(CONTEXT: i got fully decked into a tree from 120 yards away thanks to someone and am now bleeding out and probably have more injuries! @thebelltollsforyou is taking me to the hospital (don't ask?), and we have now designated this as an RP chain because it is funny. also also: this is humanoid jar (yay!))

It's oddly quiet from Jar on the way to the hospital. Probably because they're focused on, oh I don't know, not dying? They ARE sorta. bleeding out. Kinda bad. Though they do ask ONE question.

"... remind me who you are? I uh.. vaguely remember you, but not by much, hah..."

... WOW it's awkward.

Nameless is rocking back and forth on its feet while some sort of.. ambulance-like vehicle drives along. It seemed to have just conjured this up, so best to not question it.

At the sudden question, it glances at Jar, flashing a mischievous grin.

"They call me Nameless, honey. You may have heard of me from my little.. mhheh.. incidents." It leaned a bit closer, fangs glinting in dim light.

"Hm. Fun name... having no name at all. Narrative decisions at their finest."

Blood keeps dripping from their mouth. They just wipe it away, despite its persistence to continue leaking out.

Drip. Drip. Drip. A bit of it gets on the floor.

Drip. Drip. Drip. It stains his hoodie, landing directly on the star.

"... I have to get this cleaned now..."

Nameless is quickly irritated by the slow, steady drip. It conjures up a handkerchief, decides against it, conjures a.. something. Something unidentifiable and constantly shifting, then whisks both away.

It stares at Jar, suddenly lifting a claw to wipe a few drops of blood that just dripped. It held eye contact as it sucked the blood off its finger tip, far too interested in this. "Sad. Also, it isn't no name, it's that my name is Nameless. Like the word nameless."

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

They look at the blood gathered at the floor, then move their hand away from their mouth. They spit out a bit more, but it's certainly less now.

"Hm. Still kinda ironic. Being named 'Nameless'... parents not like you or something? Heh."

They stare it down for a second or two with an.. odd expression? Part smile, part intrigue- it's hard to tell, really.

Then, they just.. lay back. Stare at the roof of the vehicle and just hum. They hum until they get interrupted.

"I don't have parents."

Nameless deadpanned, eyeing up every feature that it could. Its eyes were half-lidded, full of intent. It had to hold itself back- despite everything it lived for, this was an injured individual. One that didn't cower in fear immediately.

"Name kinda came from a whole thing with this red bitch.. A sort of enemy that I had. I had to make a quick decision, and Nameless seemed ominous enough. I think it fits me."

"Ah, yes, red bitches, the worst kind. I vaguely remember someone red fucking my life up too!"

"... No fuck, they were grey. Nevermind, forget that."

They sit up, clearly deciding that the ceiling was too boring. They stare at Nameless, then at the window, then the wall after realizing that THERE ARE NO WINDOWS, then back at Nameless.

"Ya know. You look like someone who kills people, if I'll be honest. For sport, too. Though it'd be too personal if I asked you, so I'm making a statement instead, which leaves it open-ended enough for you to chime in if you so wish. The exact thing I taught myself to do over the past however long I've been alive."

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

"Pff-"

Nameless suddenly hunches over partially, letting out a genuine laugh. Something no one would expect unless it was covered in someone's blood, or something like that.

"I do. I torture for sport, kill for sport.. I once burnt someone alive, and made someone hallucinate to near insanity!"

It suddenly reached out, oh so carefully grasping their chin to bring their gaze back over. "But I wouldn't do that to you."

Then it let go, immediately flexing its fingers. "Not yet, anyways!"

"Welp! Good to know I'm safe for now, I guess! Kinda insane how I eyeballed that first try, too... usually it takes like. Four whole fucking guesses. It's wild out there, I'll tell you..."

They stare in Nameless's direction. Not at Nameless, though- rather, through them. Everything Nameless had been understanding about them.. it vanished. For just a second, it all vanished. Like a husk was all that was left.

And then that moment was gone.

"Huh."

Nameless blinks, then leans back a bit.

"Heh, don't go..uh.. dying on me. I didn't put in all this conjuring effort for nothing!"

It cleared its throat, checking its claws. Quickly, however, it regained its confidence. "So! How did you even start bleeding out against a tree anyway? Normally I'd leave people like that, but I haven't been messing around just yet.."

"I got pelted like a snowball. It hurt a lot! Uh... some blue something-or-other slammed me into the tree after I accidentally insulted someone else, and uh... well, that's about as much as I remember!"

They stare at Nameless. "... you were worried for a second. Weren't you?" It's a mix of cockiness and some nonsensical hopefulness. A long shot, but a worthwhile one if it hits.

Nameless grit its teeth at the explanation, then tensed up at the question.

"Haaa. I don't get worried." It reached out, grasping Jar's chin again, still gentle. It didn't just release, however. Something glinted in its eyes, and though it refused to tear its gaze away, its hold was light enough to let them pull back if they so wished.

"I don't care much for silly little mortals like you." Nameless leaned closer, going back on the retreat, not close enough to be obvious, but not far enough to be hesitant. A tempted smirk laid on its face, its words laced in lies.

"Then why save me? You said you could've left me to die, so why didn't you? You contradict yourself." They... seem oddly insightful now. Only slightly, but still.

"There's something behind all that bravado."

They let the words hang in the air for a few moments, then move ever so slightly closer, despite every firing neuron telling them to back away. "Should I look for it..?"

Nameless, once again, is stunned. Most people actually react to its behavior, not just words. Fresh. New. Scary. Its smirk faltered slightly, before falling completely. It could only remember a single person who'd ever behaved like this, or at least similarly. Another chance was worth it, it went well last time.

"Sure." It replied, a brief memory flickering that it quickly shut down. A wing on the side of its head twitched, sliding back a bit.

They freeze for a second. They hadn't really thought this far ahead, almost 100% sure they'd get shut down the moment they said something. Then, they sit up straight, putting actual effort into their posture.

They hack up a bit more blood, but wipe it away. "Sorry, blood isn't exactly flattering, I know..."

"Anyhow... I suppose the best thing is to ask questions? Until we reach the hospital, that is... so. Uhm... alright, okay... how about starting with what you are? Species-wise. You don't look exactly... human to me." They genuinely look into Nameless's eyes. It's odd to look in there, but the only real way Jar knowsw how to show they're paying attention.

Nameless tilts its head, but says nothing. It always found being bloody to be attractive. It gives a soft chuckle, intentionally baring teeth. "Oh, species definition is so boring, no? I mean, I've been called far too many things. Shapeshifter, demon, wretch. I can't truly put a label to it."

It paused, giving a bit of thought to it. "But I could be yours, if you'd like." Its tone is openly flirtatious now, not exactly personal, but definitely direct.

They were stretching their arms about halfway through the explanation, then promptly froze. They turned their head to spit more blood on the floor, then whirls back to look at Nameless.

"Sorry, WHAT? I- look, I'm dense as shit, don't get me wrong, but like- I- wh- huh? I don't even- what???" They pretty much stammer their way through the whole sentence, any previous thoughts entirely thrown off by the equivalent of a bomb detonating in Jar's train of thought.

"Okay, okay- back the fuck up. Where did this come from? A moment ago you looked like you were gonna kill me at some point, now you're- flirting with me? I think?"

It snickered at the reaction. "You're curious. Different, even. That normally gets you killed." Its gaze shifted. More sharp, more honest. "But that's what I look for in people."

"Did that not answer your question?" Nameless let a rough edge creep on its voice, then immediately cleared its throat. "Because I really don't have a defined species."

"Uh- yeah, okay, both questions satiated, I suppose, uhm..." They take a moment to awkwardly clear their throat, racking their brain for any other semblance of a question they could ask. If not to learn more about Nameless, then just to keep the conversation going. It'd be a shame to stop talking by now.

"Alright. Okay. Uhm... so. My... my bleeding. It slowed when you, uh... waved your hand around all weirdly. I wanna assume that was you that slowed the bleeding, so... how? Not that I'm ungrateful, it's great to not be dying, but... ya know. Still curious."

They steady themselves against the wall, looking down at the dried blood they had smeared on their hand from wiping at their mouth a bit ago.

"My own little, mhheh.. Abilities, we'll say."

Nameless flicks its hand, and the dried blood suddenly fades away like never there. "Interesting, no?" There's a small tingling sensation left on your hand, but otherwise nothing odd remained.

"There's a ton that I can do with it. Spontaneous fires, teleportation, shapeshifting. The list goes on!"

“Conjuring and illusion magic, huh? Er- maybe not magic, but I’m so much of a nerd I’m using damn DnD as a reference, so… good enough!”

They subtly shift closer. Just enough to feel a bit more… protected. It’s a weird fucking gamble, but they’re placing all their trust in Nameless right now, so what’s the harm in putting a little more?

“Uhm… well, if you can ‘heal’ my injuries, then… why exactly are we going to a hospital?”

"Because I have to use more energy for the more serious things, and I don't feel like doing that right now."

It gave a quick, dismissive wave of its hand, then added- "I'm just making sure you don't die before we get there."

“Hm. That’s… well, yeah, that’s fair…”

Again, ever so slightly closer. The vehicle is far too cold, despite Jar’s outfit being the way it is sheerly for the sake of dealing with their sensitivity to cold temperatures.

“Just… wake me up when we get there. My eyes are too damn heavy for this shit…” They lay on the floor, still trying to huddle into their own warmth, and close their eyes for a while.

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

"..Interesting." It murmured, continuing to watch.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

"Nah." It replied, though quiet.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

"... so why? Why help me? I.. honestly can't remember if I asked you that before, but the question still stands." They let a bit more of the blood fall from their mouth, not bothering to wipe it or spit it out.

Nameless is stuck on that one. Trying to figure out an answer. And it had none. Nothing popped up, nothing came to mind. All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. That unintentional charm that it kept stumbling up to and falling for again and again.

It doesn't give a response.

They turn over, then finally decide to sit up again. ".. if you don't want to answer, that's... fine. It was an odd question anyway. I really shouldn't ask as if I'm not grateful- if not for you I'd have bled out against that tree by now." They laugh uncomfortably, trying not to linger on the thought.

They fold up the blanket and hold it toward Nameless, attempting to maintain some form of eye contact while doing so. "You can keep this. I don't need it." They clear their throat, failing on their previous attempt of looking at Nameless, and deciding it best to just avert their eyes for now. "... but thank you for giving it to me."

Nameless bites back a grin, taking the blanket and just.. eviscerating it. Where the fuck did it even go?? It sighs, opens its mouth to speak, loses its words, pauses, opens its mouth again, and only musters a struggled noise. It just can't seem to gather its words. Such an intimidating, apparently merciless killer, unable to say anything.

Jar is far more worried about WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DID IT GO than whatever internal emotional turmoil Nameless is dragging themselves through.

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

But they say nothing.

