welcome to this little introduction about myself! i could have done this years ago but i thought now it was a good time lol.

my name's ro (as you may know)

i'm a 21 y.o. uni student from spain (at least i try to be a uni student)

i have loved musical theatre since i was a kid, and les mis has always been a favorite. basically, i'm obsessed.

i try to write sometimes (even though i am not very good at it) here is my masterlist if you want to check it out!

my review of epic: the musical by jorge rivera-herrans | part 2: the cyclops saga

as always, this is my personal opinion, any other opinions are valid. english is not my first language, sorry if there are any grammar or spelling mistakes.

without further ado, let's begin!

the cyclops saga: this chapter involves one of the most popular episodes in the odyssey, polyphemus's attack. at the end of the chapter, athena abandons odysseus for being 'just a man'. now, let's review the songs.

polyphemus: this one is my least favourite of this chapter BUT i still like it. odysseus's crew kill polyphemus's favourite sheep without knowing and he, obviously, gets angry. odysseus then tries to bargain with the cyclops so he doesn't kill his crew. i gotta say the VOCALS on this song are amazing. i swear my brain tingles everytime i listen to jorge's "my name is nobody, nobody". AAAAAA. it makes me go feral. it is a good song. overall, 7/10. survive: in this song, odysseus and his crew battle against the cyclops. the chorus makes me shiver everytime i hear it. and also the second verse (i think???), when it says "surround him", and the soldiers repeat it. OOF, SO GOOD. the ending is a bit sad because you know, death, but it is a very good song. 7.5/10. remember them: GREAT SONG. the beginning sends shivers down my spine. and the first time the music stops and odysseus says "remember them". WOW. i don't know why but this song gives me hamilton vibes???? the vocals and everything are so good, it is so catchy and i love the music so much. 8/10. my goodbye: i may be a little biased by this one because teagan earley's voice makes me wanna scream into the void. her VOCALS????? HELP. athena's character is one of my favourites so, of course, this one is my favourite song in the cyclops saga. any duet athena and odysseus sing is good, i don't make the rules. the difference between their choruses is so good, showing both their points of view. i just LOVE this song so much. also, at the end when the ensemble sings "just a man". WOW. and another thing, when odysseus sings "since you claim you're so much wiser / why's your life spent all alone / you're alone!". AMAZING DELIVERY. overall, this song, 8.5/10.

i forgot to read yesterday's chapter but i read 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 today and i just gotta say that i want bishop myriel to be the priest in my church

so my church did yesterday a watch party of an special episode of the chosen and i went. i thought it was a very cute tv show so i started it this morning.

anyways i'm obsessed with it now and i love andrew more than anything. i almost finished season 1 (you will probably have a review soon)

my review of epic: the musical by jorge rivera-herrans | part one: the troy saga

because i cannot be normal about anything these days.

so i found out about this a while ago, but i hadn't heard it UNTIL yesterday because my greek mythology era came back (or never left, let's be honest here). i divided this into different parts because i noticed that i had a lot to say and it was going to be a very long post lol.

here are all my thoughts on epic: the musical. as always, english is not my first language, so sorry if there are any grammar mistakes. also as always, this is my personal opinion, any other opinion is valid!

without further ado, let's begin!

the troy saga: okay so the first chapter is the troy saga, that is the starting point of the musical. basically, this chapter follows odysseus as he battles in the trojan war (with the horse and everything) and he and his men sail back to ithaca. now, let's review the songs.

the horse and the infant: this is the opening song of the chapter and of the musical. can i just say WOW???? in my opinion, it is a great way to start it. this song takes place during the battle of troy and it serves as a sneek peek of odysseus' character. the chorus made me shiver the first time i heard it and the way he sings "penelope, telemachus" made me scream, cry, and throw up. also everyone's voices were so amazing and made me want to join that cast so bad. just a man: this song is so beautiful. i cried during this while writing a paper for college. this song is about odysseus wanting to get home, reflecting on the lives he has taken and the price he may have to pay for it. jorge's voice in this is ANGELICAL, and i feel like it is one of the best songs in the whole musical. full speed ahead: this song is so energetic and full of power. it is about the journey of odysseus and his men and the need for food for 600 men. i must say that it is my least favourite on the chapter, but that doesn't mean that it is a bad one, on the contrary. armando julian as eurylochus made me scream throughout the whole musical, his voice is so powerful and amazing. open arms: this song might be my favourite on this chapter. this one takes place on the island of the lotus eaters, and polites shows odysseus that he can trust the people around him. steven dookie's voice is so soothing and calm, it made me relax while doing homework. i feel like it is such a beautiful song and it really shows the friendship between odysseus and polites. warrior of the mind: this song was the one that made me look more into this musical. i heard it on tiktok a while ago or so, and it made me curious about it. the song is the last one in this chapter, and it follows athena, reminding odysseus that he has to follow her teachings. i LOVED this song the first time i heard it, and i feel like it is so addictive and fun to listen to. teagan earley's voice is to die for, and the lyrics and melody are so catchy. definitely one of my favorites in the whole album.
