“Is that so….” he muttered, offering her a gentle smile. Yukimaru whinnied softly, nuzzling against her gentle strokes as Akashi watched.
“I am doing well, but I supposed you were rather bored, being confined to the bedroom like that.” He had intended on doing some runs, but he didn’t mind setting that aside for a later date. Accompanying his mother was much more important to him, after all.
“If I may, would you like to have a small picnic in the garden? It’s better than sitting here where dust will be kicked up by Yukimaru’s running.”
❝IT WOULD BE A pleasure to have a picnic in the garden. the garden looks so beautiful now, wouldn’t you agree?❞ a small picnic in the garden. that sounds brilliant. the two, including her husband, would normally have such cute events in the past when seijuurou was in his most innocent youth. the memory of the three being together had pleased shiori but the thought of the future without her just created a reason to spend more time with her family. ❝if you don't mind, i would like to help make sandwiches and the blanket we shall sit on.❞ the woman was planning on taking the same blanket they had used in all their previous picnics.

He climbed onto the horse, settling into the saddle and making sure everything was secure before he started a trot around the track. As he made his way around, a familiar hat covering those long locks and gentle smile caught his attention, and he quickly rode over, sliding off Yukimaru and approached her.
“Mother, why are you out here? Were you not supposed to be resting right now?”
❝I JUST WANTED TO see how my son was doing. am i not allowed?❞ shiori queried with a smile that still remained. going outside and just watching her son wasn’t going to cause any harm. the only energy she really did use was for walking and speaking, however, that did not require much. the woman stood up before walking towards her son and leaning over to stroke his horse. ❝how is my little boy doing?❞
( kuroko. ) ♚ :
and of course, he didn’t have the INTENTION of pressuring her or sort. on the contrary, he only wanted to boost her will to get better son. he know so little of her illness after all so the only thing he can offer is support.
` it’s nothing at all. `
he started before a huff had left him.
` – this is all i could do to help so i hope it made you feel better.. `
❝AH, DON’T WORRY. IT’S fine. ❞ she reassured. after minutes of walking and having a fine conversation, the two finally arrived at the bookstore. ❝kuroko-san, is this the bookstore?❞ she asked. the woman wasn’t really familiar with this area since she spent her time indoors most of the time.

“How are you feeling, Yukimaru?”
Hand stroking its muzzle, Akashi hummed as the horse nuzzled against his hand. Strapping his horse up, he then finally placed the saddle on his back, leading the horse out its stable by the reins, unaware of a presence nearby the entire time.
AKASHI SHIORI WAS UNDOUBTEDLY bored. nowadays, she spent her time in bed since her doctor had insisted. her illness was indeed serious but that did not stop her from spending time with her family whenever she wanted to. the sickly woman had walked herself over to where her son had been roaming. she sat down near the fenced off area where her son would normally ride his horse in. she tilted her sun hat that had a red ribbon embracing it, and proceeded to watch silently with a smile.