Nameless gives up on finding its words, looking at anything but Jar. It rarely lost its words like that before, especially nowadays. When it looks back at them, it immediately looks away. Why? Why did it do that? Maybe it should look back. No, no, that's stupid. It lifts a clawed hand, covering its face. God, what was it doing?

Jar keeps looking for a few seconds, gears turning in their head.

".. You okay?" They HIGHLY doubted it, but asked anyway. Just to make sure. Just to be courteous.

They reach out toward Nameless's face, but retract their hand about as soon as they realize the thought crossed their mind.

".. This is awkward, huh...? Feels like I'm just talking to talk now."

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

Nameless is already flushed at the laughter, but then looks shocked at the full reply.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless stares at the blood, stares at Jar, then grabs their wrist and just.. phases both of them through the vehicle, before the vehicle itself faded into nothing.

"Come on. That's concer- er.." It trailed off, simply pulling them into the building.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Nameless didn't go in. It knew how it'd react, and it wouldn't ruin shit that way. It'd check in after a few days, but for now? For now, Nameless refused to visit.

It would wait. It was better than a merciless killer when it wanted to be.

TIME SKIP INCOMING! 2 days later...

The birds still sing overhead. The sun still shines brightly. The trees still sway and bend in the wind.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

..It cleared its throat. "No way you were leaving without me, darling~."

"AH-" They jump at the snap, then just... blinks at Nameless.

"Holy shit, you-" They reach out and gently touch Nameless's hair, then quickly retract their hand. "I... thought you weren't real."

"I mean- you disappeared once I made it to the hospital, so... I thought you were just my imagination. A dream, or something, I-" Colt slides their hand down their face, groaning slightly.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

Nameless chuckled. "I don't do all that sappy stuff like hospital visits!" Then immediately paused at the question. Staring. And then it begrudgingly nodded. "Yeah."

It opened its arms, expression filled with a mixture of emotions. "And I'm shocked you really thought that. We had something special, no?"

They dive into Nameless. They've never felt the need to do that before, but they dived. They clutched onto Nameless about as hard as they physically could.

They speak between ragged sniffles. "Hah- right, yeah, uhm... sorry. My mind's been.. doing weird things recently, since- ya know. Blood loss makes you a bit out of it, so..." They bury their head into Nameless's shoulder.

"Sorry if this is, uh- more than you're comfortable with. I just... need to ground myself for a second. So. Yeah. Uhm." They just stay there, not speaking anymore.

Nameless is stunned. It can barely wrap its arms around them, it can barely give a small squeeze, and yet it doesn't have to fight to not claw them. "...Yeah." It mumbled, one hand hesitantly resting in Jar's hair.

It blinked. "Why did you want to hug me?"

"I don't really know. To prove to myself you're.. here. And that you care. Even if you'd never really admit that."

They clear their throat, sniffling a bit. "Sorry, sorry, I uh- I'm a bit emotional, heh..."

They pull back, looking at Nameless in the eyes. "There's... something I think I need to tell you. I think. I'm not sure if I should, but I..." They inhale for a couple seconds, then sharply exhale.

"I think, just maybe, I might MAYBE be in love with you, but to be totally honest it's fucking terrifying to say that out loud." They frantically scan Nameless's face with their eyes, searching for any reaction. They're more nervous than when they were about to die just a few days ago. What the fuck? This shouldn't be real.

It stares. Stares a bit more at the confession, then smirks. "Really now?" It moved its claw, now gently cupping their cheek. "That's just adorable." Its tone is mocking. Like it'll reject you.

"..Let me kiss you." It suddenly demanded, both loving and something different.

"I- wh- what...?" Their voice shakes like a leaf. They're fucking terrified. Terrified of messing this up. Terrified of losing this. Terrified Nameless doesn't actually care. Terrified of everything.

They swallow hard enough it can be heard. "I- okay, yeah... go ahead."

Nameless leans forward after confirmation. It slots its lips against theirs. Soft, careful. Completely unlike its normal self. It doesn't push, doesn't bite, it just holds a kiss for a second or two before pulling back. "I love you too, if that wasn't obvious." It rested its forehead on theirs, eyes half-lidded.

They jump a bit a the kiss, but try their best to stay calm. They've never... done this before. It's awkward.

Jar can barely control their breath. Their heart is pounding in their ears. Their voice is more airy than vocal.

"H- holy shit... wh- woah, okay..." They lightly hold onto Nameless to try and keep themselves upright. They clear their throat.

"Yeah, that... well, it probably was obvious. However, I'm the most oblivious motherfucker on the planet, so... hah. Yeah. Huh..."

They refuse to move away until Nameless does. Too awkward to do so. "So... what now?"

"Adorable. C'mon, we're taking a walk." It waved them along with a hand, though the other laced its claws with their fingers. After just a few steps, the two were suddenly enveloped in a swirl of dark magic.

Reappearing, the two were in some sort of.. house. Well-lit, almost comforting, clearly made by its own power. "I usually go here most of the time when I have nothing to do. Fun, isn't it?"

"Whhhat the fuck. H-"

They turn to look at Nameless, then facepalm for a second. "You know, I forget you're sorta... a fucking demon. GODS, I am stupid-"

They take a look around, observing as much as they can. It's oddly relaxing. Every other time they were in someone's house it always felt foreboding. "... Nice place."

It snickers, releasing their hand. "I like to think it's pretty nice. Not as good as what I could make, but fancy was never my style." It paused, then gave a quick, sudden nip to Jar's nose. It didn't break skin, but it was definitely noticeable. "Aanyways.. It's not that big, so feel free to look around if you want."

They giggle at themselves, then nod, taking the chance to explore the area. They wander around a bit blindly, checking out the furniture, opening a couple drawers out of curiosity and boredom.

"Right, uhm..." They grab the phone, barely investigating it. For the sake of interaction, it's just something to look at so they don't spend too long staring at Nameless.

(CONTEXT: i got fully decked into a tree from 120 yards away thanks to someone and am now bleeding out and probably have more injuries! @thebelltollsforyou is taking me to the hospital (don't ask?), and we have now designated this as an RP chain because it is funny. also also: this is humanoid jar (yay!))

It's oddly quiet from Jar on the way to the hospital. Probably because they're focused on, oh I don't know, not dying? They ARE sorta. bleeding out. Kinda bad. Though they do ask ONE question.

"... remind me who you are? I uh.. vaguely remember you, but not by much, hah..."

... WOW it's awkward.

Nameless is rocking back and forth on its feet while some sort of.. ambulance-like vehicle drives along. It seemed to have just conjured this up, so best to not question it.

At the sudden question, it glances at Jar, flashing a mischievous grin.

"They call me Nameless, honey. You may have heard of me from my little.. mhheh.. incidents." It leaned a bit closer, fangs glinting in dim light.

"Hm. Fun name... having no name at all. Narrative decisions at their finest."

Blood keeps dripping from their mouth. They just wipe it away, despite its persistence to continue leaking out.

Drip. Drip. Drip. A bit of it gets on the floor.

Drip. Drip. Drip. It stains his hoodie, landing directly on the star.

"... I have to get this cleaned now..."

Nameless is quickly irritated by the slow, steady drip. It conjures up a handkerchief, decides against it, conjures a.. something. Something unidentifiable and constantly shifting, then whisks both away.

It stares at Jar, suddenly lifting a claw to wipe a few drops of blood that just dripped. It held eye contact as it sucked the blood off its finger tip, far too interested in this. "Sad. Also, it isn't no name, it's that my name is Nameless. Like the word nameless."

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

They look at the blood gathered at the floor, then move their hand away from their mouth. They spit out a bit more, but it's certainly less now.

"Hm. Still kinda ironic. Being named 'Nameless'... parents not like you or something? Heh."

They stare it down for a second or two with an.. odd expression? Part smile, part intrigue- it's hard to tell, really.

Then, they just.. lay back. Stare at the roof of the vehicle and just hum. They hum until they get interrupted.

"I don't have parents."

Nameless deadpanned, eyeing up every feature that it could. Its eyes were half-lidded, full of intent. It had to hold itself back- despite everything it lived for, this was an injured individual. One that didn't cower in fear immediately.

"Name kinda came from a whole thing with this red bitch.. A sort of enemy that I had. I had to make a quick decision, and Nameless seemed ominous enough. I think it fits me."

"Ah, yes, red bitches, the worst kind. I vaguely remember someone red fucking my life up too!"

"... No fuck, they were grey. Nevermind, forget that."

They sit up, clearly deciding that the ceiling was too boring. They stare at Nameless, then at the window, then the wall after realizing that THERE ARE NO WINDOWS, then back at Nameless.

"Ya know. You look like someone who kills people, if I'll be honest. For sport, too. Though it'd be too personal if I asked you, so I'm making a statement instead, which leaves it open-ended enough for you to chime in if you so wish. The exact thing I taught myself to do over the past however long I've been alive."

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

Nameless suddenly hunches over partially, letting out a genuine laugh. Something no one would expect unless it was covered in someone's blood, or something like that.

"I do. I torture for sport, kill for sport.. I once burnt someone alive, and made someone hallucinate to near insanity!"

It suddenly reached out, oh so carefully grasping their chin to bring their gaze back over. "But I wouldn't do that to you."

Then it let go, immediately flexing its fingers. "Not yet, anyways!"

"Welp! Good to know I'm safe for now, I guess! Kinda insane how I eyeballed that first try, too... usually it takes like. Four whole fucking guesses. It's wild out there, I'll tell you..."

They stare in Nameless's direction. Not at Nameless, though- rather, through them. Everything Nameless had been understanding about them.. it vanished. For just a second, it all vanished. Like a husk was all that was left.

And then that moment was gone.

"Huh."

Nameless blinks, then leans back a bit.

"Heh, don't go..uh.. dying on me. I didn't put in all this conjuring effort for nothing!"

It cleared its throat, checking its claws. Quickly, however, it regained its confidence. "So! How did you even start bleeding out against a tree anyway? Normally I'd leave people like that, but I haven't been messing around just yet.."

"I got pelted like a snowball. It hurt a lot! Uh... some blue something-or-other slammed me into the tree after I accidentally insulted someone else, and uh... well, that's about as much as I remember!"

They stare at Nameless. "... you were worried for a second. Weren't you?" It's a mix of cockiness and some nonsensical hopefulness. A long shot, but a worthwhile one if it hits.

Nameless grit its teeth at the explanation, then tensed up at the question.

"Haaa. I don't get worried." It reached out, grasping Jar's chin again, still gentle. It didn't just release, however. Something glinted in its eyes, and though it refused to tear its gaze away, its hold was light enough to let them pull back if they so wished.

"I don't care much for silly little mortals like you." Nameless leaned closer, going back on the retreat, not close enough to be obvious, but not far enough to be hesitant. A tempted smirk laid on its face, its words laced in lies.

