hadley smiled at the blonde, watching as she moved away the books and allowing the brunette to take a sit down. she let out a soft chuckle at the compliment âIâm going to be even more polite and say thank you for calling me polite.â hadley laughed, placing her coffee down and turned to pull out her files for work. âOdette! Hi! Iâm Hadley.â with a smile, Hadley looked over at the blonde, she looked familiar, she just didnât know where from.
the blonde let out a soft laugh, nodding her head as the other said âthank youâ. âwell, itâs nice to meet you, hadley.â she chuckled softly, tucking a strand of hair behind her ear. odette had been in town long enough to know when someone new passes through and even if she didnât her mom would usually call to gossip about something she heard from some of the other ladies in town. sometimes, it doesnt pay to have a mom who thinks her life is a modern day soap opera. it wasnât that small of a town, so there were many people who would move into town and were lucky enough to go unnoticed by them. âareâhow long have you been here, if you dont mind me asking?â
âOf course I donât mind! My table is your table.â Ches declares, deciding it was a good exclamation at the moment. Odette was good company, and sometimes it felt like she was one of the few people in Blackrock who truly understood what she meant while discussing back home. âI know, I wish I could sleep like that. I could never fall asleep in here.â She muses with a smile, glancing over to her daughter affectionately again. âThink thatâs a trait you can acquire or is reserved for small, growing babies? Could be useful.â Thereâs a playfulness in her tone as she turns back to Odette, a small spark in her eye as she speaks. ââHow are you doing today? Did work go well?â The blonde in front of her threw the best events in the area, Ches couldnât help her curiosity sometimes. If there was something cool and exciting under her sleeve, she had someone very eager to listen.
âyouâre the sweetest. if you would have refused, who knows where iâd end up sitting.â she joked, small grin spreading across her lips. the blonde tilted her head as a small hum slipped past her lips. âi think if anyone else fell asleep in here, theyâd be getting weird looks. sheâs so freaking cuteâi mean, and she is a baby so itâs normal.â odette chuckled softly, shaking her head. as ches asked about her day, the girl couldnt help but smile. honestly, she loved talking to the redhead. the girl was always willing to listen and help. odette was the same on the other side. âit went well! i have a few parties that iâm really looking forward to as they start to get closer. hey! if youâre ever interested, i could always bring a plus one to some of these!â odette gently tapped her fingers against the cup in her hands. âhow about you? how was your day?â
Eli had spent the day inside the local coffee shop, working her ass off for some money in which to help pay the bills for her student accomodation. Her eyes were heavy and sheâd been yawning all day. Eli was used to the lack of sleep, college life at its finest. She had just finished the first four hours of her shift, and decided to take her break now before she collapsed while serving a customer.
Pouring herself a cup of coffee and moving to sit on one of the armchairs that were scattered around a big table. The shop always reminded her of âCentral Perksâ in friends, and she let her head fall back on the seat, letting out a deep sigh before sipping her coffee. That was when someone approached, sitting down in the armchair beside her. âHow may I help you?â She asked without looking up. She presumed they thought she was still on shift because of the apron around her waist. She wasnât going to waste a customer though, especially if they gave a tip for good service. âIâll beââ she was about to say sheâd be with them momentarily, that was before she looked up, finally noticing who was standing there.
odette hummed softly as she finally stepped into the coffee shop. the warmth instantly comforting the blonde as she made her way to her usual seat. she spotted the other girl and her head whipped up a bit as she spoke up. âoh, hey, donât worry about it!â the girl smiled softly. âyou take your time. i donât need anything yet anyway.â odette took a seat, sliding her bag off of her shoulder. âare you okay, though?â
Accepting her coffee, Hadley looked around the coffee shop. It was peak time, early morning, everyone getting in their breakfast and or coffee so there really were little to no seats left. She however soon spotted someone in the corner by themselves at a table, maybe she could get lucky. She did after all had to look over a few cases before heading to court. Moving closer, Hadley stopped at the edge of the table âHi there, there arenât any spare seats or tables left and I was just wondering, if you werenât expecting anyone, if I could please possibly take a seat and share the table with you please?â.
odette finally had the chance to work on her scheduling as well as catch up on a few things for a few events coming up. she rarely fell behind and she wasnât going to let herself do so now. the blonde took a short break to take a bite out of the pastry she had bought and a small sip from her latte. she glanced up as someone stopped at her table. offering a warm smile, the blonde nodded her head, gesturing to the seat across from her. âyeah, of course! let me move some of this out of your way.â odette hummed softly, carefully taking a few books, strategically stacking them before carefully placing them in her bag that hung on the side of her chair. âyouâre really polite.â she noted, small chuckle spilling from her lips. âiâm odette by the way.â
âNo, no - I even gave you advice on this section.â Ches murmers under her breath as she goes through one of her studentâs essays with a red pen in the corner of the coffee shop. The sight of the redhead, her dog, and a baby settled at the same table wasnât uncommon now that the school year had started. It gave her a chance to be social and grade with a cup of tea, and it gave Rosie a nice place to nap.
