the last few years we’ve watched our attendees bring interests outside of My Little Pony to BronyCon through their music, cosplay, panel submissions, and merchandise. In order to keep up with those growing interests, and to bring new fans into our community, the Convention Committee got together to brainstorm ideas for the future of the convention. Taking those ideas as inspiration, we created a new vision for BronyCon as "a geek culture convention celebrating media that transcends generation and brings people together.” So, what does this actually mean for BronyCon? Well, for starters, pony isn’t going anywhere —  we can’t have BronyCon without ponies! But it does mean that we’ll be dipping our toes into new waters and seeing what things make good complements for My Little Pony. We built BronyCon around My Little Pony because it’s a show that unites people from of different walks of life, so whatever we choose to bring in needs to express those same values. For this year, we’ve decided to introduce Pokémon and have an expanded focus on tabletop and video games.“