"Then why save me? You said you could've left me to die, so why didn't you? You contradict yourself." They... seem oddly insightful now. Only slightly, but still.

"There's something behind all that bravado."

They let the words hang in the air for a few moments, then move ever so slightly closer, despite every firing neuron telling them to back away. "Should I look for it..?"

Nameless, once again, is stunned. Most people actually react to its behavior, not just words. Fresh. New. Scary. Its smirk faltered slightly, before falling completely. It could only remember a single person who'd ever behaved like this, or at least similarly. Another chance was worth it, it went well last time.

"Sure." It replied, a brief memory flickering that it quickly shut down. A wing on the side of its head twitched, sliding back a bit.

They freeze for a second. They hadn't really thought this far ahead, almost 100% sure they'd get shut down the moment they said something. Then, they sit up straight, putting actual effort into their posture.

They hack up a bit more blood, but wipe it away. "Sorry, blood isn't exactly flattering, I know..."

"Anyhow... I suppose the best thing is to ask questions? Until we reach the hospital, that is... so. Uhm... alright, okay... how about starting with what you are? Species-wise. You don't look exactly... human to me." They genuinely look into Nameless's eyes. It's odd to look in there, but the only real way Jar knowsw how to show they're paying attention.

Nameless tilts its head, but says nothing. It always found being bloody to be attractive. It gives a soft chuckle, intentionally baring teeth. "Oh, species definition is so boring, no? I mean, I've been called far too many things. Shapeshifter, demon, wretch. I can't truly put a label to it."

It paused, giving a bit of thought to it. "But I could be yours, if you'd like." Its tone is openly flirtatious now, not exactly personal, but definitely direct.

They were stretching their arms about halfway through the explanation, then promptly froze. They turned their head to spit more blood on the floor, then whirls back to look at Nameless.

"Sorry, WHAT? I- look, I'm dense as shit, don't get me wrong, but like- I- wh- huh? I don't even- what???" They pretty much stammer their way through the whole sentence, any previous thoughts entirely thrown off by the equivalent of a bomb detonating in Jar's train of thought.

"Okay, okay- back the fuck up. Where did this come from? A moment ago you looked like you were gonna kill me at some point, now you're- flirting with me? I think?"

It snickered at the reaction. "You're curious. Different, even. That normally gets you killed." Its gaze shifted. More sharp, more honest. "But that's what I look for in people."

"Did that not answer your question?" Nameless let a rough edge creep on its voice, then immediately cleared its throat. "Because I really don't have a defined species."

"Uh- yeah, okay, both questions satiated, I suppose, uhm..." They take a moment to awkwardly clear their throat, racking their brain for any other semblance of a question they could ask. If not to learn more about Nameless, then just to keep the conversation going. It'd be a shame to stop talking by now.

"Alright. Okay. Uhm... so. My... my bleeding. It slowed when you, uh... waved your hand around all weirdly. I wanna assume that was you that slowed the bleeding, so... how? Not that I'm ungrateful, it's great to not be dying, but... ya know. Still curious."

They steady themselves against the wall, looking down at the dried blood they had smeared on their hand from wiping at their mouth a bit ago.

"My own little, mhheh.. Abilities, we'll say."

Nameless flicks its hand, and the dried blood suddenly fades away like never there. "Interesting, no?" There's a small tingling sensation left on your hand, but otherwise nothing odd remained.

"There's a ton that I can do with it. Spontaneous fires, teleportation, shapeshifting. The list goes on!"

“Conjuring and illusion magic, huh? Er- maybe not magic, but I’m so much of a nerd I’m using damn DnD as a reference, so… good enough!”

They subtly shift closer. Just enough to feel a bit more… protected. It’s a weird fucking gamble, but they’re placing all their trust in Nameless right now, so what’s the harm in putting a little more?

“Uhm… well, if you can ‘heal’ my injuries, then… why exactly are we going to a hospital?”

"Because I have to use more energy for the more serious things, and I don't feel like doing that right now."

It gave a quick, dismissive wave of its hand, then added- "I'm just making sure you don't die before we get there."

Again, ever so slightly closer. The vehicle is far too cold, despite Jar’s outfit being the way it is sheerly for the sake of dealing with their sensitivity to cold temperatures.

“Just… wake me up when we get there. My eyes are too damn heavy for this shit…” They lay on the floor, still trying to huddle into their own warmth, and close their eyes for a while.

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

"..Interesting." It murmured, continuing to watch.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

"Nah." It replied, though quiet.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

"... so why? Why help me? I.. honestly can't remember if I asked you that before, but the question still stands." They let a bit more of the blood fall from their mouth, not bothering to wipe it or spit it out.

Nameless is stuck on that one. Trying to figure out an answer. And it had none. Nothing popped up, nothing came to mind. All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. That unintentional charm that it kept stumbling up to and falling for again and again.

It doesn't give a response.

They turn over, then finally decide to sit up again. ".. if you don't want to answer, that's... fine. It was an odd question anyway. I really shouldn't ask as if I'm not grateful- if not for you I'd have bled out against that tree by now." They laugh uncomfortably, trying not to linger on the thought.

They fold up the blanket and hold it toward Nameless, attempting to maintain some form of eye contact while doing so. "You can keep this. I don't need it." They clear their throat, failing on their previous attempt of looking at Nameless, and deciding it best to just avert their eyes for now. "... but thank you for giving it to me."

Nameless bites back a grin, taking the blanket and just.. eviscerating it. Where the fuck did it even go?? It sighs, opens its mouth to speak, loses its words, pauses, opens its mouth again, and only musters a struggled noise. It just can't seem to gather its words. Such an intimidating, apparently merciless killer, unable to say anything.

Jar is far more worried about WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DID IT GO than whatever internal emotional turmoil Nameless is dragging themselves through.

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

But they say nothing.

Nameless gives up on finding its words, looking at anything but Jar. It rarely lost its words like that before, especially nowadays. When it looks back at them, it immediately looks away. Why? Why did it do that? Maybe it should look back. No, no, that's stupid. It lifts a clawed hand, covering its face. God, what was it doing?

Jar keeps looking for a few seconds, gears turning in their head.

".. You okay?" They HIGHLY doubted it, but asked anyway. Just to make sure. Just to be courteous.

They reach out toward Nameless's face, but retract their hand about as soon as they realize the thought crossed their mind.

".. This is awkward, huh...? Feels like I'm just talking to talk now."

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

Nameless is already flushed at the laughter, but then looks shocked at the full reply.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless stares at the blood, stares at Jar, then grabs their wrist and just.. phases both of them through the vehicle, before the vehicle itself faded into nothing.

"Come on. That's concer- er.." It trailed off, simply pulling them into the building.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Nameless didn't go in. It knew how it'd react, and it wouldn't ruin shit that way. It'd check in after a few days, but for now? For now, Nameless refused to visit.

It would wait. It was better than a merciless killer when it wanted to be.

The birds still sing overhead. The sun still shines brightly. The trees still sway and bend in the wind.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

..It cleared its throat. "No way you were leaving without me, darling~."

"AH-" They jump at the snap, then just... blinks at Nameless.

"Holy shit, you-" They reach out and gently touch Nameless's hair, then quickly retract their hand. "I... thought you weren't real."

"I mean- you disappeared once I made it to the hospital, so... I thought you were just my imagination. A dream, or something, I-" Colt slides their hand down their face, groaning slightly.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

Nameless chuckled. "I don't do all that sappy stuff like hospital visits!" Then immediately paused at the question. Staring. And then it begrudgingly nodded. "Yeah."

It opened its arms, expression filled with a mixture of emotions. "And I'm shocked you really thought that. We had something special, no?"

They dive into Nameless. They've never felt the need to do that before, but they dived. They clutched onto Nameless about as hard as they physically could.

They speak between ragged sniffles. "Hah- right, yeah, uhm... sorry. My mind's been.. doing weird things recently, since- ya know. Blood loss makes you a bit out of it, so..." They bury their head into Nameless's shoulder.

"Sorry if this is, uh- more than you're comfortable with. I just... need to ground myself for a second. So. Yeah. Uhm." They just stay there, not speaking anymore.

Nameless is stunned. It can barely wrap its arms around them, it can barely give a small squeeze, and yet it doesn't have to fight to not claw them. "...Yeah." It mumbled, one hand hesitantly resting in Jar's hair.

It blinked. "Why did you want to hug me?"

"I don't really know. To prove to myself you're.. here. And that you care. Even if you'd never really admit that."

They clear their throat, sniffling a bit. "Sorry, sorry, I uh- I'm a bit emotional, heh..."

They pull back, looking at Nameless in the eyes. "There's... something I think I need to tell you. I think. I'm not sure if I should, but I..." They inhale for a couple seconds, then sharply exhale.

"I think, just maybe, I might MAYBE be in love with you, but to be totally honest it's fucking terrifying to say that out loud." They frantically scan Nameless's face with their eyes, searching for any reaction. They're more nervous than when they were about to die just a few days ago. What the fuck? This shouldn't be real.

It stares. Stares a bit more at the confession, then smirks. "Really now?" It moved its claw, now gently cupping their cheek. "That's just adorable." Its tone is mocking. Like it'll reject you.

"..Let me kiss you." It suddenly demanded, both loving and something different.

"I- wh- what...?" Their voice shakes like a leaf. They're fucking terrified. Terrified of messing this up. Terrified of losing this. Terrified Nameless doesn't actually care. Terrified of everything.

They swallow hard enough it can be heard. "I- okay, yeah... go ahead."

Nameless leans forward after confirmation. It slots its lips against theirs. Soft, careful. Completely unlike its normal self. It doesn't push, doesn't bite, it just holds a kiss for a second or two before pulling back. "I love you too, if that wasn't obvious." It rested its forehead on theirs, eyes half-lidded.

They jump a bit a the kiss, but try their best to stay calm. They've never... done this before. It's awkward.

Jar can barely control their breath. Their heart is pounding in their ears. Their voice is more airy than vocal.

"H- holy shit... wh- woah, okay..." They lightly hold onto Nameless to try and keep themselves upright. They clear their throat.

"Adorable. C'mon, we're taking a walk." It waved them along with a hand, though the other laced its claws with their fingers. After just a few steps, the two were suddenly enveloped in a swirl of dark magic.

Reappearing, the two were in some sort of.. house. Well-lit, almost comforting, clearly made by its own power. "I usually go here most of the time when I have nothing to do. Fun, isn't it?"

"Whhhat the fuck. H-"

They turn to look at Nameless, then facepalm for a second. "You know, I forget you're sorta... a fucking demon. GODS, I am stupid-"

They take a look around, observing as much as they can. It's oddly relaxing. Every other time they were in someone's house it always felt foreboding. "... Nice place."

It snickers, releasing their hand. "I like to think it's pretty nice. Not as good as what I could make, but fancy was never my style." It paused, then gave a quick, sudden nip to Jar's nose. It didn't break skin, but it was definitely noticeable. "Aanyways.. It's not that big, so feel free to look around if you want."