Sometimes she envied her daughterâs ability to sleep seeminlgy anywhere, how she would have loved to share that trait with her baby. She could probably blame the girlâs father for that one. She glances up when she hears footstep, smiling at the person. âYou can join us, if you want.â She gestures to the seat across from her before she glances over to the seat next to her again briefly, to check on the baby still asleep in her carseat. âIâm grading papers and I always welcome the company.â
Ches Elswood was a very social creature, afterall.
meeting after meetingâit seemed all of odetteâs time was consumed by meetings lately. the girl definitely needed a pick me up.. maybe even two. the blonde hummed softly as she pulled open the door to the familar coffee shop, the smell of fresh brewed coffee and pastries filling her nostrils. the blonde smiled, making her way up to the counter to place her order. with a quick thank you, odette took her drink and started to make her way to a table when she spotted the familiar redhead. âhey! oh, only if you dont mind.â the girl spoke as she made her self comfortable across from the other. a warm smile spread across her lips as she glanced over at the other. âi feel like every time i see you two, sheâs always asleep. god, i wish i could take a quick nap everywhere i went.â
âI have to say, âmerry coffeeâ is the cutest shit Iâve ever heard,â Pepper smiled at the holiday-printed cup her Starbucks iced coffee had come in. âI know some people bitch about skipping straight to Christmas after Halloween, but like, Thanksgiving is some colonizer-glorifying bullshit. Itâs just a good excuse to eat. The food coma nap hits, but still. Thanksgiving would suck if there wasnât a little bit of a Christmassy undertone, yâknow?â
odette hummed softly as her fingers wrapped around her red cup. a small grin made its way across her lips as she glanced over at the other. âi will say, it is getting me into the holiday spirit faster.â she noted. âthanksgiving is just for the food.â she chuckled. âfor the last few years, i just havenât been able to get into the christmas spirit, but this year.. for some reason is different. have you noticed everyone seems to be decorating early this year?âÂ

TW: affair
Is that margot robbie walking down the streets of Blackrock Cliffs? Oh no, itâs just odette johnson, a thirty year old, cisfemale that works as an event planner. They have been around for twenty years and she seems to be loyal and compassionate. Someone said they can also be defensive and gullible. (el, 22, cst, she/her)Â
odette grew up as the middle child out of three. they were all somewhat spoiled with daddyâs money. they were the picture perfect family, but everything picture perfect must come to an end at some point. hidden secrets are almost always exposed. you see, daddy had been hiding an affair with his assistant for quite sometime, and one night, it all blew up in their faces. odette was about eight at this time. her father decided to run away with his mistress while her mother took full custody and responsibility for the children . to this day odette still has limited contact with her father. he has his own family now. (heâs still in NY)
the family managed to do fine without him in their life. when odette was ten, the family picked up and moved to cali. her mother took on a few more shifts at the hospital and as soon as the kids were able to work or take on small jobs, they had no issue doing so. the oldest son began doing this and that before taking on a job for the longest time helping out a mechanic. odette took on nannying gigs before taking on a job helping out at a flower shop. the youngestâwell, she didnt have to worry as much. the four were taken care of.
high school was easy for odette but the thing she really loved to do was go down to the flower shop after school and help the owner with all the event orders. sometimes she was lucky enough to get to help set up for a big event with her. that was the moment odette fell in love with the idea of event and wedding planning. as soon as she was out of school, she started college but also pursued event planning even more with her boss.
at the age of twenty two, the girl finally started up her own business. she partnered with the flower shop and a couple other places that she had been familiar with growing up and soon, her business was booming. the girl had been placed in charge of making big parties, weddings, and even galas the best that they could be and she excelled at it.
at twenty five, odette found herself in a very serious relationship. the two were soon engaged and odette began to question the entire relationship. she got in her head about how the relationship with her parents went and was terrified of that being her future. the girl mentioned her fears once or twice and finally, she called everything off. (honestly this may be something i put a wanted connection in for. i want this to be a BIG part of her life and honestly it would be kinda cool to figure out the dynamic and if theres something still there between the two, if heâs moved on, or whatever!)
now, at thirty, her event planning business is still booming.
personality:
odette is one of the sweetest girls around. sheâs very much your girl next door and always has been. friend/mom friend to everyone tbh. she can be very gullible and easy to mess with so honestly, give me those kind of connections.