Since his acceptance into and his eventual leave for Rakuzan, Akashi very rarely sees – or even thinks of – his father. Not in any manner of disrespect ;; simply to maintain a clear state of mind. He’s wavered at times – mentally – and has come to realize that it is always after an encounter with Akashi Masaomi. Steering clear of the man grants him the peace of mind needed to command three strings of Japan’s strongest basketball team and maintain his duties as Rakuzan’s Student Council president.
But he thinks often – and fondly – of his mother. Even now, as the Shikansen he’d boarded in Kyoto three hours previous fast approaches Tokyo where she awaits his arrival, he longs to speak with her once more ;; a phone call to tell her that he’ll see her soon. This is one thing in which he exhibits no shame – his unwavering and never-ending love for his mother. His teammates would not dream to make fun over the matter – in fact, they (namely Reo) seem to find it most endearing.
Though what they – or anyone – thinks of him matters not.
Within the hour, the Shikansen is pulling into the station. Akashi’s eyes scan the crowd of people waiting for loved ones and acquaintances and before he even stands from his seat, he’s spotted her.
She is brunette, bright-eyed, and as beautiful as ever – standing out in a crowd of mere commoners amongst a queen. With no further adieu, he takes his bag and departs the train, heading toward her with a growing smile ;; nothing comes more naturally in her presence.
❝ Kaasan… I’ve missed you dearly. ❞
THE RED-LOCKED WOMAN HAD been waiting for the day she would see her son again, and now, it was the beginning of experiencing that day. shiori had been standing amongst many others, waiting for one specific shinkansen that held her son; her pride and joy. she was unbelievably excited for this day to come. because of this situation, she tried her hardest to prevent beads of tears to cascade down her fair cheeks. her one and only son, finally seeing her after years. the moment she looked with her bright, scarlet eyes, it was the young man she had expected, had stood before her. shiori could not believe her eyes; her brave, little child turned into a handsome, charming young man. she saw his new appearance before, however, they only came in photographs and not in person. seeing akashi seijuurou in person was much better. ❝seijuurou-- !❞ she could not prevent herself from crying tears of joy. a bright smile appeared upon her face; a smile of delight, HAPPINESS. the woman quickly enveloped her son in a tight, warm embrace. ❝seijuurou, i missed you ever so much. . .❞ shiori would describe how much she missed and loved her son by stretching her arms horizontally but she figured he had grown up. she sniffled, incredibly and genuinely happy to have seen her son in such a long time.
( kuroko. ) ♚ :
it wasn’t like kuroko wasn’t able to grasp the gist in it but there were still questions that linger at the back of his mind. however, as much as he wanted to ask those questions, he hold back. he didn’t want to pry into the subject further and he know well the lady wanted that as well. it must be a sensitive topic for her thus he decided to forfeit.
` — then i won’t ask further but.. i wish you’d feel better soon, akashi-san.. akashi- kun would be more happy if you’re in top condition. `
DID HE JUST SAY her son would be more happy if she was in top condition? shiori believed so. she had always tried her best not to show any mercy to her illness but maybe. . . that’s not enough. would it be better for her to forget that she had the illness in the first place? it’s only just time showing her she had to live the happiest live she could before it all ends; it was pressure. ❝i-- thank you, kuroko. . .❞ she only just managed to smile but the thought of suffering kept scratching at the back of her head; shiori had to be the happiest.
( kuroko. ) ♚ :
out of the things she said one word left a big impression to him. illness? akashi-kun’s mother was sick? this only prove how little does he know his former captain and it made him feel bad. inquiring, he forwardly question.
` — i’m sorry if i may sound nosy and rude right now but.. your illness… it can’t be anything that serious can it? `
SHIORI DID NOT WANT to tell such an already good friend about her illness. she knew that everything was going to end soon but she wanted to live her last moments without causing any trouble or worry to anyone else. the woman was hesitant to say to kuroko but she made up her mind. ❝i’m sorry, kuroko, but all i can tell you is that this illness has taken effect on my husband’s and son’s life. they are worried for me but i promise nothing bad is going to happen!❞ a beautiful lie is better than the ugly truth.
does anyone want my skype? i literally forced my friend to go to sleep so now i have nobody to talk to. //
( kuroko. ) ♚ :
` if it would be alright with you and your family then that would be nice. unfortunately, my parents are out most of the time due to work so i’d have to check and see when they’d be free but i am still looking forward to the meeting if it does happen. `
a gathering from both family sounds nice. having a small get together just to relax and get to know each other sounds wonderful.
❝I UNDERSTAND. FORTUNATELY MY husband is staying in the house nowadays because of my illness so you are welcome to arrange a meeting at any time. it would be a pleasure meeting your family.❞ shiori was enjoying this time immensely. it would be nice to see her son with his old friend talking to each other.
( kuroko. ) ♚ :
` oh. that’s alright. i under- stand that. we should be almost there so please bear for it a little longer. more importantly, if you wouldn’t mind me asking how is akashi-kun fairing? it’s been a while since we last met.. `
and they also barely contact each other through phones. kuroko just doesn’t seem to use it outside that often.
❝SEIJUUROU IS DOING FINE. i am glad that you are curious about how my son has been doing. you’re such a nice friend, kuroko-san. if you want, our families can have some tea or coffee someday.❞ shiori offered. she loved spending time with people since it brings everyone together.
☳
( MEME. ) | ACCEPTING. ♚
SHE HELD HER SON'S hand tightly with a smile you could only see once in a life time. shiori's life was going to end soon and it did not please her or anyone that loved her.
❝seijuurou. . .❞ she started, using all of her effort. ❝i remember when you were little; you were brave whenever you would hurt yourself, you tried your best not to cry. . . so please, do not cry when i go because i'm always here with you.❞
and with that statement, her existence did not remain any longer and so she fell asleep, not ever waking up again.
( kuroko. ) ♚ :
` i’m not sure yet. i was planning to scan around and hopefully find some thing interesting. are you in a hurry? if you are then i apologize. it might take me a while. `
he had just recently finish reading his previous book. as usual, he often spends the time reading synopsis at the back of a book to see the whole story. if it piques his interest then he’ll buy it if not then he’ll move on into another book section and continue his search.
❝AH. I SEE. I’M also not a hurry, if you’re worried. it’s literally day right now but i’m planning to leave after you have finished since i would like to spend some time with my family.❞ she said politely with a smile on her face. shiori would normally ask her friends what they would recommend to her but that normally would never happen since they don’t read books that often.