They giggle at themselves, then nod, taking the chance to explore the area. They wander around a bit blindly, checking out the furniture, opening a couple drawers out of curiosity and boredom.

At one point, they walk up to Nameless from behind and tap them on the shoulder. "Yo. You, uh... you have a phone? Of some kind? So we can, uh.. keep in contact, just in case we get separated or something. At some point.

(CONTEXT: i got fully decked into a tree from 120 yards away thanks to someone and am now bleeding out and probably have more injuries! @thebelltollsforyou is taking me to the hospital (don't ask?), and we have now designated this as an RP chain because it is funny. also also: this is humanoid jar (yay!))

It's oddly quiet from Jar on the way to the hospital. Probably because they're focused on, oh I don't know, not dying? They ARE sorta. bleeding out. Kinda bad. Though they do ask ONE question.

"... remind me who you are? I uh.. vaguely remember you, but not by much, hah..."

... WOW it's awkward.

Nameless is rocking back and forth on its feet while some sort of.. ambulance-like vehicle drives along. It seemed to have just conjured this up, so best to not question it.

At the sudden question, it glances at Jar, flashing a mischievous grin.

"They call me Nameless, honey. You may have heard of me from my little.. mhheh.. incidents." It leaned a bit closer, fangs glinting in dim light.

"Hm. Fun name... having no name at all. Narrative decisions at their finest."

Blood keeps dripping from their mouth. They just wipe it away, despite its persistence to continue leaking out.

Drip. Drip. Drip. A bit of it gets on the floor.

Drip. Drip. Drip. It stains his hoodie, landing directly on the star.

"... I have to get this cleaned now..."

Nameless is quickly irritated by the slow, steady drip. It conjures up a handkerchief, decides against it, conjures a.. something. Something unidentifiable and constantly shifting, then whisks both away.

It stares at Jar, suddenly lifting a claw to wipe a few drops of blood that just dripped. It held eye contact as it sucked the blood off its finger tip, far too interested in this. "Sad. Also, it isn't no name, it's that my name is Nameless. Like the word nameless."

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

They look at the blood gathered at the floor, then move their hand away from their mouth. They spit out a bit more, but it's certainly less now.

"Hm. Still kinda ironic. Being named 'Nameless'... parents not like you or something? Heh."

They stare it down for a second or two with an.. odd expression? Part smile, part intrigue- it's hard to tell, really.

Then, they just.. lay back. Stare at the roof of the vehicle and just hum. They hum until they get interrupted.

"I don't have parents."

Nameless deadpanned, eyeing up every feature that it could. Its eyes were half-lidded, full of intent. It had to hold itself back- despite everything it lived for, this was an injured individual. One that didn't cower in fear immediately.

"Name kinda came from a whole thing with this red bitch.. A sort of enemy that I had. I had to make a quick decision, and Nameless seemed ominous enough. I think it fits me."

"Ah, yes, red bitches, the worst kind. I vaguely remember someone red fucking my life up too!"

"... No fuck, they were grey. Nevermind, forget that."

They sit up, clearly deciding that the ceiling was too boring. They stare at Nameless, then at the window, then the wall after realizing that THERE ARE NO WINDOWS, then back at Nameless.

"Ya know. You look like someone who kills people, if I'll be honest. For sport, too. Though it'd be too personal if I asked you, so I'm making a statement instead, which leaves it open-ended enough for you to chime in if you so wish. The exact thing I taught myself to do over the past however long I've been alive."

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

Nameless suddenly hunches over partially, letting out a genuine laugh. Something no one would expect unless it was covered in someone's blood, or something like that.

"I do. I torture for sport, kill for sport.. I once burnt someone alive, and made someone hallucinate to near insanity!"

It suddenly reached out, oh so carefully grasping their chin to bring their gaze back over. "But I wouldn't do that to you."

Then it let go, immediately flexing its fingers. "Not yet, anyways!"

"Welp! Good to know I'm safe for now, I guess! Kinda insane how I eyeballed that first try, too... usually it takes like. Four whole fucking guesses. It's wild out there, I'll tell you..."

They stare in Nameless's direction. Not at Nameless, though- rather, through them. Everything Nameless had been understanding about them.. it vanished. For just a second, it all vanished. Like a husk was all that was left.

And then that moment was gone.

"Huh."

Nameless blinks, then leans back a bit.

"Heh, don't go..uh.. dying on me. I didn't put in all this conjuring effort for nothing!"

It cleared its throat, checking its claws. Quickly, however, it regained its confidence. "So! How did you even start bleeding out against a tree anyway? Normally I'd leave people like that, but I haven't been messing around just yet.."

"I got pelted like a snowball. It hurt a lot! Uh... some blue something-or-other slammed me into the tree after I accidentally insulted someone else, and uh... well, that's about as much as I remember!"

They stare at Nameless. "... you were worried for a second. Weren't you?" It's a mix of cockiness and some nonsensical hopefulness. A long shot, but a worthwhile one if it hits.

Nameless grit its teeth at the explanation, then tensed up at the question.

"Haaa. I don't get worried." It reached out, grasping Jar's chin again, still gentle. It didn't just release, however. Something glinted in its eyes, and though it refused to tear its gaze away, its hold was light enough to let them pull back if they so wished.

"I don't care much for silly little mortals like you." Nameless leaned closer, going back on the retreat, not close enough to be obvious, but not far enough to be hesitant. A tempted smirk laid on its face, its words laced in lies.

"Then why save me? You said you could've left me to die, so why didn't you? You contradict yourself." They... seem oddly insightful now. Only slightly, but still.

"There's something behind all that bravado."

They let the words hang in the air for a few moments, then move ever so slightly closer, despite every firing neuron telling them to back away. "Should I look for it..?"

Nameless, once again, is stunned. Most people actually react to its behavior, not just words. Fresh. New. Scary. Its smirk faltered slightly, before falling completely. It could only remember a single person who'd ever behaved like this, or at least similarly. Another chance was worth it, it went well last time.

"Sure." It replied, a brief memory flickering that it quickly shut down. A wing on the side of its head twitched, sliding back a bit.

They freeze for a second. They hadn't really thought this far ahead, almost 100% sure they'd get shut down the moment they said something. Then, they sit up straight, putting actual effort into their posture.

They hack up a bit more blood, but wipe it away. "Sorry, blood isn't exactly flattering, I know..."

"Anyhow... I suppose the best thing is to ask questions? Until we reach the hospital, that is... so. Uhm... alright, okay... how about starting with what you are? Species-wise. You don't look exactly... human to me." They genuinely look into Nameless's eyes. It's odd to look in there, but the only real way Jar knowsw how to show they're paying attention.

Nameless tilts its head, but says nothing. It always found being bloody to be attractive. It gives a soft chuckle, intentionally baring teeth. "Oh, species definition is so boring, no? I mean, I've been called far too many things. Shapeshifter, demon, wretch. I can't truly put a label to it."

It paused, giving a bit of thought to it. "But I could be yours, if you'd like." Its tone is openly flirtatious now, not exactly personal, but definitely direct.

They were stretching their arms about halfway through the explanation, then promptly froze. They turned their head to spit more blood on the floor, then whirls back to look at Nameless.

"Sorry, WHAT? I- look, I'm dense as shit, don't get me wrong, but like- I- wh- huh? I don't even- what???" They pretty much stammer their way through the whole sentence, any previous thoughts entirely thrown off by the equivalent of a bomb detonating in Jar's train of thought.

"Okay, okay- back the fuck up. Where did this come from? A moment ago you looked like you were gonna kill me at some point, now you're- flirting with me? I think?"

It snickered at the reaction. "You're curious. Different, even. That normally gets you killed." Its gaze shifted. More sharp, more honest. "But that's what I look for in people."

"Did that not answer your question?" Nameless let a rough edge creep on its voice, then immediately cleared its throat. "Because I really don't have a defined species."

"Uh- yeah, okay, both questions satiated, I suppose, uhm..." They take a moment to awkwardly clear their throat, racking their brain for any other semblance of a question they could ask. If not to learn more about Nameless, then just to keep the conversation going. It'd be a shame to stop talking by now.

"Alright. Okay. Uhm... so. My... my bleeding. It slowed when you, uh... waved your hand around all weirdly. I wanna assume that was you that slowed the bleeding, so... how? Not that I'm ungrateful, it's great to not be dying, but... ya know. Still curious."

They steady themselves against the wall, looking down at the dried blood they had smeared on their hand from wiping at their mouth a bit ago.

"My own little, mhheh.. Abilities, we'll say."

Nameless flicks its hand, and the dried blood suddenly fades away like never there. "Interesting, no?" There's a small tingling sensation left on your hand, but otherwise nothing odd remained.

"There's a ton that I can do with it. Spontaneous fires, teleportation, shapeshifting. The list goes on!"

“Conjuring and illusion magic, huh? Er- maybe not magic, but I’m so much of a nerd I’m using damn DnD as a reference, so… good enough!”

They subtly shift closer. Just enough to feel a bit more… protected. It’s a weird fucking gamble, but they’re placing all their trust in Nameless right now, so what’s the harm in putting a little more?

“Uhm… well, if you can ‘heal’ my injuries, then… why exactly are we going to a hospital?”

"Because I have to use more energy for the more serious things, and I don't feel like doing that right now."

It gave a quick, dismissive wave of its hand, then added- "I'm just making sure you don't die before we get there."

“Hm. That’s… well, yeah, that’s fair…”

Again, ever so slightly closer. The vehicle is far too cold, despite Jar’s outfit being the way it is sheerly for the sake of dealing with their sensitivity to cold temperatures.

“Just… wake me up when we get there. My eyes are too damn heavy for this shit…” They lay on the floor, still trying to huddle into their own warmth, and close their eyes for a while.

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

"..Interesting." It murmured, continuing to watch.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

"Nah." It replied, though quiet.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

"... so why? Why help me? I.. honestly can't remember if I asked you that before, but the question still stands." They let a bit more of the blood fall from their mouth, not bothering to wipe it or spit it out.

Nameless is stuck on that one. Trying to figure out an answer. And it had none. Nothing popped up, nothing came to mind. All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. That unintentional charm that it kept stumbling up to and falling for again and again.

It doesn't give a response.

They turn over, then finally decide to sit up again. ".. if you don't want to answer, that's... fine. It was an odd question anyway. I really shouldn't ask as if I'm not grateful- if not for you I'd have bled out against that tree by now." They laugh uncomfortably, trying not to linger on the thought.

They fold up the blanket and hold it toward Nameless, attempting to maintain some form of eye contact while doing so. "You can keep this. I don't need it." They clear their throat, failing on their previous attempt of looking at Nameless, and deciding it best to just avert their eyes for now. "... but thank you for giving it to me."

Nameless bites back a grin, taking the blanket and just.. eviscerating it. Where the fuck did it even go?? It sighs, opens its mouth to speak, loses its words, pauses, opens its mouth again, and only musters a struggled noise. It just can't seem to gather its words. Such an intimidating, apparently merciless killer, unable to say anything.

Jar is far more worried about WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DID IT GO than whatever internal emotional turmoil Nameless is dragging themselves through.

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

But they say nothing.

Nameless gives up on finding its words, looking at anything but Jar. It rarely lost its words like that before, especially nowadays. When it looks back at them, it immediately looks away. Why? Why did it do that? Maybe it should look back. No, no, that's stupid. It lifts a clawed hand, covering its face. God, what was it doing?

Jar keeps looking for a few seconds, gears turning in their head.

".. You okay?" They HIGHLY doubted it, but asked anyway. Just to make sure. Just to be courteous.

They reach out toward Nameless's face, but retract their hand about as soon as they realize the thought crossed their mind.

".. This is awkward, huh...? Feels like I'm just talking to talk now."

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

Nameless is already flushed at the laughter, but then looks shocked at the full reply.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless stares at the blood, stares at Jar, then grabs their wrist and just.. phases both of them through the vehicle, before the vehicle itself faded into nothing.

"Come on. That's concer- er.." It trailed off, simply pulling them into the building.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Nameless didn't go in. It knew how it'd react, and it wouldn't ruin shit that way. It'd check in after a few days, but for now? For now, Nameless refused to visit.

It would wait. It was better than a merciless killer when it wanted to be.

The birds still sing overhead. The sun still shines brightly. The trees still sway and bend in the wind.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

..It cleared its throat. "No way you were leaving without me, darling~."

"AH-" They jump at the snap, then just... blinks at Nameless.

"Holy shit, you-" They reach out and gently touch Nameless's hair, then quickly retract their hand. "I... thought you weren't real."

"I mean- you disappeared once I made it to the hospital, so... I thought you were just my imagination. A dream, or something, I-" Colt slides their hand down their face, groaning slightly.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

Nameless chuckled. "I don't do all that sappy stuff like hospital visits!" Then immediately paused at the question. Staring. And then it begrudgingly nodded. "Yeah."

It opened its arms, expression filled with a mixture of emotions. "And I'm shocked you really thought that. We had something special, no?"

They dive into Nameless. They've never felt the need to do that before, but they dived. They clutched onto Nameless about as hard as they physically could.

They speak between ragged sniffles. "Hah- right, yeah, uhm... sorry. My mind's been.. doing weird things recently, since- ya know. Blood loss makes you a bit out of it, so..." They bury their head into Nameless's shoulder.

"Sorry if this is, uh- more than you're comfortable with. I just... need to ground myself for a second. So. Yeah. Uhm." They just stay there, not speaking anymore.

Nameless is stunned. It can barely wrap its arms around them, it can barely give a small squeeze, and yet it doesn't have to fight to not claw them. "...Yeah." It mumbled, one hand hesitantly resting in Jar's hair.

It blinked. "Why did you want to hug me?"

"I don't really know. To prove to myself you're.. here. And that you care. Even if you'd never really admit that."

They clear their throat, sniffling a bit. "Sorry, sorry, I uh- I'm a bit emotional, heh..."

They pull back, looking at Nameless in the eyes. "There's... something I think I need to tell you. I think. I'm not sure if I should, but I..." They inhale for a couple seconds, then sharply exhale.

"I think, just maybe, I might MAYBE be in love with you, but to be totally honest it's fucking terrifying to say that out loud." They frantically scan Nameless's face with their eyes, searching for any reaction. They're more nervous than when they were about to die just a few days ago. What the fuck? This shouldn't be real.

It stares. Stares a bit more at the confession, then smirks. "Really now?" It moved its claw, now gently cupping their cheek. "That's just adorable." Its tone is mocking. Like it'll reject you.

"..Let me kiss you." It suddenly demanded, both loving and something different.

Nameless leans forward after confirmation. It slots its lips against theirs. Soft, careful. Completely unlike its normal self. It doesn't push, doesn't bite, it just holds a kiss for a second or two before pulling back. "I love you too, if that wasn't obvious." It rested its forehead on theirs, eyes half-lidded.

They turn to look at Nameless, then facepalm for a second. "You know, I forget you're sorta... a fucking demon. GODS, I am stupid-"

They take a look around, observing as much as they can. It's oddly relaxing. Every other time they were in someone's house it always felt foreboding. "... Nice place."

(CONTEXT: i got fully decked into a tree from 120 yards away thanks to someone and am now bleeding out and probably have more injuries! @thebelltollsforyou is taking me to the hospital (don't ask?), and we have now designated this as an RP chain because it is funny. also also: this is humanoid jar (yay!))

It's oddly quiet from Jar on the way to the hospital. Probably because they're focused on, oh I don't know, not dying? They ARE sorta. bleeding out. Kinda bad. Though they do ask ONE question.

"... remind me who you are? I uh.. vaguely remember you, but not by much, hah..."

... WOW it's awkward.

Nameless is rocking back and forth on its feet while some sort of.. ambulance-like vehicle drives along. It seemed to have just conjured this up, so best to not question it.

At the sudden question, it glances at Jar, flashing a mischievous grin.

"They call me Nameless, honey. You may have heard of me from my little.. mhheh.. incidents." It leaned a bit closer, fangs glinting in dim light.

"Hm. Fun name... having no name at all. Narrative decisions at their finest."

Blood keeps dripping from their mouth. They just wipe it away, despite its persistence to continue leaking out.

Drip. Drip. Drip. A bit of it gets on the floor.

Drip. Drip. Drip. It stains his hoodie, landing directly on the star.

"... I have to get this cleaned now..."

Nameless is quickly irritated by the slow, steady drip. It conjures up a handkerchief, decides against it, conjures a.. something. Something unidentifiable and constantly shifting, then whisks both away.

It stares at Jar, suddenly lifting a claw to wipe a few drops of blood that just dripped. It held eye contact as it sucked the blood off its finger tip, far too interested in this. "Sad. Also, it isn't no name, it's that my name is Nameless. Like the word nameless."

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

They look at the blood gathered at the floor, then move their hand away from their mouth. They spit out a bit more, but it's certainly less now.

"Hm. Still kinda ironic. Being named 'Nameless'... parents not like you or something? Heh."

They stare it down for a second or two with an.. odd expression? Part smile, part intrigue- it's hard to tell, really.

Then, they just.. lay back. Stare at the roof of the vehicle and just hum. They hum until they get interrupted.

"I don't have parents."

Nameless deadpanned, eyeing up every feature that it could. Its eyes were half-lidded, full of intent. It had to hold itself back- despite everything it lived for, this was an injured individual. One that didn't cower in fear immediately.

"Name kinda came from a whole thing with this red bitch.. A sort of enemy that I had. I had to make a quick decision, and Nameless seemed ominous enough. I think it fits me."

"Ah, yes, red bitches, the worst kind. I vaguely remember someone red fucking my life up too!"

"... No fuck, they were grey. Nevermind, forget that."

They sit up, clearly deciding that the ceiling was too boring. They stare at Nameless, then at the window, then the wall after realizing that THERE ARE NO WINDOWS, then back at Nameless.

"Ya know. You look like someone who kills people, if I'll be honest. For sport, too. Though it'd be too personal if I asked you, so I'm making a statement instead, which leaves it open-ended enough for you to chime in if you so wish. The exact thing I taught myself to do over the past however long I've been alive."

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

Nameless suddenly hunches over partially, letting out a genuine laugh. Something no one would expect unless it was covered in someone's blood, or something like that.

"I do. I torture for sport, kill for sport.. I once burnt someone alive, and made someone hallucinate to near insanity!"

It suddenly reached out, oh so carefully grasping their chin to bring their gaze back over. "But I wouldn't do that to you."

Then it let go, immediately flexing its fingers. "Not yet, anyways!"

"Welp! Good to know I'm safe for now, I guess! Kinda insane how I eyeballed that first try, too... usually it takes like. Four whole fucking guesses. It's wild out there, I'll tell you..."

They stare in Nameless's direction. Not at Nameless, though- rather, through them. Everything Nameless had been understanding about them.. it vanished. For just a second, it all vanished. Like a husk was all that was left.

And then that moment was gone.

"Huh."

Nameless blinks, then leans back a bit.

"Heh, don't go..uh.. dying on me. I didn't put in all this conjuring effort for nothing!"

It cleared its throat, checking its claws. Quickly, however, it regained its confidence. "So! How did you even start bleeding out against a tree anyway? Normally I'd leave people like that, but I haven't been messing around just yet.."

"I got pelted like a snowball. It hurt a lot! Uh... some blue something-or-other slammed me into the tree after I accidentally insulted someone else, and uh... well, that's about as much as I remember!"

They stare at Nameless. "... you were worried for a second. Weren't you?" It's a mix of cockiness and some nonsensical hopefulness. A long shot, but a worthwhile one if it hits.

Nameless grit its teeth at the explanation, then tensed up at the question.

"Haaa. I don't get worried." It reached out, grasping Jar's chin again, still gentle. It didn't just release, however. Something glinted in its eyes, and though it refused to tear its gaze away, its hold was light enough to let them pull back if they so wished.

"I don't care much for silly little mortals like you." Nameless leaned closer, going back on the retreat, not close enough to be obvious, but not far enough to be hesitant. A tempted smirk laid on its face, its words laced in lies.

"Then why save me? You said you could've left me to die, so why didn't you? You contradict yourself." They... seem oddly insightful now. Only slightly, but still.

"There's something behind all that bravado."

They let the words hang in the air for a few moments, then move ever so slightly closer, despite every firing neuron telling them to back away. "Should I look for it..?"

Nameless, once again, is stunned. Most people actually react to its behavior, not just words. Fresh. New. Scary. Its smirk faltered slightly, before falling completely. It could only remember a single person who'd ever behaved like this, or at least similarly. Another chance was worth it, it went well last time.

"Sure." It replied, a brief memory flickering that it quickly shut down. A wing on the side of its head twitched, sliding back a bit.

They freeze for a second. They hadn't really thought this far ahead, almost 100% sure they'd get shut down the moment they said something. Then, they sit up straight, putting actual effort into their posture.

They hack up a bit more blood, but wipe it away. "Sorry, blood isn't exactly flattering, I know..."

"Anyhow... I suppose the best thing is to ask questions? Until we reach the hospital, that is... so. Uhm... alright, okay... how about starting with what you are? Species-wise. You don't look exactly... human to me." They genuinely look into Nameless's eyes. It's odd to look in there, but the only real way Jar knowsw how to show they're paying attention.

Nameless tilts its head, but says nothing. It always found being bloody to be attractive. It gives a soft chuckle, intentionally baring teeth. "Oh, species definition is so boring, no? I mean, I've been called far too many things. Shapeshifter, demon, wretch. I can't truly put a label to it."

It paused, giving a bit of thought to it. "But I could be yours, if you'd like." Its tone is openly flirtatious now, not exactly personal, but definitely direct.

They were stretching their arms about halfway through the explanation, then promptly froze. They turned their head to spit more blood on the floor, then whirls back to look at Nameless.

"Sorry, WHAT? I- look, I'm dense as shit, don't get me wrong, but like- I- wh- huh? I don't even- what???" They pretty much stammer their way through the whole sentence, any previous thoughts entirely thrown off by the equivalent of a bomb detonating in Jar's train of thought.

"Okay, okay- back the fuck up. Where did this come from? A moment ago you looked like you were gonna kill me at some point, now you're- flirting with me? I think?"

It snickered at the reaction. "You're curious. Different, even. That normally gets you killed." Its gaze shifted. More sharp, more honest. "But that's what I look for in people."

"Did that not answer your question?" Nameless let a rough edge creep on its voice, then immediately cleared its throat. "Because I really don't have a defined species."

"Uh- yeah, okay, both questions satiated, I suppose, uhm..." They take a moment to awkwardly clear their throat, racking their brain for any other semblance of a question they could ask. If not to learn more about Nameless, then just to keep the conversation going. It'd be a shame to stop talking by now.

"Alright. Okay. Uhm... so. My... my bleeding. It slowed when you, uh... waved your hand around all weirdly. I wanna assume that was you that slowed the bleeding, so... how? Not that I'm ungrateful, it's great to not be dying, but... ya know. Still curious."

They steady themselves against the wall, looking down at the dried blood they had smeared on their hand from wiping at their mouth a bit ago.

"My own little, mhheh.. Abilities, we'll say."

Nameless flicks its hand, and the dried blood suddenly fades away like never there. "Interesting, no?" There's a small tingling sensation left on your hand, but otherwise nothing odd remained.

"There's a ton that I can do with it. Spontaneous fires, teleportation, shapeshifting. The list goes on!"

“Conjuring and illusion magic, huh? Er- maybe not magic, but I’m so much of a nerd I’m using damn DnD as a reference, so… good enough!”

They subtly shift closer. Just enough to feel a bit more… protected. It’s a weird fucking gamble, but they’re placing all their trust in Nameless right now, so what’s the harm in putting a little more?

“Uhm… well, if you can ‘heal’ my injuries, then… why exactly are we going to a hospital?”

"Because I have to use more energy for the more serious things, and I don't feel like doing that right now."

It gave a quick, dismissive wave of its hand, then added- "I'm just making sure you don't die before we get there."

“Hm. That’s… well, yeah, that’s fair…”

Again, ever so slightly closer. The vehicle is far too cold, despite Jar’s outfit being the way it is sheerly for the sake of dealing with their sensitivity to cold temperatures.

“Just… wake me up when we get there. My eyes are too damn heavy for this shit…” They lay on the floor, still trying to huddle into their own warmth, and close their eyes for a while.

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

"..Interesting." It murmured, continuing to watch.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

"Nah." It replied, though quiet.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

"... so why? Why help me? I.. honestly can't remember if I asked you that before, but the question still stands." They let a bit more of the blood fall from their mouth, not bothering to wipe it or spit it out.

Nameless is stuck on that one. Trying to figure out an answer. And it had none. Nothing popped up, nothing came to mind. All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. That unintentional charm that it kept stumbling up to and falling for again and again.

It doesn't give a response.

They turn over, then finally decide to sit up again. ".. if you don't want to answer, that's... fine. It was an odd question anyway. I really shouldn't ask as if I'm not grateful- if not for you I'd have bled out against that tree by now." They laugh uncomfortably, trying not to linger on the thought.

They fold up the blanket and hold it toward Nameless, attempting to maintain some form of eye contact while doing so. "You can keep this. I don't need it." They clear their throat, failing on their previous attempt of looking at Nameless, and deciding it best to just avert their eyes for now. "... but thank you for giving it to me."

Nameless bites back a grin, taking the blanket and just.. eviscerating it. Where the fuck did it even go?? It sighs, opens its mouth to speak, loses its words, pauses, opens its mouth again, and only musters a struggled noise. It just can't seem to gather its words. Such an intimidating, apparently merciless killer, unable to say anything.

Jar is far more worried about WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DID IT GO than whatever internal emotional turmoil Nameless is dragging themselves through.

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

But they say nothing.

Nameless gives up on finding its words, looking at anything but Jar. It rarely lost its words like that before, especially nowadays. When it looks back at them, it immediately looks away. Why? Why did it do that? Maybe it should look back. No, no, that's stupid. It lifts a clawed hand, covering its face. God, what was it doing?

Jar keeps looking for a few seconds, gears turning in their head.

".. You okay?" They HIGHLY doubted it, but asked anyway. Just to make sure. Just to be courteous.

They reach out toward Nameless's face, but retract their hand about as soon as they realize the thought crossed their mind.

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

Nameless is already flushed at the laughter, but then looks shocked at the full reply.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless stares at the blood, stares at Jar, then grabs their wrist and just.. phases both of them through the vehicle, before the vehicle itself faded into nothing.

"Come on. That's concer- er.." It trailed off, simply pulling them into the building.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Nameless didn't go in. It knew how it'd react, and it wouldn't ruin shit that way. It'd check in after a few days, but for now? For now, Nameless refused to visit.

It would wait. It was better than a merciless killer when it wanted to be.

The birds still sing overhead. The sun still shines brightly. The trees still sway and bend in the wind.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

..It cleared its throat. "No way you were leaving without me, darling~."

"AH-" They jump at the snap, then just... blinks at Nameless.

"Holy shit, you-" They reach out and gently touch Nameless's hair, then quickly retract their hand. "I... thought you weren't real."

"I mean- you disappeared once I made it to the hospital, so... I thought you were just my imagination. A dream, or something, I-" Colt slides their hand down their face, groaning slightly.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

Nameless chuckled. "I don't do all that sappy stuff like hospital visits!" Then immediately paused at the question. Staring. And then it begrudgingly nodded. "Yeah."

It opened its arms, expression filled with a mixture of emotions. "And I'm shocked you really thought that. We had something special, no?"

They dive into Nameless. They've never felt the need to do that before, but they dived. They clutched onto Nameless about as hard as they physically could.

They speak between ragged sniffles. "Hah- right, yeah, uhm... sorry. My mind's been.. doing weird things recently, since- ya know. Blood loss makes you a bit out of it, so..." They bury their head into Nameless's shoulder.

"Sorry if this is, uh- more than you're comfortable with. I just... need to ground myself for a second. So. Yeah. Uhm." They just stay there, not speaking anymore.

Nameless is stunned. It can barely wrap its arms around them, it can barely give a small squeeze, and yet it doesn't have to fight to not claw them. "...Yeah." It mumbled, one hand hesitantly resting in Jar's hair.

"I don't really know. To prove to myself you're.. here. And that you care. Even if you'd never really admit that."

They clear their throat, sniffling a bit. "Sorry, sorry, I uh- I'm a bit emotional, heh..."

They pull back, looking at Nameless in the eyes. "There's... something I think I need to tell you. I think. I'm not sure if I should, but I..." They inhale for a couple seconds, then sharply exhale.

"I think, just maybe, I might MAYBE be in love with you, but to be totally honest it's fucking terrifying to say that out loud." They frantically scan Nameless's face with their eyes, searching for any reaction. They're more nervous than when they were about to die just a few days ago. What the fuck? This shouldn't be real.

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

They look at the blood gathered at the floor, then move their hand away from their mouth. They spit out a bit more, but it's certainly less now.

"Hm. Still kinda ironic. Being named 'Nameless'... parents not like you or something? Heh."

They stare it down for a second or two with an.. odd expression? Part smile, part intrigue- it's hard to tell, really.

Then, they just.. lay back. Stare at the roof of the vehicle and just hum. They hum until they get interrupted.

Nameless deadpanned, eyeing up every feature that it could. Its eyes were half-lidded, full of intent. It had to hold itself back- despite everything it lived for, this was an injured individual. One that didn't cower in fear immediately.

"Name kinda came from a whole thing with this red bitch.. A sort of enemy that I had. I had to make a quick decision, and Nameless seemed ominous enough. I think it fits me."

"Ah, yes, red bitches, the worst kind. I vaguely remember someone red fucking my life up too!"

"... No fuck, they were grey. Nevermind, forget that."

They sit up, clearly deciding that the ceiling was too boring. They stare at Nameless, then at the window, then the wall after realizing that THERE ARE NO WINDOWS, then back at Nameless.

"Ya know. You look like someone who kills people, if I'll be honest. For sport, too. Though it'd be too personal if I asked you, so I'm making a statement instead, which leaves it open-ended enough for you to chime in if you so wish. The exact thing I taught myself to do over the past however long I've been alive."

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

Nameless suddenly hunches over partially, letting out a genuine laugh. Something no one would expect unless it was covered in someone's blood, or something like that.

"I do. I torture for sport, kill for sport.. I once burnt someone alive, and made someone hallucinate to near insanity!"

It suddenly reached out, oh so carefully grasping their chin to bring their gaze back over. "But I wouldn't do that to you."

Then it let go, immediately flexing its fingers. "Not yet, anyways!"

"Welp! Good to know I'm safe for now, I guess! Kinda insane how I eyeballed that first try, too... usually it takes like. Four whole fucking guesses. It's wild out there, I'll tell you..."

They stare in Nameless's direction. Not at Nameless, though- rather, through them. Everything Nameless had been understanding about them.. it vanished. For just a second, it all vanished. Like a husk was all that was left.

And then that moment was gone.

"Huh."

"Heh, don't go..uh.. dying on me. I didn't put in all this conjuring effort for nothing!"

It cleared its throat, checking its claws. Quickly, however, it regained its confidence. "So! How did you even start bleeding out against a tree anyway? Normally I'd leave people like that, but I haven't been messing around just yet.."

"I got pelted like a snowball. It hurt a lot! Uh... some blue something-or-other slammed me into the tree after I accidentally insulted someone else, and uh... well, that's about as much as I remember!"

They stare at Nameless. "... you were worried for a second. Weren't you?" It's a mix of cockiness and some nonsensical hopefulness. A long shot, but a worthwhile one if it hits.

Nameless grit its teeth at the explanation, then tensed up at the question.

"Haaa. I don't get worried." It reached out, grasping Jar's chin again, still gentle. It didn't just release, however. Something glinted in its eyes, and though it refused to tear its gaze away, its hold was light enough to let them pull back if they so wished.

"I don't care much for silly little mortals like you." Nameless leaned closer, going back on the retreat, not close enough to be obvious, but not far enough to be hesitant. A tempted smirk laid on its face, its words laced in lies.

"Then why save me? You said you could've left me to die, so why didn't you? You contradict yourself." They... seem oddly insightful now. Only slightly, but still.

"There's something behind all that bravado."

They let the words hang in the air for a few moments, then move ever so slightly closer, despite every firing neuron telling them to back away. "Should I look for it..?"

Nameless, once again, is stunned. Most people actually react to its behavior, not just words. Fresh. New. Scary. Its smirk faltered slightly, before falling completely. It could only remember a single person who'd ever behaved like this, or at least similarly. Another chance was worth it, it went well last time.

"Sure." It replied, a brief memory flickering that it quickly shut down. A wing on the side of its head twitched, sliding back a bit.

"Anyhow... I suppose the best thing is to ask questions? Until we reach the hospital, that is... so. Uhm... alright, okay... how about starting with what you are? Species-wise. You don't look exactly... human to me." They genuinely look into Nameless's eyes. It's odd to look in there, but the only real way Jar knowsw how to show they're paying attention.

They steady themselves against the wall, looking down at the dried blood they had smeared on their hand from wiping at their mouth a bit ago.

Nameless flicks its hand, and the dried blood suddenly fades away like never there. "Interesting, no?" There's a small tingling sensation left on your hand, but otherwise nothing odd remained.

“Conjuring and illusion magic, huh? Er- maybe not magic, but I’m so much of a nerd I’m using damn DnD as a reference, so… good enough!”

They subtly shift closer. Just enough to feel a bit more… protected. It’s a weird fucking gamble, but they’re placing all their trust in Nameless right now, so what’s the harm in putting a little more?

“Uhm… well, if you can ‘heal’ my injuries, then… why exactly are we going to a hospital?”

"Because I have to use more energy for the more serious things, and I don't feel like doing that right now."

It gave a quick, dismissive wave of its hand, then added- "I'm just making sure you don't die before we get there."

Again, ever so slightly closer. The vehicle is far too cold, despite Jar’s outfit being the way it is sheerly for the sake of dealing with their sensitivity to cold temperatures.

“Just… wake me up when we get there. My eyes are too damn heavy for this shit…” They lay on the floor, still trying to huddle into their own warmth, and close their eyes for a while.

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

"..Interesting." It murmured, continuing to watch.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

"Nah." It replied, though quiet.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

"... so why? Why help me? I.. honestly can't remember if I asked you that before, but the question still stands." They let a bit more of the blood fall from their mouth, not bothering to wipe it or spit it out.

Nameless is stuck on that one. Trying to figure out an answer. And it had none. Nothing popped up, nothing came to mind. All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. That unintentional charm that it kept stumbling up to and falling for again and again.

They turn over, then finally decide to sit up again. ".. if you don't want to answer, that's... fine. It was an odd question anyway. I really shouldn't ask as if I'm not grateful- if not for you I'd have bled out against that tree by now." They laugh uncomfortably, trying not to linger on the thought.

They fold up the blanket and hold it toward Nameless, attempting to maintain some form of eye contact while doing so. "You can keep this. I don't need it." They clear their throat, failing on their previous attempt of looking at Nameless, and deciding it best to just avert their eyes for now. "... but thank you for giving it to me."

Nameless bites back a grin, taking the blanket and just.. eviscerating it. Where the fuck did it even go?? It sighs, opens its mouth to speak, loses its words, pauses, opens its mouth again, and only musters a struggled noise. It just can't seem to gather its words. Such an intimidating, apparently merciless killer, unable to say anything.

Jar is far more worried about WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DID IT GO than whatever internal emotional turmoil Nameless is dragging themselves through.

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

But they say nothing.

Nameless gives up on finding its words, looking at anything but Jar. It rarely lost its words like that before, especially nowadays. When it looks back at them, it immediately looks away. Why? Why did it do that? Maybe it should look back. No, no, that's stupid. It lifts a clawed hand, covering its face. God, what was it doing?

Jar keeps looking for a few seconds, gears turning in their head.

".. You okay?" They HIGHLY doubted it, but asked anyway. Just to make sure. Just to be courteous.

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

"AH-" They jump at the snap, then just... blinks at Nameless.

"Holy shit, you-" They reach out and gently touch Nameless's hair, then quickly retract their hand. "I... thought you weren't real."

"I mean- you disappeared once I made it to the hospital, so... I thought you were just my imagination. A dream, or something, I-" Colt slides their hand down their face, groaning slightly.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

Nameless chuckled. "I don't do all that sappy stuff like hospital visits!" Then immediately paused at the question. Staring. And then it begrudgingly nodded. "Yeah."

It opened its arms, expression filled with a mixture of emotions. "And I'm shocked you really thought that. We had something special, no?"

"Sorry if this is, uh- more than you're comfortable with. I just... need to ground myself for a second. So. Yeah. Uhm." They just stay there, not speaking anymore.

They frantically scan Nameless's face with their eyes, searching for any reaction. They're more nervous than when they were about to die just a few days ago. What the fuck? This shouldn't be real.

It cleared its throat, checking its claws. Quickly, however, it regained its confidence. "So! How did you even start bleeding out against a tree anyway? Normally I'd leave people like that, but I haven't been messing around just yet.."

"I got pelted like a snowball. It hurt a lot! Uh... some blue something-or-other slammed me into the tree after I accidentally insulted someone else, and uh... well, that's about as much as I remember!"

They stare at Nameless. "... you were worried for a second. Weren't you?" It's a mix of cockiness and some nonsensical hopefulness. A long shot, but a worthwhile one if it hits.

Nameless grit its teeth at the explanation, then tensed up at the question.

"Haaa. I don't get worried." It reached out, grasping Jar's chin again, still gentle. It didn't just release, however. Something glinted in its eyes, and though it refused to tear its gaze away, its hold was light enough to let them pull back if they so wished.

"I don't care much for silly little mortals like you." Nameless leaned closer, going back on the retreat, not close enough to be obvious, but not far enough to be hesitant. A tempted smirk laid on its face, its words laced in lies.

"Then why save me? You said you could've left me to die, so why didn't you? You contradict yourself." They... seem oddly insightful now. Only slightly, but still.

"There's something behind all that bravado."

They let the words hang in the air for a few moments, then move ever so slightly closer, despite every firing neuron telling them to back away. "Should I look for it..?"

Nameless, once again, is stunned. Most people actually react to its behavior, not just words. Fresh. New. Scary. Its smirk faltered slightly, before falling completely. It could only remember a single person who'd ever behaved like this, or at least similarly. Another chance was worth it, it went well last time.

"Sure." It replied, a brief memory flickering that it quickly shut down. A wing on the side of its head twitched, sliding back a bit.

They freeze for a second. They hadn't really thought this far ahead, almost 100% sure they'd get shut down the moment they said something. Then, they sit up straight, putting actual effort into their posture.

They hack up a bit more blood, but wipe it away. "Sorry, blood isn't exactly flattering, I know..."

"Anyhow... I suppose the best thing is to ask questions? Until we reach the hospital, that is... so. Uhm... alright, okay... how about starting with what you are? Species-wise. You don't look exactly... human to me." They genuinely look into Nameless's eyes. It's odd to look in there, but the only real way Jar knowsw how to show they're paying attention.

Nameless tilts its head, but says nothing. It always found being bloody to be attractive. It gives a soft chuckle, intentionally baring teeth. "Oh, species definition is so boring, no? I mean, I've been called far too many things. Shapeshifter, demon, wretch. I can't truly put a label to it."

It paused, giving a bit of thought to it. "But I could be yours, if you'd like." Its tone is openly flirtatious now, not exactly personal, but definitely direct.

They were stretching their arms about halfway through the explanation, then promptly froze. They turned their head to spit more blood on the floor, then whirls back to look at Nameless.

"Sorry, WHAT? I- look, I'm dense as shit, don't get me wrong, but like- I- wh- huh? I don't even- what???" They pretty much stammer their way through the whole sentence, any previous thoughts entirely thrown off by the equivalent of a bomb detonating in Jar's train of thought.

"Okay, okay- back the fuck up. Where did this come from? A moment ago you looked like you were gonna kill me at some point, now you're- flirting with me? I think?"

It snickered at the reaction. "You're curious. Different, even. That normally gets you killed." Its gaze shifted. More sharp, more honest. "But that's what I look for in people."

"Did that not answer your question?" Nameless let a rough edge creep on its voice, then immediately cleared its throat. "Because I really don't have a defined species."

"Uh- yeah, okay, both questions satiated, I suppose, uhm..." They take a moment to awkwardly clear their throat, racking their brain for any other semblance of a question they could ask. If not to learn more about Nameless, then just to keep the conversation going. It'd be a shame to stop talking by now.

"Alright. Okay. Uhm... so. My... my bleeding. It slowed when you, uh... waved your hand around all weirdly. I wanna assume that was you that slowed the bleeding, so... how? Not that I'm ungrateful, it's great to not be dying, but... ya know. Still curious."

They steady themselves against the wall, looking down at the dried blood they had smeared on their hand from wiping at their mouth a bit ago.

Nameless flicks its hand, and the dried blood suddenly fades away like never there. "Interesting, no?" There's a small tingling sensation left on your hand, but otherwise nothing odd remained.

"There's a ton that I can do with it. Spontaneous fires, teleportation, shapeshifting. The list goes on!"

“Conjuring and illusion magic, huh? Er- maybe not magic, but I’m so much of a nerd I’m using damn DnD as a reference, so… good enough!”

They subtly shift closer. Just enough to feel a bit more… protected. It’s a weird fucking gamble, but they’re placing all their trust in Nameless right now, so what’s the harm in putting a little more?

“Uhm… well, if you can ‘heal’ my injuries, then… why exactly are we going to a hospital?”

It gave a quick, dismissive wave of its hand, then added- "I'm just making sure you don't die before we get there."

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

"..Interesting." It murmured, continuing to watch.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

"Nah." It replied, though quiet.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

"... so why? Why help me? I.. honestly can't remember if I asked you that before, but the question still stands." They let a bit more of the blood fall from their mouth, not bothering to wipe it or spit it out.

Nameless is stuck on that one. Trying to figure out an answer. And it had none. Nothing popped up, nothing came to mind. All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. That unintentional charm that it kept stumbling up to and falling for again and again.

They turn over, then finally decide to sit up again. ".. if you don't want to answer, that's... fine. It was an odd question anyway. I really shouldn't ask as if I'm not grateful- if not for you I'd have bled out against that tree by now." They laugh uncomfortably, trying not to linger on the thought.

They fold up the blanket and hold it toward Nameless, attempting to maintain some form of eye contact while doing so. "You can keep this. I don't need it." They clear their throat, failing on their previous attempt of looking at Nameless, and deciding it best to just avert their eyes for now. "... but thank you for giving it to me."

Nameless bites back a grin, taking the blanket and just.. eviscerating it. Where the fuck did it even go?? It sighs, opens its mouth to speak, loses its words, pauses, opens its mouth again, and only musters a struggled noise. It just can't seem to gather its words. Such an intimidating, apparently merciless killer, unable to say anything.

Jar is far more worried about WHAT THE FUCK WHERE DID IT GO than whatever internal emotional turmoil Nameless is dragging themselves through.

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

But they say nothing.

Nameless gives up on finding its words, looking at anything but Jar. It rarely lost its words like that before, especially nowadays. When it looks back at them, it immediately looks away. Why? Why did it do that? Maybe it should look back. No, no, that's stupid. It lifts a clawed hand, covering its face. God, what was it doing?

Jar keeps looking for a few seconds, gears turning in their head.

".. You okay?" They HIGHLY doubted it, but asked anyway. Just to make sure. Just to be courteous.

They reach out toward Nameless's face, but retract their hand about as soon as they realize the thought crossed their mind.

".. This is awkward, huh...? Feels like I'm just talking to talk now."

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

Nameless is already flushed at the laughter, but then looks shocked at the full reply.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless stares at the blood, stares at Jar, then grabs their wrist and just.. phases both of them through the vehicle, before the vehicle itself faded into nothing.

"Come on. That's concer- er.." It trailed off, simply pulling them into the building.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

"Sorry if this is, uh- more than you're comfortable with. I just... need to ground myself for a second. So. Yeah. Uhm." They just stay there, not speaking anymore.

"I think, just maybe, I might MAYBE be in love with you, but to be totally honest it's fucking terrifying to say that out loud." They frantically scan Nameless's face with their eyes, searching for any reaction. They're more nervous than when they were about to die just a few days ago. What the fuck? This shouldn't be real.

It stares at Jar, suddenly lifting a claw to wipe a few drops of blood that just dripped. It held eye contact as it sucked the blood off its finger tip, far too interested in this. "Sad. Also, it isn't no name, it's that my name is Nameless. Like the word nameless."

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

Nameless stares, conjuring up a rather fluffy blanket and draping it over Jar. Its.. watching. Watching them rest. Not quite protectively, but more.. observant. Scanning every little detail, mentally noting anything that it may need to remember later.

The ambulance-esque vehicle chugs along. There's very little sound to keep anyone company. Jar had said to wake them up when they were at the hospital, so it's safe to assume they don't plan on waking up. They didn't plan to, anyway.

A small twitch. At the fingers. Then in the legs. They'd never remember what they saw- "HOLY SHIT-" They jolt upright, coughing blood into their hands. Their body tenses, then slowly relaxes as they come to remember what their situation was. "... ah. Right. Er- don't- don't mind me."

They lay back down. "Just... me being weird again, hm?... Yeah. That's all." They turn over, looking away.

Nameless nearly lunged forward at the sudden jolt, unable to hide its worry. The moment the situation calmed, it glanced away, glanced around the vehicle, then continued watching. It couldn't help but reach down to fix the blanket and properly tuck it around Jar.

They grip the inside of the blanket, still looking away at the wall. "You said you kill people. Torture for sport. All of that. Classic definition of 'evil'..."

All it could think of was that something here, something about this one person, reminded it of Reaps. That charm. Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

Nameless blinks at the first poke, then doesn't react to the next endless stream. It finally speaks- "Okay, okay- um-" It immediately bit its tongue at how utterly pathetic it sounded.

It sighed, swatted Jar's hand away, and thinking. "You're hot as fuck. In.. more ways than one." It blurted out, immediately looking away and trying to take a step back.

Jar bites back the HARDEST LAUGH EVER- and then proceeded to totally and utterly fail, laughing their lungs out for a couple of minutes before gathering their breath.

"So- so fucking sorry, uh- I'm not making fun of you, I swear! I just-" They straighten up, though their face is tinted a subtle shade of red. "I didn't expect someone to say something like that about someone like me, ya know?"

They scratch their arm, a nervous habit they never seemed to drop. "I uhh... I mean- so are you... I mean- obviously! You're like- ya know- the whole thing! All the works! The whole, like, everything!" They keep yammering. Their heart won't tell their mind to tell their mouth what it should say.

Nameless is already flushed at the laughter, but then looks shocked at the full reply.

".. That's not something I hear everyday. Or at all, really." It cleared its throat, still unable to look at them. Then it remembered how it was meant to act.

It forced a grin, yet only spared a single, hesitant glance. "But- hah- I mean, of course I am! People just never appreciate it!"

Suddenly, the vehicle comes to a violent halt, throwing Jar forward by a bit. “Woah- wait, why’d we stop? Oh right, bec-“

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

Nameless stares at the blood, stares at Jar, then grabs their wrist and just.. phases both of them through the vehicle, before the vehicle itself faded into nothing.

"Come on. That's concer- er.." It trailed off, simply pulling them into the building.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

Jar finally looks at Nameless again, forgetting about their previous nervousness in the face of whatever's happening now. First they look where the blanket had been- in Nameless's hands. Then at Nameless's face. Nameless's eyes. Back toward their hands, but this time scrutinizing every detail possible. Then, the same with their face, then their eyes.

When all of that is done, Jar clears their throat.

It finally looked at them, a bit disappointed by the lack of touch, but it could feel its breathing speed up when it settled its gaze, even if slightly. "Yeah." Immediately, Nameless looked away again. It sounded so awkward.

Nameless felt like some pathetic teenager. It was meant to be a killer, someone to be feared! Not like this over some mortal!

They hesitate for just a few seconds, then stand up and take a couple steps toward Nameless.

Their voice comes out softer, which takes a hell of a lot more effort than they'd like to admit. "Hey." They poke Nameless on the forehead. "Tell me what's going on in there. And don't brush it off, I know it's something." They continue incessantly poking at Nameless's forehead until it responds.

They vomit out a sizable amount of blood, staining the floor of the vehicle. Turns out they’d been trying to hold back and swallow it down this whole time. “Eugh… because of that… forgot that happened.”

They must be at the hospital by now.

If they were any more awake, they'd have something funny to say. However, the fact that their bones are probably broken and they're still bleeding internally is enough to make them focus on just staying alive for now.

They put some of their weight against Nameless, finding it too hard to stand on their own accord.

Nameless let it happen, switching its grip so it was properly supporting them. "Deep, slow breaths. You'll be fine." It muttered, though couldn't particularly tell if that was to Jar or itself.

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.

Nameless had just appeared in a wisp of dark magic, when it noticed them. "Hey!" It immediately called out, before fading back into that dark, and appearing right beside them. "The fuck do you think you're going?" It snapped, coming off a bit too hostile.

"I mean- you disappeared once I made it to the hospital, so... I thought you were just my imagination. A dream, or something, I-" Colt slides their hand down their face, groaning slightly.

They bite their tongue for just a bit, then sigh. ".. Can I hug you?"

It's oddly quiet from Jar on the way to the hospital. Probably because they're focused on, oh I don't know, not dying? They ARE sorta. bleeding out. Kinda bad. Though they do ask ONE question.

"... remind me who you are? I uh.. vaguely remember you, but not by much, hah..."

Nameless is rocking back and forth on its feet while some sort of.. ambulance-like vehicle drives along. It seemed to have just conjured this up, so best to not question it.

At the sudden question, it glances at Jar, flashing a mischievous grin.

"They call me Nameless, honey. You may have heard of me from my little.. mhheh.. incidents." It leaned a bit closer, fangs glinting in dim light.

"Hm. Fun name... having no name at all. Narrative decisions at their finest."

Blood keeps dripping from their mouth. They just wipe it away, despite its persistence to continue leaking out.

Nameless is quickly irritated by the slow, steady drip. It conjures up a handkerchief, decides against it, conjures a.. something. Something unidentifiable and constantly shifting, then whisks both away.

It stares at Jar, suddenly lifting a claw to wipe a few drops of blood that just dripped. It held eye contact as it sucked the blood off its finger tip, far too interested in this. "Sad. Also, it isn't no name, it's that my name is Nameless. Like the word nameless."

Nameless murmured, then waved its hand around, exerting a bit of energy. Something felt new, not fixed, but new. The drip was slowed, though not stopped.

They look at the blood gathered at the floor, then move their hand away from their mouth. They spit out a bit more, but it's certainly less now.

"Hm. Still kinda ironic. Being named 'Nameless'... parents not like you or something? Heh."

Then, they just.. lay back. Stare at the roof of the vehicle and just hum. They hum until they get interrupted.

"Name kinda came from a whole thing with this red bitch.. A sort of enemy that I had. I had to make a quick decision, and Nameless seemed ominous enough. I think it fits me."

"Ya know. You look like someone who kills people, if I'll be honest. For sport, too. Though it'd be too personal if I asked you, so I'm making a statement instead, which leaves it open-ended enough for you to chime in if you so wish. The exact thing I taught myself to do over the past however long I've been alive."

Then they look back at the ceiling. Guess they weren't so tired of it after all.

Then it let go, immediately flexing its fingers. "Not yet, anyways!"

Stepping up to the hospital doors, Nameless ignored the terror from nearby others who were waiting at the sight of a literal killer. It walked up to the front desk, expression a mix of irritation and well-hidden concern.

"They got thrown into a tree. Probably internal bleeding and broken ribs. You're gonna get someone to help them."

"Hh-" They cough some blood into their sleeve, then looks up at the receptionist. "Y- yeah. That. What... they said." They're barely getting their breaths out at this point.

When Jar is ripped from Nameless to get taken to the trauma bay, they try their best to cling on, reaching out as they're pulled away.

(following is a significant detailing of physical trauma and the aftermath of said trauma. be warned.)

The doctors do the typical tests. Jar is diagnosed with a hemothorax. Blood is flowing into their chest cavity, actively crushing their lungs. It's a fucking miracle they're still conscious, especially after the 20 minute long trip.

It takes two hours for them to move from the trauma bay to the ICU. It's unsightly. A tube running into their chest, slowly draining blood out of their lungs. A nasal cannula for oxygen support. IV pain meds so they don't hurt themselves further. They're still being monitored.

It's its own cruel form of horror. In Jar's opinion, anyway.

Visitors are allowed. Only one at a time, and the hours are from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. It's currently 3:32.

Nameless didn't go in. It knew how it'd react, and it wouldn't ruin shit that way. It'd check in after a few days, but for now? For now, Nameless refused to visit.

It would wait. It was better than a merciless killer when it wanted to be.

TIME SKIP INCOMING! 2 days later...

The birds still sing overhead. The sun still shines brightly. The trees still sway and bend in the wind.

Finally, Jar is out of the hospital. And... they're looking around anxiously. They've got no way to get home... er- they don't exactly have a "home", they just crash in stranger's houses as often as they can. Otherwise, they find some soft patch of grass.

But, they've got no way to get ANYWHERE. It's just miles of paved roads and cars filling up the hospital's lot.

"... Fuck." They just.. stumble in a random direction, hoping to find something.
